By diehard Go To PostDumb question but how open are you to suggestions for topics of discussion?very!
I think DY was about to start on this, but yeah, the league's rules and defensive systems have changed such that low-post play is more difficult than it used to be. The combination of the removal of illegal defense and teams just being much smarter about how to play defense makes it easier to limit.
Teams will straight up ignore you if you aren't a threat to score. The lack of illegal defense means they will walk 15ft away from you (usually towards the paint) to double or deny someone else.
The rules of the game now encourage a more open-court, attacking style because there are more options than before to shut players down on the low-block. If you want to be successful down low, you need to be good enough to draw a double team and then make the right pass out of it to a player that is either in position to hit a shot at a high-percentage or cause the defense to scramble even more such that good look is given to someone else.

I don't disagree, it has almost always been that way.... however I think there are quite a few players who have the tools to be good enough to be double teamed if the knew how to play in the post

I think the initial decline after teams learned how to take advantage of the rule changes resulted in less people teaching it, which just kept spiraling the decline. We are to the point now where, even if a guy can play in the post, there may be no one on the team that knows how to throw him a good entry pass when the post guy is in position to make a play.
But there is hope with KAT and Okafor in the league now.. I am assuming post play starts to come back in style again and GMs start drafting height again..
By blackace Go To PostBut there is hope with KAT and Okafor in the league now.. I am assuming post play starts to come back in style again and GMs start drafting height again..There's just been a resurgence in quality big men the last few years that has coincided well with there being more and better shooters on the floor to pair with them that is going to bode well for opening things up down low, imo.
Will you maybe do an episode on the old days? And maybe how teams adapt and evolve.
Speaking of how Curry adapted his play to become a new form of player.
Or that's what I read at least :)

By diehard Go To PostDumb question but how open are you to suggestions for topics of discussion?40 minutes on why Ricky Rubio is actually incredible.

Do you really want DY's analysis on Ricky? I'm still reeling from his Randle rant.
By Moris Go To PostDo you really want DY's analysis on Ricky? I'm still reeling from his Randle rant.I'm kidding. I know where he stands. His Kris Dunn stanning just really amuses me.
By rodeoclown Go To Post40 minutes on why Ricky Rubio is actually incredible.Just for you I will bring him up lol
By DY_nasty Go To PostI really didn't mean to go in on young julius like that lol i swear that wasn't the planlol the next session is going to be epic..

By blackace Go To PostStill wanted to know what topic dIEHARD wantedWhoops sorry.
Right now it has been quite a bit of pretty high-level discussion , like analytics and draft / AAU stuff.
I know it might be lame and it all the podcasts do it , but how about like playoffs predictions for East/West? Or like breaking down teams and what you see for their season and future?
I think my favorite part so far was the discussion of recent draft picks.
By diehard Go To PostWhoops sorry.ah!! you gonna like next month's episodes then!

but I figured we'd do a predictions episode in Oct
With Thibs managing minutes, I think it's less important how many in-game minutes they play and more important how he limits them in practice.
Also, you guys left out the part where the Bulls medical staff had Asik play on a broken leg. And that their doctor messed up a spinal tap on Deng.
Aww, nothing about Kermit Washington destroying Rudy Tomjanovich's career with a single punch?
I don't remember if that did come up and got cut.. but yeah that was brutal..
that new mic is going to be glorious..

Next one should include a segment on Dy's feelings about Klay Thompson :). Like, that breakdown by him and the back and forth would be AMAZING.
Y'all could go into more double-standards-type stuff with the clothing policy that came into play with AI, as well. And kind of curve off into how that has resulted in the NBA becoming fashion trend-setters.

but maybe working in a Dy's grumpy corner would be epic
In order to keep fans away, the league could always bring back caged courts!
e: ah, just heard a brief mention of Kermit Washington. nothing about the outcome, just that it was a good punch

By Kibner Go To PostDon't sleep on Jokic. He's easily on the same tier as Porzingis.
He going to be a good player in the NBA. But I think KP is going to be a star soon.
Gave it a listen, you guys have definitely got something here. Keep building.
- Ace, how have you been like the one sentence assassin your entire internet career, while so verbose irl?
- The whole time that punch discussion was going on, I was literally thinking "the Childs-Kobe two piece. The two-piece!"
- I'm sure you guys are way ahead of me on this, but working in clear break points for the end of each podcast is a must.
- Also, happy that my Advanced STAT joke has now been immortalized in podcast lore.

As for the breaks, I realized that we needed them after why finished lol.. I am on it this time!
Cool. Also, you guys need to get off Moris' back. He had the best line of the whole thing with the Knicks Frankenstein joke. I literally laughed out loud for a good 25 seconds, and I've heard pretty much every Knicks slam.

By DY_nasty Go To Postshout out to moris for working overtimeMoris is real!!!
We can try to start an hour earlier next time
Shameless bump...
However with the 2nd episode now recorded and being molded from rambling to a masterpiece by Moris... I am thinking of the 3rd episode which will be season predictions . So with the Cast being broken into 3 parts each month I am thinking of a decent format to use for it. I have a few thoughts on it but I am really wondering what everyone thinks...
