By Laboured Go To PostIt's a gaming thread m8."I'm looking forward to playing a Bethesda game because at least I am not playing a Kojima game" really shouldn't be the answer to anything.
It's okay to not play either.
I'm looking at you Witcher fans.
I'm looking at you Gears of War fan AKA Rodeo.

“I don't press a button when I go out with my dog for a walk. I just go out with the dog and the dog does his thing, and he knows that if I don't like something he's done then he doesn't do it. That's how you control the dog in the game. We give you no control over the dog. Just think about that for a second… No control over the dog. You haven’t got a dog button… You control the dog by playing the game. You control the dog by worrying about you as a hero. I think that the very fact that you don’t control him makes him feel real, makes him feel like something that has a mind and that has an agenda. And that agenda, first and foremost, is his love for you… his need to please you in everything that he does.”

Looking at BOTW2 and Rabbids it's easy to see it's coming in 2022, although my feeling is now it's not going to be treated as a "Pro" but basically a whole new "next-gen" console.

By Not Go To PostThis is kinda hype deflating. I don't know whyit was hugely disappointing. how did it take 4 years to get to this and they're not even ready... they must have been super happy they get to use covid as an excuse. they even abandoned the tonal shift of the first trailer which looked dope. it really just seems like more of the same and nintendo fans are gonna eat it up anyway
Wish they had shown more of the Kid Icarus world
it looks like a sequel to the legend of zelda breath of the wild

Reading the internet discourse, must be in the minority who didn't really thought Nintendo Direct was very underwhelming.
Shin Megami Tensei was cool, but we knew about it for days, Advanced Wars was a great sight to see, but the 3D blob graphics was just not a great look on it compared to the incredible pixel art the GBA had, Metroid was the meme game that was cancelled years ago, No Prime 4, Don't really care for wario ware...
Even the indie line-up was awful, wtf was that game with the women of large torso?
Even BoTw 2 showing was disappointing, just a tease of a trailer

i think most people just knew that covid hit the game industry hard and especially japanese companies so they had their expectations in check. besides that they pretty much solely focused on 2021 stuff while everyone else showed a lot of 2022 titles and even beyond.

COVID hit Nintendo pretty hard I heard and it shows
By faridmon Go To PostReading the internet discourse, must be in the minority who didn't really thought Nintendo Direct was very underwhelming.Spot on. The thing is the entire E3 season was really quite terrible. CGI trailers, 2023 release dates and lack of bangers.

So Nintendo at least was the best of the worst, so for that reason I say they did okay.
Sony not being at E3 has been felt immensely.

Yep. E3 was a wash. Here we are at the first E3 after the release of next gen consoles, and we still have no idea what's really that gamechanging about them, since most of the stuff presented is cross-gen.
Furthermore: considering how I've been working my ass off via remote work, I gotta say... maybe those slackers really do need the whip and crunch to get shit done. Yeah yeah. I know. They don't have access to all the hardware they need to be just as productive at home as they are in the office. But still, some of this stuff presented on the biggest gaming stage looked just awful.
Creative work requires far more collaboration than your typical desk job that can be done remotely from anywhere.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostIt's also easier to bounce off ideas for problem solving in person than online.way easier. one of the main reasons i don't think i can ever go full remote. just grabbing somebody who you can see isn't too busy to come look at something is always nice.
While more practical, you can still do it all that through other forms of communication. Depending on the person, there will be a psychological strain or not as some people feed off the energy from others. Some people are happier at the office than they are at home also. Some people are always alone at home.
Aside from mocap and the likes, the problem was really setting up proper and streamlined channels of communication along with safe network sharing. I can easily imagine Nintendo fucking all that up.

Really enjoyed the Nintendo Direct yesterday. They have a decent pot of games for the rest of the year, with a couple of dormant franchises getting another shot too.
Excited to give Advance Wars a proper shot - plus Metroid Dread looks fantastic. I hope they stick the landing on that one.
EDIT: Crunching to make up for Covid should never be an option. Things are tough enough as it is.

By Laboured Go To PostNever tried Advaance Wars - what's the gameplay loop?
It's a SRPG - I think that's the right term? - there's a deeper dive in the video.
I will say that the graphical style of the battles is a little ugly. Kinda going for the Link's Awakening remake vibe but missing the mark. Quite a contrast to the style/animation of the commanding officers.
It's surprising since WayForward are generally decent at sprites/character models.

Totally looks like the kind of game I'd play on a sun lounger on holiday. Fuck I want a holiday.
