i've decided to just wait--I don't feel like waiting for non founders addition cards and the 1080ti will be here before we know it
if titan x resale value drops enough I'll consider SLI or eat the loss when I upgrade

Looks like my 980ti is still looking good
Was worried for a second that these would blow it out of the water but it seems like 20% performance bump with a 1080 in most games.
Who am i kidding, i only play CSGO and Rocket League anyway.

i can see this being some shitty trend NVIDIA does because they know people will buy the card anyway
So, I had no idea what a Founders Edition card was and looked it up: http://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2016/5/12/11662346/nvidia-founders-edition-geforce-gtx-explained
I will wait for third parties to release their versions and pick up whatever is the quietest and most reliable.

Seems to be a worthwhile upgrade over the 980 , and at 4k it's a big improvement over the 980ti and Titan x. 10fps+ is a large and noticeable difference. Going from 35 to 45 or 45 to close to 60 does wonders, especially if you have 4k gsync monitor.
We are getting close to 4k/60fps and at the least 4k and playable frames with high settings.
All this really illustrates is Big Pascal with HBM2 is gonna fuking rek

wish there was a way I could try out 4k--I just haven't felt any need at all for increased clarity beyond 1080p.
once I get my 4k set i'll hook it up to my pc and play the witcher, doom, or some other high quality game and see if that draws me in but idk

I think I mentioned this to you before. IMO if you don't go for more cores, then you should be buying the i7 variant of whatever quad core you buy. At least you'll get hyper threading, which isn't as good as additional costs, but it will help.
I also think once you try 4k, you'll see what the hype is about. Best way I can describe it is the difference between 720p and 1080p, but even greater than that.

im gonna need someone to verify this
By Kabro Go To Posta 1080 only has 256bit of bus bandwidth?
yeah, im sticking to a titanX/titan/or 980ti for now
Yeah. That and the lower VRAM was one of the reasons I'm like eh.
I can't deny those gains at 4k tho
Because the threads are seen as more cores, even though they're not. That's why if you have something like a 2500k ya shit is really aging, but if you have a 2600k you're in a little bit better shape.
Engines are built with ps4 and x1 in mind, remember. And those have 8 (shitty) cores.

Wasn't sure if that was still an issue.
I consistently get an itch to build a new gaming rig, but I think the Smokey side of me enjoys the build out almost more than the idea of PC gaming these days. I just can't justify the cost or the time towards gaming nowadays

By Hitch Go To PostBuy a massive lego setOr an electric R/C monster truck that goes 60mph. Identifying what pieces broke and how to use the replacement parts to get everything working again after a wreck is lots of fun!
There is a rush to building and the power button, then watching everything power up on the first try.
That's one of the main reasons I tried a Tri SLI Titan Black build. It was pretty insane, but getting everything to work and the finished product was rewarding af.
When I do a rebuild late this year or next, may try and tackle custom water.

When I built my PC, I thought it was broken. Was expecting the lights to turn on, but nothing.
I had forgotten to switch the PSU on

Naw, it's worse when you forget to plug in the internal speaker and shit won't boot without it. Had that happen with my last build. Was fucking furious.
By diehard Go To Postwhats an internal speakerThis thing that makes the beeping POST sounds: http://www.amazon.com/PC-Internal-Mini-Onboard-Speaker/dp/B002W4M0DW
But you knew that already so not sure why you're asking.
im just giving ya shit, i havent had a mobo that didn't have a LED POST code thing on it for like 15 years
The $200+ ASUS mobo from 2012 required it for whatever reason and didn't boot until I added it. At the time I honestly thought that shit was done with as well.
would a mobo that suits an i53570k be fine for the newest cpu's coming out?
I don't enjoy fucking with mobos

No. They are on different sockets.
3570k is socket 1155. Skylake is 1151. Remains to be seen if Kaby Lake will use 1151 later this year, but some reports think it will.
What are you concerned about?
Simple as knowing the socket of the CPU youbl want, and reading reviews of mobos that go with it. Then it's just a matter of finding out what features are important to you.

I sort of want to get a 1080 but I don't even know if I'll have room for my desktop when I move to london in a few months

Thinking of going with a high end mATX or ITX build next, now that SLI seems to be getting punted by devs.
By Smokey Go To PostThinking of going with a high end mATX or ITX build next, now that SLI seems to be getting punted by devs.I have an affinity for large cases with an abundance of large fans I keep at low RPMs. Like this Silverstone FT02B
The motherboard is also mounted so that it's rotated 90 degrees so that the air moves from bottom to top instead of front to back.

I had the FT02 in a previous build :p
This was my 2600k rig. The only reason I moved from it was I wanted to do Tri SLI and there wasn't enough room in it. So I moved to the Air 540 which is pretty great with tons of room
Nice! Do you also use Silent PC Review to help pick out a new one?
I've never used that site. I did a lot of research over at overclock.net and YouTube reviews of Tri SLI setups. I like Corsair cases so it was either the 900d or 540, and I want with latter.

My computer has typically been in my bedroom (though it's in the main living area now) so I go for quiet parts whenever I have a choice. As a result, that SilentPCReview website has served me well.
By Kibner Go To PostNice! Do you also use Silent PC Review to help pick out a new one?i used the forum quite a bit but i'm also slightly over my "has to be as quiet as possible" phase after i got a great set of noise cancelling headphones.
i did use it for my work pc tho and got some good advice. i hate fan noise.
Reason thinking of mATX it ITX is because I may want to hook up my PC to a large 4k set when I get one. Plus need room for VIVE anyway .
By Smokey Go To PostReason thinking of mATX it ITX is because I may want to hook up my PC to a large 4k set when I get one. Plus need room for VIVE anyway .For years, I've been debating building a tiny PC (fits inside a case that is designed to look like a piece of home stereo equipment) to act as a DVR/media center, home server, and now to play Steam games (through in-home streaming).
Getting the DVR part setup seems like a ton of work, though, so I have never done it.
If I have to swap a new mobo and CPU I might as well be doing a new build smh
thoughts on this case smokey?

Have you done water cooling before, Phaze? Are you going to do lots of overclocking to take advantage of it?
Literally never heard of that, and it looks too gamerish for me. For $250 I think you can do way better.
By Kibner Go To PostHave you done water cooling before, Phaze? Are you going to do lots of overclocking to take advantage of it?
Not really but if the case comes prebuilt to do it for me I won't complain.
1080 looking more annoying than anything at the moment. Going to stick with my titan
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostNot really but if the case comes prebuilt to do it for me I won't complain.Water cooling is more of a pain to maintain than air cooling. And heaven forbid your pump goes out and you have to change it. It's not a feature I would go for without a good reason.

The more I look at it, the more intrigued I get by the card. It's basically the perfect card for max settings+60fps @ 2560x1440.
https://youtu.be/kQTRlDoCVUw
Every game tested in the video is modern, and except for a few exceptions (upper 50s), frame rate is comfortably over 60 @ 1440p. I got my alerts set up to let me know when it's in stock. Might jump and then flip for Titan Pascal depending on its 4k performance. I can't do 4k in the 30s.
