Going to be doing a lap around Lake Michigan in 8 days time with my parents. Spending two days in Chicago. Any recommendations of what to do while we are there?

wtf is up with the IRS? they sent my gf a notice that she owes money after her tax return was amended which is fine, but they just keep putting out her whole SSN throughout these 3 pages.
Me starting tomorrow morning. No more fucking around. No more too cool for this. No more slacking off. Just going to bust my ass at everything. Wake up 3 hours early to work out until I hit muscle fatigue and run on the treadmill until I have no more energy. Way less social media. Eat right. Even when I play games it'll be to get better. No more getting stuck on things or people.

Old dude ran up on me saying they couldn't get one spot painted(they repaved/tard) the parking area because my car was there all day. The schedule they sent out said they'd be done by Wednesday. I was working from home and didn't look outside.
Ain't my problem.

By HasphatsAnts Go To Postso tired of being sad all the time manIt does but takes work. Find the stressors in your life and address them. Could be security (financial, self, physical, etc.), unrealistic expectations of yourself put on you by yourself or others, low self-confidence, unable to respect or love yourself as you are, or many other things.
does it ever get better
Definitely a great idea to see a therapist or psychiatrist to help you figure out what the issue(s) are. Maybe learning some self-reflection techniques could help, too.
I like this dude's videos. As far as the 'mens life advice' or whatever videos goes he seems the least... predatory?
We were about to accept an offer on our house tonight when a bigger offer came through from people who saw the house over the weekend. SWEEEET. They're bringing 300K down so if the inspection goes well we should be set. Escrow is a nail biter though. I'm hoping to sign the offer tonight and start escrow tomorrow or the day after.
This is a huge stress relief for me. I'm living with my parents while we sell / buy new and selling is sort of open ended with no real control over what happens. This is really stressful on my wife. Living with you parents after you've moved out and made a life is one thing, but the in-laws .... Now with the offer we can start looking ahead and planning funds, packing and purchasing our new house. With any luck we're closing by end of July and buying some time in August / Sept for a move in of Sept / Oct ....

About to show some cards here, waiting on a house selling is one of the most stressful fucking things in existence (as much as it is privileged tbh), especially if you're buying at the same time and the purchase of your new home is contingent on your current one selling. Never been so edgy because you have absolutely no control over the FHA process or timelines. All you can do is just wait and wait and wait.

It is 100% a privileged people problem. As you said though, it is stressful as fuck. We're not having to buy / sell contingent, thanks to living with my family, but that comes with it's own set of stresses as stated above. I would shoot myself in a week if I had to live with her parents.
Part of my privileged people problems is having to sell at a specific price to make sure I got 20% down on my next home. We knowingly listed high, and have come down off initial listing price quite a bit, but it's still fair and keeps my 20% intact.
Orange County is stupidly expensive.
We were able to pay in cash (our home) but had to wait on the people buying our own to go through the FHA process. We couldn't do shit. All of it out of our hands. That's what makes the stress level so high. Everything on pause. You can't do shit or even make it any better. It either goes through or it doesn't and there's many checkpoints.

This was the sale of my first house. They purchased FHA and used funds from multiple people in the family (Hispanic family with multiple incomes including kids) and it was shaky until the last minute. I remember not even packing in escrow because it seemed like it wasn't going to go through. Then it was a mad dash to get things in boxes and get out by the time allotted.
Moving blows too BTW. You want to see people come up with all kinds of reasons to be busy for a weekend .... ask them to help you move.
Cali is also just more up your ass as a seller for better or worse. Other states aren't nearly as demanding for disclosures from what i recall.
Listening to my coworkers stories about buying a house stresses me out for them. So many more moving parts than I expected. Buying a car is so simple by comparison.
The process of even finding a place before settling on one. Jesus. You learn real quick what's a solid "fuck that" and what you can or can't live with in a home. You gotta prioritize one thing in particular though unless you can be picky, chances are the first home you go for is not anywhere in the ballpark of your dream place. If it is, you're fucking lucky as hell. And even then sometimes a home just becomes too crowded and you gotta upgrade. The worst is going into a place and realizing how much stuff is "gotta be fixed asap" because that adds to your cost. Just looking is hell. That's before you throw down on any one thing.
Today is one of those dayswhere i keep repeating being a good person is enough of a reward in my head to try to convince myself its true

So many younger people I know in Cali suffer from not seeing a house as a stepping stone. One of the APM’s I work with said, “I would never move east of the 405”. (Freeway close to the beach). Good Fucking luck. My first house was in Ontario, which in traffic is 1.5+ hours east of LA, and it’s not a nice city.
In 2009 (when I got into the depressed market), my brother in law didn’t buy because he and his wife “wanted to buy once, buy perfect, set roots and never leave”. He still regrets passing on his opportunity.

By blackace Go To Postthe whole Japan squad stay drunk… just had my first beer at 1145By the time I left I was up to two bottles of high quality 7/11 brand rosé per day (and I would chug those things like kool aid). And somehow I always felt fine the next morning. Also, smoking Mevius and eating Coco Ichibanya like 5x a week. I probably took years off my life.
Coming back to Canada instantly made me stop drinking, quit smoking, start working out and eating properly. I’m actually in the best health of my life right now.
Give up those jpop fantasies and anime dreams, folks.
