Dave Chappelle, who recently gave fans some post-election catharsis while hosting Saturday Night Live, is coming to Netflix. The comedian will be doing three specials for the streaming service—all scheduled to be released simultaneously in 2017.
Give me!
By s y Go To PostApparently, Dave's Netflix deal for the three specials is $60 million.

Reviews for Age Of Spin are out and they've been good. None yet for the other special coming out tomorrow.

Enjoyed the first special. People who like to be outraged are going to have field day with it though.
first one was great. the only knock I have is that on his more contentious jokes he draws them out. it's to make a point and he ties it into the theme of his show but he doesn't ride the shock punchline too well in this one. But it was legitimately clever and cohesive - definitely a master of his craft.
i was very happy to see a more retooled routine than the one I saw live last year: I only knew two jokes beforehand. he weaves new experiences and current events into his routine so seamlessly.

Can't say me spotting Evilore in the first row on the second special didn't make me enjoy it less. Yeah i'm a hater.
By Moris Go To PostGonna watch em both today, Saving Age of Spin for last since its supposedly a better set. Both are really funny. His Texas set is a bit more sophomoric
GAF is having a bit of field day and fit that EL is sitting in the front row laughing at jokes he'd ban people for. LMAO.
The biggest problem with the gay jokes is that they just aren't very funny.
Overall, pretty good, but I don't think he is as good as he once was.
Hi delivery is still great though.

By n8 dogg Go To PostWatching the first one. Think its a bit one note. Black joke, gay joke. Repeat.
I feel this way, too /Dean
Just not enough shock in his shock, if you get me. You get a man like Frankie Boyle who not only goes balls deep, but he packs his balls into the asshole at the same time, whenever he covers a topic.
I was entertained by the first one, but it was hugely pedestrian. Loved the OJ wrap-around, though.
I was actually a little surprised at some of the negative things I've been reading about it. I think Dave (as usual) comes across as really thoughtful and empathetic when he tackles touchy subjects. This is a direct quote from the first special when talking about transgender issues:
"Is this a time in American history where people can make a decision for themselves and even though other Americans don't understand it, they'll support it and let this person live a happy life? Is this what's happening? If it is, then good for America”
And then makes a point about being jealous of that acceptance as a black american. I don't agree with everything he says, I rarely do with any comedian, but people just seem so eager to dismiss stuff the second it strikes a negative chord with them.
Plus the man's just unbelievably funny.

I did like the punchline to the Cosby joke, and the bit about the rapist superhero was good too. It was just so lacking in variation. I dunno, maybe I need to be black to enjoy him a little more :lol
Will watch the second one this weekend.
Will watch the second one this weekend.
I enjoyed it but it definitely doesn't stack up to Killing Em Softly or For what It's Worth.
Only seen the first episode so far.

Both shows were solid, but he kinda lost a step. The core premises for certain parts, like the trans jokes, are good, but the language is rough and he misses the landing. He doesn't have an adequate understanding of what he's joking about there yet.
Episode 2 was much better. I was out walking and trying not to laugh out loud during the diarrhea and lil wayne parts

Yeah...I watched the first one, it was like a guy who came out of cryogenic freezing from the pre-social media era and is scrambling to catch up. Like, you can watch some women in the front row just looking uncomfortable through all the rape jokes.
Also, it was super distracting how he kept stroking his stomach through the whole thing. Like he was conscious about having a bit of a gut and was trying to massage it away.
By rvy Go To PostNow all I need is Netflix to give Chris Rock their money and I can die a happy man.I thought that already got confirmed
Chris come back.
