This from the other day is also too fucking funny https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/197j2r1/recommendation_best_watch_15_years_from_now/
May sell my Hamilton Cooper because I literally haven't worn it in three years. And to be honest I haven't worn anything else but my G-Shock since yesteryear.
The watches community on Reddit is hilarious. Can recommend subbing to the circlejerk one too. All the comedy submissions from r/rolex will make it to that sub.

Ditto for me. I don't feel comfortable wearing big cases these days. Maybe because I wear down these days.
Has anyone set their sights and wallets on something this year? I'm looking for a statement piece. Nomos or Longines or maybe Louis Erard.
Nothing for me but I know my wife wants to enter the game. I'll have a think nearer the time but something fairly entry level for birthday or anniversary

Nomos or Longines or maybe Louis Erard.nothing fancy but i saw a video about KUOE watches, a japanese microbrand, and i think the Royal Smith 90-006 looks beautiful and i will go pick one up when i'm in Kyoto this fall as it will be half priced thanks to the low yen and a nice memento for the vacation.
https://www.kuoe-en.com/royal-smith-90-006-1
they are 35mm though so maybe a bit too small for wrist.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostEntry-level for kidjr is Tudor, I reckon. Maybe a quartz Cartier Tank.
I think he was meaning entry level rolex haha.
This is a nice looking Seiko: https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/products/prospex/spb377j1
There's a cheaper version called the Alpinist that's a bit cleaner: https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/products/prospex/spb121j1

I always really liked those Alpinist watches, beautifully done.
Hate how thicc the Alpinists are. Miyota reigns supreme as far as Japanese movements go. Miyota's 9000 series leaves the 6R35 in the dust. 3.9mm thickness vs. 5.25mm lmao. Seiko's new GMT movements need even more room due to the taller pinion.
Get the Alpinists under 12mm thick and I'd be interested. They managed with the Pressage line. Why didn't they make the Baby Alpinist slimmer :(
I am wearing an SKX013 right now which wears extremely well at 13mm thick. But that's appropriate for a Diver's watch. The Alpinist range kinda dabbles between dress watch and tool watch.
because no one uses watches for diving or mountaineering anymore

Tried it. Loved it. My next purchase. They're holding it for me.

But letting her feel her way around watches she likes.

Wouldn't get my girl a Rolex because she wouldn't appreciate it like.you or me. Bitch would go skinny dipping in Scheveningen and roll around in the fucking sand with it like a dog because she had no clue what it really is.
Get her a Cartier because its the language she understands.

Nigel just here trying to do something nice and also get her into something that he is into. Dude just trying to show affection for his wife who has been down for a minute who is the light of his life and the heart of his family. Then to to just come in denigrate her like that - an innocent party mind you - is some next shit.
To return to the topic of watches:
Hamilton. Anyone have any experience with them? Seems they have an interesting history and their price ranges are right in that sweet spot where they won't break the bank.

By KimoSan Go To PostTo return to the topic of watches:They’re good. Personally don’t care much for their designs but you can’t really go wrong with them. The Khaki Field Automatic used to be one of the best values for money in watches before price increases of recent years.

Matthew McConaughey in the film Interstellar wore a Hamilton, the Murph. Very popular model.
I'd cop a Hamilton if I didn't dislike their branding / typeface on the watch itself so much. It really detracts and looks cheap to me.

I've been wanting to get something with a gold bezel and brown strap that I can wear with brown shoes. Hopefully pull the trigger by summer. Good to know that the watches themselves are dependable.
