Hope it's good
I liked the premier! My expectations were tempered, maybe, from reading the reviews, but it's good, if a little slow. Vince Vaughn is great.
Watched it. Definitely enjoyed it. Kitchener's character is definitely most intriguing right now(WOW at his "girlfriend").
Speaking of Kitschner, his face looked really weird, like they applied some sort of makeup or it just really swollen or something.
-LOL at that Eminem eswue insult Ferrell's character spat out at the kid. Made me pause and laugh for a sec.

I didn't like it, but I know it was the beginning of the mystery. It deserves more time to win me over so I'll add it to my watch list
I really don't know what to make of that. So humourless (apart from that nonsensical Farrell insult to a 12 year old, and that was played as straight), overbearing dramatic music, a lack of focus in the first episode or hook that makes it different than everything else aside from its pedigree, too many aerial shots of a characterless city unlike last season's...
But the acting was solid enough, and it is the first episode. Will stick with it to the end, but was just a bit lacking in anything special.

By blackace Go To PostHaven't seen it yet TD's first episode in s1 didn't blow me away
Honestly I thought S1 premier was one of the best first episodes of a tv show I've ever seen.
This one wasn't at that level, but I am interested and I think I'm going to give it 2 or 3 eps to get things moving.
TD1 already had a focus though--started with a fucked up murder, then introduced this weird relationship between Rust and Marty that you knew ended some kind of way due to the interview/time switching, so that shit was already well focused from go
VV's stuff really really needs to get better though, huge time wasters for every scene he's in so far

Definitely enjoyed Kitchsner's character the most in the premier.

I didn't get sucked in until Ep2...
By Dissonance Go To PostOkay that episode was MUCH better. I'm 100% in now.
Yeah Episode 2 was a whole lot better.
S1's pilot ended on "Best start asking the right fucking questions then." Pretty extraordinary as far as endings go.

You stole my post.
I like this show a lot. Love the atmosphere.
Vaughn will always look like a clown tryin to go legit after his dodgeball career
He just cant run away from his rep and I was willing to give it a chance

Either the dialogue isn't written very well for Vaughn's character or he's just that bad at line delivery in this.

I've always felt Vaughn's strength was lively improv of the dialogue and this show has him reading word for word bleak sparse prose. Vincent D'onofrio would of been perfect for this based on what we saw him do in Daredevil but Vaughn is who they got instead.
An example of how miscast Vaughn is as a man of little words can be seen when his goons beat the guy up on the freeway and he came up and made his threat while trying to seem helpful. That scene was way more within his range than any other scene so far because he was talking fast and being sort of witty while doing it.
By Omzz Go To PostSo apparently this season is a ripoff of a bookahahahaha which book?!?!
Pizzo...
Better than last week's, but not considerably. Farrell the only member of the starring cast that's doing anything above mediocre (I like the mayor though). Plot hasn't gripped me in the slightest, and its lacking personality so far. End was good though.
By Pennywise Go To PostToo bad one of the trailers, before the series started spoiled something major :/and this is why you dont watch the trailers, lol
By Yurt Go To Postahahahaha which book?!?!the big nowhere
the main premise seems to be there from what I've read...but who knows how the tv show goes towards the finale. but yeah lots of similarities
I don't get all the hate on this. Vince Vaughn's delivery seems a bit off/stiff at times but the show is quite intriguing. Things are definitely picking up faster than S1.
By psychintellect Go To PostSo much cringeworthy dialogue by Vaughn in that last episode.
Enjoyed though. Loved the fake Elvis.
Conway Twitty wasn't it?
This episode was pretty good. They didn't really solve any part of the mystery but its cool. I've also given up any hope this season is nearly as good as last season. I'm just going to judge it for how good the mystery is and if its logical in how they go about solving it.
the weekly "im still in, lads" from the critics kills me
like there's anything better to watch atm anyway
I've gotta say I'm warming up to Vince! Though his fight scene was just terrible.
liking the new tag teams. The chemistry between Rachel and....everyone is nice

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postkitsch's stuff was absolutely nauseating last episode -_-Yeah...I was pleased with his performances inthe first two episodes......
Too much constipation face in this one.
The constipation face is there because he's clearly uncomfortable doing field work involving prostitution and homosexuality. They are a bit on the nose about it, but he's got some repressed sexual feelings and might be in the closet and is supremely uncomfortable in his own skin. Hence, the face.
thing is this show lasts only 1 season with these characters--so the fact that every aspect of his character has been devoted to dropping hints that he's closeted is really annoying

Better than the first two, but only because things are moving on the murder side of things and Farrell continues to knock it out of the park. Think both Kitsch and Vaughn are struggling immensely here; Kitsch because he's a poor actor (or at least he is in this) saddled with an uninteresting part, Vaughn because he's a poor fit for the role. When he tries to be verbose as Pizzaman has written, it doesn't work at all.
Series still missing the focus of last season, Fukunaga's eye, and someone to counterbalance the pseudo-clever ramblings of Vaughn's character.
Not batting much above a 5/10 so far, but its such a short commitment I'll stick with it.

Tough Room.
Season 1 was some of the best TV ever. Rusty and (Matt's performance) were a tour de force.
So yea, in this season Vaughn is weird as a serious actor (which everyone called from day 1) and Kitsch has really limited range and will always be Riggins. But McAdams and Farrell are on point and you kind of trust that Nic's going to deliver when it's all said and done.
As for Nic, dude needs to seriously stop plagiarizing. He's getting away with it because he's writing amazing TV - much like a troubled athlete who wins a couple of championships - but that free pass only lasts so long.
