On the 20th of November, Jessica Jones makes her big debut on Netflix. Taking place once again in Hell´s Kitchen, the show tells the story of former heroine Jessica Jones who has hanged her costume and has now open a detective agency. Jones is a broken woman, her previous life as a superhero has left her with a serious case of PTSD and she now just tries to live day by day, working to make enough for rent and alcohol to drown her problems.
But she will soon have to face the demons of her past when her worst nightmare returns to the city...
Characters :
Played by Krysten Ritter ( "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" , "Breaking Bad"), Jessica Jones was once a superhero but that part of her life ended in tragedy and she is still being haunted by what happened. Now a private detective, Jones is only concerned in getting new cases to keep a roof of her head. She is a mess of a woman who doesn´t let anyone get near her and who drinks herself to sleep on most nights.
Mike Colter ("The Following", "The Good Wive") makes his first appearance as Luke Cage, another future member of The Defenders. Reviews
The show, which features an exceptional performance from Krysten Ritter and sure-handed guidance from executive producer Melissa Rosenberg, is not just a contender for the title Best Marvel-related TV Property; in a supremely crowded TV scene, it is one of the year’s most distinctive new dramas.
- Variety
Like the conspiracy thriller of Captain America’s Winter Soldier, or space fantasy of Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel succeeds with a focus on genre, not heroes. Jessica Jones isn’t a superhero series; it’s super-horror. Marvel’s first taste of true terror, flavored with a dash of noir.
Jessica Jones is a superhero Silence of the Lambs. Drop the anticipation of a familiar spectacle, and it’s goddamn extraordinary.
- Screen Crush
Kilgrave’s ability to control minds could take him anywhere, make him anything, but instead he’s in Hell’s Kitchen causing chaos. If they manage to maintain this level of writing for the remainder of the series, he could be the best on-screen comic book villain since Heath Ledger’s Joker.

FAQ´s
When will this be up? It should be up on Netflix at 8:00 AM UK time / 3:00 AM EST/ 12:00 AM PST
How many episodes will there be? 13
Is this in the same universe as Daredevil / The Avengers ? Yes. Rosario Dawson´s character, Claire Temple, will show up on the show and Matt Murdock is rumored to also appear
Will we get to see Jessica in her costume? Apparently yes, there will be some sort of flashback scene
I liked Daredevil, will I like this? Probably yes but they are two very different shows. Don´t expect as much action and well choreographed fighting scenes as in Daredevil, Jessica Jones is more of psychological thriller.
Who is the show runner? Melissa Rosenberg, the writer behind one of the best movie franchises of all time, "Twilight"!! Don´t worry, she also was behind the first 3 seasons of "Dexter" and has extensive work on series like "The O.C.", "Red Widow", "Party Of Five" and "Dr.Quinn, Medicine Woman".
It is not her first go at writing female superheroes for TV, she wrote some episodes for "Birds Of Prey, which was about a future Gotham where Batman had vanished and Oracle, The Huntress and the Black Canary´s daughter fought crime.
I heard there was an unusual sex scene? Yes, Jessica takes it up the butt on the first episode
By reilo Go To PostOT should be "Purple is the new Orange" :PI like that. Changed.
I don't know anything about the character or lore or any of that good stuff that makes comic characters important.
But I think Ritter is just great. Don't Trust The Bitch in Apt. 23 is one of the best comedies of the last few years. It's a shame it didn't have a longer run, but what's out there is very, very good stuff.

By Mangoverboard Go To PostSo hyped for this. Skipping Uni tomorrow to watch it all.
I only have classes in the morning, it´s going to be a Jessica Jones filled afternoon.
Wasn't interested before but looking into this I'll have to give it a try.
A little bit weary of David Tennant though. I've hated him in everything I've seen him in so far.

I was reading up on the character a bit and I'm wondering if there will be any crossover with their Dare Devil series. Both character's seem to operate in the same setting and time.

yeah, that's already announced and he may show up in this.
Luke Cage will get a series
Iron Fist will get one and then
they all team up for a Avengers type of series
at least that was the plan, they struggle with Iron Fist atm.
maaan I hope they do Iron Fist right. Kinda sad there's no Luke Cage and Iron Fist buddy show but I'll take the Defenders series.
They have a lot of time before Iron Fist so I'm not too worried atm

Yeah, this looks badass. Been trying to get people at work signed up to watch this over the week of Thanksgiving.
By blackace Go To Posttoo bad they got the lesser Dr. Who :(Peter Capaldi would fuck Jessica up.

Watched the first 4 episodes without taking a break. I really like it so far, the ending of the 4th was unexpected and I also really enjoyed the way they brought on the battle of New York into the story.
Just wrapped it up. Good show overall. The action leaves a lot to be desired as it's not nearly as stylized as most Marvel fare, but great storytelling and a satisfying conclusion. They took the most liberties with Patsy's character, but Jessica, Luke, and Kilgrave are near perfect translations.
It's a lot heavier emotionally than Daredevil, and I can't see the other two shows matching it in that respect either.

Does anyone have a good explanation for the toilet paper scene in the first episode? We never saw here wash her hands or find more TP. I was mad the rest of the episode. She's touching people and things with those hands. Ewwwww. Why isn't her skin green?
Ep 6: You are a hard drinking, short fused, mess of a woman...but you aren't a piece of shit.
loooooool

Series was dope AF. My only real issue was that it felt like her powers were all over the place. I understand why it was necessary for the story, but I couldn't help but roll my eyes when she got ganged up on by the taser mob. It's nitpicky as all hell, and I get it (considering that they went out of their way to show her not actually knowing how to fight), but still, between it and the bar scene they made it look like any normal man, woman, or child should have been free as fuck for her. I had similar issues with Captain America, but they rectified it with The Winter Soldier.
Killgrave was equal parts menacing and charismatic and had some truly GOAT film/tv moments. Had the :wow: face when he dialed Hot 97 and started talking his shit. Some of his moments were really Hannibal(esque), in terms of him channeling the devil.
I am sooooooooo glad that they (ending spoilers) killed him off. I might have 1 starred it if they didn't. lol
Stoked for another season and can't wait for the Luke Cage series.

I'll admit to still being on the high from it, but it did cause me to binge watch the whole thing. It's def worth a watch.

Do you like slow boiling detective stuff? Don't expect Daredevil amounts of action. It's also depressing as hell.
Finished it last night. I really liked it, there´s definitely some issues but I love that it´s a show so completely different from every other superhero show. The cast was spot on for most of the roles. I really want a second season and I want to see Nuke popping up on other shows.
Pretty strong start, middling middle, solid finish.
Quality production overall. Weak action and the story was spread too thin, especially over the second third of the season.
I also didn't find it to be that much darker and heavier emotionally than Daredevil, but that's obviously subjective to the max.
Up there with Daredevil for me. Good, but quite a ways from great. Still, on a different level compared to trash like Arrow.

Just saw the first episode and it is way darker than I expected. Also a lot more sex involved than I thought there would be too.
Two episodes in and the show isn't doing anything for me. The freaky twins are maybe the only time the show feels alive.
It's weird because the show hits a couple of genres I normally enjoy, but it doesn't really do either genre all that well. The pace is extremely slow and the noir vibe is too weak to carry it through. Problem may be that New York at night is so common that the visuals don't register on the mental flavor monitor.
However, so far, I think the main thing holding the show back is that it hasn't sold Jessica Jones as a detective. She feels like an out of work superhero and that vibe goes against much of what the show wants the viewer to buy into.
