It's just whey, whey out of line.

I think one of our new neighbors is an HoA snitch. The weekly garbage pickup didn't get our trash for whatever reason last week so we left our bin out a single day, assuming they were coming back to finish the job. We brought it in later that day. We apparently got hit with a warning/fine for having the bin out one extra day. lmao

Because he can.
Fender, while you're at it, come patrol my neighborhood and deal with the people parking on the sidewalks.

By Pedja Go To PostHOAs sound like the least American thing ever but also the most American thing ever.or capitalistic.
you're essentially paying an association to tell you what not to do.
brilliant.
Au contraire, a bunch of old people telling you what you can do or not for the sake of "keeping the peace" because they were there first is the most American thing ever
not bringing in bins is a solid someone got too much time on their hands for sure, folks also get dinged for a weed in the driveway smh
By FortuneFaded Go To PostActually, disregarding the wishes of the people who were there first is more Americanso proud rn
i lived in a building once with seniors that policed everyone like that. imagine if they had the power of an HoA.
By Pac-2 Go To PostWe can dream, DiPro.yeah.
a 80 year old woman once came knocking at my door at 7am on a sunday to tell me that i had left a paperclip in the washing room and i should clean up after myself. imagine if she could fine me for that.
Fond memories of my dad mocking and laughing at a neighbour who was mad over my dad's garden because it was "full of plants."
No shit mate it's a garden 💀 Cunt got missed on the fruit drop when we had too many pears/cherries/apples/figs each year.

that's literally how most of human society has worked m8
its only recently that parents are expected to do literally everything while also holding a full time job

when i was a kid my grandma and other great aunts took care of me every week day before my mom got off work
By data Go To PostWhen I was a kid I went to my gradma's MAYBE once every other weekendi went once every other month but my mom didn't have a job.
now my parents are doing kiddy daycare everyday for their grandkids lol. paid daycare is just too expensive. if you send more than one kid you are fucked.
Whole fam is involved, even the wierd unc who had tittie cutouts from old newspapers on his office wall
My mother dropped off my brothers at the grandparents before I was born because they were both working.
When I was born, 3 was to many to watch so my mom quit working and stayed at home.
If you can't stay at home, then yeah grandparents will be involved.

Never had any grandparents. Both of my grandparents on my dad's side were already dead by the time I was born and my mum didn't speak to either of her parents (she doesn't even know where her dad is or if he is even still alive).

America being all about the family is the biggest lie told
By Xpike Go To Postwhen i was a kid my grandma and other great aunts took care of me every week day before my mom got off workMy mom divorced (for good reasons) when I was ~7. My brother was maybe a year old. We were in daycare before and after school until I was ~11. She then signed me up for some classes at the hospital where I was taught first aid and also how to use the stove safely. I then took care of myself and my brother through middle school. When I got to high school and had to stay after for band practice, she put my brother back in daycare because she couldn't trust him by himself. lol
We spent time at my aunt's over the summer since she was a school teacher. Other than that, it was single-mom stuff with not much other support because we lived an hour away from everybody else.
Yea the sprawl and distance shit in the US is a huge driving factor for this separation and it's by design
I think up until I was 12 or so I was at my grandmas house more than my own. My parents never needed her to watch me I just liked going over there that much.

Well that's usually the case in Europe.
I live with my in-laws so my mother in law helps take care of my daughter.
Daycare is expensive and if you don’t have family to help, do yourself a favor and don’t even have kids.
When my wife goes back to work in March we’re gonna pay her mom to babysit but it’s still way less than we’d pay for a day care. We don’t have to worry about some asshole throwing cheese on her head for tik tok views, or worse.

You're also lucky to have a 3K and up program in NYC that only costs an application fee. Of course finding a good 3K program near you will be hard but it's pretty fucking unique in the US to even have it as an option.
Yeah I’m grateful for that as well. Still 2 years away but at least I don’t have to pay for baby sitting for very long.

Factoring in to why I'm potentially leaving the UK. None of my father's side of the family live here anymore. All my cousins and their kids have myriad family involved in each other's kid's upbringing. Want that for my kids.

also they did speak another language there.
