BladeRunner 2049 Teaser Trailer
The movie will be great but I wasn't big on this teaser. The original was great but I don't think Deckard was a strong enough character to be getting the oh shit he's back treatment for the films first reveal.

Being revealed in the teaser isn't getting the "oh shit he's back treatment" I don't think.
I mean he kinda steps out from the shadows, but his voiceover already revealed he was in the trailer.

trailer is out in 3 days
weird lighting at 0:58/the video preview itself, doesn't match the green screen cgi. only thing that stood out to me.
great synth music, I liked some of the city shots. hope the movie doesn't have too much of the deserted areas and outdoors, more cyberpunk city environments pls.

I am hyped.
Rewatched Blade Runner this weekend. It is a great universe, but that movie isn't that great.
Like the direction they look to be taking this in.

Holy shit Mackenzie Davis out of nowhere.
I don't know how I feel about this trailer. Mostly just "hmm... ok"

The visual design in the trailer appears to be more muted than I would like. Still excited to see it.
My only problem is the look of the world. Visually it looks like nothing has been lived in. Even when shots in the original are obviously staged the environment looked like people or someone was living there. It's very modern design
Initial impressions are that it was mostly empty, but it might've just been the areas the trailer focused on.
There's definitely some "life" like in the original:

but even in those shots everyone looks in place. It's like they showed up just to be on a set.
EDIT: This is a problem I have with all modern art design in film, tv, and even comics.

I sorta agree and get what you're going for, but it's way too early to tell from the trailer alone. What was wonderful about the original was Deckard's interaction with the cook and environment that gave it life. We'll see what Villeneuve does.
Sidenote: We gonna talk about how Mackenzie Davis looks like Pris and that Sylvia Hoeks looks like Rachael or nah?

Just going off the trailer alone, this doesn't look all that different from that dumb Ghost in the Shell movie that just came out. Also the fact that Jared Leto is in this makes me not want to see it.
Man, what? lol
The difference between this and GotS trailer is that GotS was aping the Blade Runner aesthetic whereas this is a continuation of an aesthetic to the original. Plus, don't you dare compare Villeneuve to the trash that is Rupert Sanders.

Continuation, mimicking, either way they look more or less the same to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not comparing the original Blade Runner in any way to a shitty GITS remake.
By reilo Go To PostIf you haven't seen her in Halt & Catch Fire, then you're missing out on her best work.Yep, she's so good in this. Haven't seen the 3rd season yet, but I really enjoyed the first 2. Glad she's branching out into interesting films.

The dude isn't wrong. I'd argue GitS had a better trailer too. It's going to be really interesting to see how successful this film ends up financially.
In terms of aesthetic--it's too clean for my tastes so far, but its early days.
By Wedward Go To PostWhere does everyone stand on Harrison's gray tee shirt?
eh, t-shirts will never go out of fashion, or at least they won't for people who don't give a fuck. non-issue.
the movie does need some work on the clean, colorful look of the city though. needs to be grimy, lived-in, also have more use of haze, fog and smoke.
Yeah the city definitely needs to feel more lively, but I can't really judge based off the trailer. There's not many shots of areas where there should be a lot of people present.
