Craig: I'd rather 'slash my wrists' than play James Bond again
- Page 1 of 1
After playing James Bond in the last four films of the successful franchise, including the forthcoming "Spectre," the British actor told Time Out London he's ready to put the role behind him.http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/08/entertainment/daniel-craig-james-bond-feat/
Craig has implied as much in previous interviews. But this time, he left no doubt when asked, "Can you imagine doing another Bond movie?"
"Now? I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."
Throw in your new Bond wishlist.

By J-Twelve Go To PostIf they had any balls they'd get Donnie Yen.I'm not sure how this would work? I mean, the action scenes would be GOAT, but Donnie isn't a good actor. Plus he's gone after Ip Man 3.
Idris Elba is the obvious answer, personally. But they won't do it.
I've been on the Michael Fassbender hype train the last few years myself. He's got the looks and acting chops, and he's the right age.
Not sure if the Half-German/Half-Irish part is a deal breaker.

I have only seen the Daniel Craig 007 movies so I have no real exposure to the older ones and I have no idea what to even expect out of a new actor other than look dandy and fit at around 40 years old.
I feel like a female Bond is a possibility nowadays
first they broke the blonde barrier and now...surely
well it doesnt matter, just give me someone who can act and is relatively hot

I don't give a fuck if they cast one of the womenladies or minorities as James Bond, but if they do end up recasting with some white guy, I'm gonna lose my mind if I read some dumb outrage-piece saying "Hollywood cast ANOTHER white male in a role that's always been a white male. THE NERVE."

Ugh. Vomit. And I'm watching parks and rec as I type that.
But i also didn't enjoy what ever marvel movie he was in either. Thought that was turrible.
By blackace Go To PostI am curious why Idris Elba would be terrible... He is British and handsome and all that...Too street, remember?

But I'd love to see a female spy movie in general.
How about Spy?
Also, I was going to say Giri is kind of closet racist but then I read the rest of the thread and will comfortably rest with "Giri just has bad opinions about everything movie related"
I'm comfortable making that statement.
Guardians of the galaxy was pretty amazing man, what are you smoking?

Spy technically wasn't a spy movie. It was an action comedy vaguely about spies. But I'll allow it because it was great.
By Vahagn Go To PostHow about Spy?Spy was arguably the best spy movie of the year. Can't believe that just slipped my mind

Idris Elba would be fantastic as Bond but depending on how he ages, might not have any more than 2 movies in him as 007.
Pratt? Gross.

I love hearing people say it's not about race but then use an unjustified racial sterotype to explain why
By blackace Go To PostI was asking Giri...I already knew that other wasteman's statement. It's not a racial stereotype against Elba, but one for bond, I just don't see bond as anything other than a white male from somewhere in the UK (any of the scot/irish/brit accent areas).

To be otherwise breaks the background/narrative of the character to my mind. I mean, it would be very hard to believe that Elba's family owned a family estate in rural Scotland that has been handed down for many generations. Not because Elba's black, but because Scotland wasn't when you go back a couple generations. From wiki, 96% still identify as White in Scotland, though I believe there is a large migrant population from elsewhere in Europe.
I say this because in the last Bond movie, Skyfall, "Bond drives M to Skyfall, his family estate and childhood home in Scotland."
In all other ways I think Elba would actually be a good "bond" style special agent / spy. And would go watch that hypothetical movie with no reservations.
It's similar in vein to casting Elba as Mussolini (hypothetically), or Pratt as Solomon in 12 years a slave. I'm sure they'd deliver good performances, well i'm sure Elba would, but it wouldn't fit the character.
The closest thing I can think of to a female bond is Scarlett Johansson. Don't want that to happen either. And I'll watch anything with her in it, and she's absolutely killed the last few movies she's been in. I don't get her casting in the GITS live action though. My understanding is she's to play the major, and my recollection is, the major has a predominantly Asian (Japanese in particular) character/history. I'm sure they could have found a suitable Asian actress that would have made the background more believable.
It's like when Dunst suggested spiderman should be female. Just, no.
I haven't seen Spy, but I have seen Salt and it was good.

Lol no
i've been bored with everyone since Royale, but I don't know what the popular opinion is--Skyfall reviewed extremely well and probably had a good boxoffice---so maybe I'm in the minority
