Republicans are trying to rally around this after they fucked their constituents. So are we as a country dumb enough to fall for "Yeah we fucked you….. but are you tired of those smug liberals saving your life?" Cause that is literally what Fox News is pumping out there. The dems reacted badly but its true…… They should be able to slaughter moderate republicans with this.

It is indeed terrible, but no doubt in my mind that this repeal gets us on the path to Single Payer faster.
By Kibner Go To PostMeanwhile, the GOP fucking carted in beer to celebrate their "victory." Fuck 'em all.
Yeah shit like this just makes my blood boil even more. I can't fathom how anyone still supports fucking Republicans and why no one shows up to vote when they pull blatantly evil shit.

It's time for progressives to stop seeing the silver lining in defeats and go out and crack some GOP skulls.

At some point it will not be her call to make. I fully expect anybody who's wishy washy on single payer when TrumpCare is the law of the land gets a swift kick in the balls in Dem primaries.
I Keep trying to think is there a precedent of them ever doing something like this?
Like nobody wants this...... not even the majority of their constituents.

So we have to assume Trump and the Koch brothers made up because if I remember right they were saying they would fund Repub opponents in the primaries who voted for it.
The Koch brothers are against this bill. To my knowledge this has not changed. It's not free enough.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostSo?It comes across as super childish and embarrassing, even if they have a point. You don't stoop to their level, you do better.

The path is fairly obvious anyways. Social platform of Medicare for all while keeping the broad social justice aspirations of the current Democratic Party.
Enough appeasement, enough half-measures, enough moral victories, enough "bu bu bu what about health insurance industry jobs." The moral evil of our healthcare system is now evident to most.
We are the richest country in the history of the world by far. It's time to act like it.

I'll admit that I have no idea what "Single Payer" is.
I spent most of my adult life on medicaid when everything was paid for, and even then, that was for practically everyone else in my household except 2 trips to the ER for food poisoning (this was before Urgent Cares started becoming popular). Besides the deductions from my paycheck, I really do not pay much attention to this beyond all my peeps in academia with their psychological/undisclosed personal conditions being outraged.
I'm more or less an observer.

Senate Republicans plan to dramatically overhaul the House ObamaCare replacement bill that passed Thursday and are warning the process could take weeks.
The House bill, the American Health Care Act, has raised an array of concerns among Senate Republicans, chiefly among lawmakers from swing states who are opposed to the cap on ObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion that would take effect in 2020.
GOP senators are also troubled by analyses that the legislation would significantly cut federal subsidies for people between the ages of 50 and 65, especially in rural areas such as Maine, Montana, Nebraska and North Carolina.
Senate Republicans say the bill in its current form cannot pass, and some of them privately question whether it will ever get a floor vote. There’s also skepticism in the conference that they will be able to cobble together 51 votes behind any plan.
“I think it needs a lot of improvement,” Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), who is concerned about the Medicaid provisions, said about the House bill.

IS this even a debate anymore?
Billingslea knew Flynn would be speaking to Kislyak, according to two former Obama administration officials, and seemed concerned Flynn did not fully understand he was dealing with a man rumored to have ties to Russian intelligence agencies.
To the Obama White House, Billingslea’s concerns were startling: a member of Trump’s own team suggesting the incoming Trump administration might be in over its head in dealing with an adversary.
The request now stands out as a warning signal for Obama officials who would soon see Flynn’s contacts with the Russian spiral into a controversy that would cost him his job and lead to a series of shocking accusations hurled by Trump against his predecessor’s administration.
The outgoing White House also became concerned about the Trump team’s handling of classified information. After learning that highly sensitive documents from a secure room at the transition’s Washington headquarters were being copied and removed from the facility, Obama’s national security team decided to only allow the transition officials to view some information at the White House, including documents on the government’s contingency plans for crises.

I'm not saying it isn't news, but the focus on Russia connection stories seem like wishful thinking to me.
Trump has already shown himself to be utterly without shame (as has the elected GOP) so even if something were revealed that would torpedo a previous president, I have no faith that it would actually push him out of office.
And even if it did we're left with President Pence which is also terrifying.
The only real solution is electoral defeat.

Fucking asshole straight lying to his district.
“This is not law yet,” Blum explained to one constituent who was upset about his vote. He added that the Senate may yet change the legislation.
One woman stood up and decried the process in which Republicans passed the bill ― including their decision to not wait for the Congressional Budget Office to analyze its cost and coverage projections. She also claimed Blum’s staff told her the congressman had not read the bill.
“You voted for this bill in a rush. There were no committee hearings. This is my life,” she said. “The Congressional Budget Office didn’t score this bill ... what was the rush?”
Fucking asshole straight lying to his district.
