PS4 exclusive, out on February 7th, there's a demo up right now that runs until January 22nd afaik. Very similar to the Souls games, with more of a focus on loot.
Just finished the first mission of the demo and love it. Took about half an hour of constantly fucking up just to learn the basics of stamina management. Beat the boss with no Elixirs left, and I'd have died if she'd hit me once. She also taught me the value of dat low stance. Gonna try doing some more stuff tomorrow, not sure if there are any more unlocks for the full game.
Not sure this thread will be very active but there seems to be 2 multiplayer modes, 1 which is essentially the same as summoning in Souls, and 1 that lets you invite friends and try and get through levels without using shrines (bonfires), and with the ability to revive eachother a limited number of times.
Very strongly recommend that you give the demo a go, and put enough time in it to try and get over the massive hump at the start.
Wonder if it'll do the unfortunate Souls thing of basically encouraging you to stick to a single weapon type all the way through, as you level yourself up to get the most out of it. Used the single Uchigatana basically all the way through the demo so far.

2 hours of gameplay

As someone who absolutely hates the Souls series
Really interested in Ni-oh. Gonna dig into the beta tonight

By Kikarian Go To PostI was doing so well until I found out first hand that you can't walk in water.:lol
Same here.
Turned the game off after, fuck that bullshit level design.
Can't even get close to killing the second boss
He reminds me of the hunters in Bloodborne, only with a massive health pool

pretty sure that's not the case since you get loads and loads of weapons on each level. I think I used up to fucking 20 in the beta
the semi-PVP duels were a GOLD MINE of gear
Already think I might need to go back and get a good faster weapon. Even in low stance I'm not getting enough hits in on this guy before he's back on the offensive.
beat ogress, make sure you have ki dodge unlocked--fight is ridiculous without it
i like the changes made since the alpha, combat is all around much faster
seeing a lot of soul stans whining about the game's difficulty is also lawl

this is tough
i have a sneaky suspicion that if you return the gesture it uses, it will not go hostile.

a wall, yes.
I wanna be good at this so bad. High level play looks boss.
Gonna give it a rest until the game is out, since progress doesn't carry over.

Even if you don't read the spoilers in gaf threads you pick up more than you'd like
Hope there's a free duel mode in the dojo, I need to practise how to parry
Still no word on whether the EU physical version comes with any DLC. Digital price is extortionate.
Hopefully the DLC is stuff that you'd outlevel after a few minutes if it doesn't come with it.

By Facism Go To PostSimplygames selling this for 55 raheems LMAOSeems to have been going up
Ordered it a few weeks for 40 Elizabeths, was 44 Theresas when I checked last week. 55 Brexits is crazy, you'd be a lunatic to order it at that price when its over a tenner less everywhere else.

beating ninja gaiden 2 on master ninja is still my greatest action game achievement
might check this game out...but then again I haven't beaten bloodbourne yet

They didn't have time to playtest it properly it turns out.
Will play on PC.
How long is it supposed to be, do we know? Also, how the Pro support?
I might have to play it further down the lime. Just beat TLG (;_;), now I have to decide in which order I'm going to play Watch Dogs 2 (eh, managed to get quite far in the story while I was testing it, kinda want to see the end of it), RE7 and Yakuza 0. Need to clear these 3 games before Torment comes out and consumes me for a month or three.
Or I could play Ni-Oh and skip Yakuza 0 (for the time being).

@Zabo, luckily none of those games are reliant on online features. I'd get Nioh first, simply because it has some semblance of multiplayer. The Pro support seems to be more about getting the framerate to 60fps than making it look great. Think with the Pro you get 4 graphics options, along the lines of effects, performance, balanced and 4k mode.

not being able to have your feet on the ground for more than a second made it an exhilarating experience imo

What's the online like? Souls-y? /Hitch
By Ciaran Go To Postwhat do you mean 'NEED'I should've said want to! Haven't been playing much over the past two and a half months, but now I'm feeling very much up for it. Gotta play fast while I'm in the mood. The Last Guardian was brilliant. Thankfully most of these games can be finished in 10-15h, which is perfect.
Souls-like stage-summon, or password protected co-op where you can apparently revive eachother a certain number of times
No idea how solo progress is determined when you play multiplayer
Does anyone know if Twilight missions are rotated by Team Ninja, or do they give you the ones that are suitable for you? Playing The Division taught me how fucking annoying it is when the devs keep rotating in missions that are hard as nais

This video makes a good case for Ni-Oh. It seems to be a way deeper game than I imagined. Which is great, but it also means it's a big commitment, which in turn means it's probably gonna be a while before I get to it. Q1 2017 is pretty insane, yeah.
Hope there are weapons that are visibly and permanently infused with elemental damage
Very small loot mechanic spoiler: Seems that legendary loot is only unlocked in NG+. Thoughts? Not sure I like the idea, since I never played a Souls game more than once. Would prefer it was locked behind Twilight missions, though you'd end up with low level legendary items if that was the case

white/blue/purple/yellow loot in main game.
Green (Divine) opens up post-game.
