By Smokey Go To PostCorsair has launched a few new mice. Ironclaw Wireless and the Glaive RGB Pro. I must've missed their new wireless tech announcement at CES, but it's called Slipstream. The Harpoon was the first mouse to use it and the Ironclaw is the second. Reading up on it I found this to be interesting:
I'm curious about this new tech. I've got both wireless solutions from both companies, albeit Corsair's last gen stuff, and Logitech was clearly ahead. Glad to see my Dark Core wireless mouse was a waste of $$$, but it's wireless performance was pretty bad tbh. Had no use for it with the G900 and currently my G703.
Wonder if they'll come out with a pad similar to the Logitech PowerPlay mat. Probably my favorite accessory. Being able to never have to plug a cable into the wireless mouse to charge is pretty great.
By Adam Go To PostSmokey gonna see the light of AMD and its prophet The Dr. Lisa Su soon enough.
I'm good on my 9900k for some years breh. I rode that X79/4930k hard. I'll be in even better shape with the 9900k being able to reach 5ghz, which I haven't even clocked it to yet (4.8).
it just dawned on me that with the new rig and the hdr monitor, i can actually watch hdr on youtube through chrome now. no longer have to throw stuff on the usb and plug it into the tv. Can actually watch that 2160phdr content from the The HDR channel now, what a time.

I see.
Wait till summer.
I don't want to stan for AMD rn, but you can currently buy a Vega VII and 2700X for less than £900, and that's value I can't argue with.
By Smokey Go To PostVapespls
It ain't like I'm buying it, I'm happy with my current set up. If i was buying new and looking for a bargain though? I'd consider it. Cheapest 2080 is £600, an 9700K is £360. The AMD set up is £870 at Overclockers.
That's fucking value, breh.
Just got a 55inch 4k LG tv and when I finish decorating I plan on plugging my PC with a 970gtx in to it. Should I invest in a better HDMI lead?
Yes £200 Monster Cable.
But seriously just get an HDMI that is compatible with the ver. in your TV. Assume 2.0? Or 2.1?
Keep it cheap.

I plan on running it through some plastic trunking once I work out where my PC is going to live. Its staying in the living room so we can play VR when we have friends over but right now its in a humongous Fractal R4 case and its sticking out a bit. I might need a smaller more discrete case.

Fucking around with overclocking my GPU some more and I think I have it stable (barring more Killing Floor 2 tests). Base 1070 running at 1974/1999 (can vary sometimes) core clock and 4355 memory clock.
Killing Floor 2 causes more GPU related crashing than any other game I played, so I'm using extensive hours in that to test stability. My memory clock was stable at 4455 for hours in Unigine Heaven benchmark, but crashes after like 15 minutes of KF2. lol
e: for reference, the overclock mode that my GPU was rated for peaks at 1797 / 4054 (according to the specs on the manufacturer's website)

My 2080 Ti is stable at 2055 on gaming on air. Not bad.
By Adam Go To PostMy 2080 Ti is stable at 2055 on gaming on air. Not bad.Aye. Especially since a stock 1070 is rated at 1683/4004. Pretty dang happy. And since I used that OC Scanner tool built into Afterburner, it happens at lower voltages, too.

Yeah, msi afterburner is nice. If only nvidia hardware were cheaper. Amd needs to get their gpu act together.
By Adam Go To PostYeah, msi afterburner is nice. If only nvidia hardware were cheaper. Amd needs to get their gpu act together. Here's to hoping! At least their new GPUs coming out in the latter half of the year will be on 7nm so they should (hopefully) use relatively little power.
e: also, 7nm is dangerously close to the theoretical maximum density we can use for silicon-based circuitry, iirc. i wonder what the next step is for packing more transistors in a smaller space...

Well you’ve got options then.
On the larger side of small.
H200/H200i or Fractal Design Nano S. both are basically desktop cases, easy to build in and functional.
Medium butt small.
Cougar QBX/Kaze, Raijintek Metis/Ophion, InWin A1.
All decent cases, the latter two would be my picks for you although I’ve only built in the QBX, the InWin was almost my next move.
Actually small.
Silverstone SG13, Fractal Node 202.
Haven’t built in either, but both can be ideal sizes for hooking up next to a TV.
Pretty but avoid.
Phanteks Evolv and Evolv Shift.
Poorly designed.
Shit loads of options besides these, but they’re the mainstream picks and easy to get a hold of (also relatively cheap).
There’s plenty of premium options out there, plenty of plastic knock offs of premium cases too (that are still quite good), but the ideal case will depend on what kinda components you’re gonna shove into it.

i like that nano s
in terms of components. id say the next ryzen cpu, gpu, probably 16gb of ram, a single SSD. the hang up is the gpu. at 4k i feel that i'd want nothing else but a 2080ti. i'd probably get the same model i have now. then when the 3000 series hits, move the 2080ti to my main rig for SLI . or sell it. idk. still contemplating the whole thing anyway.

You could get a fancier 2080Ti for your main PC and move your current EVGA card to the ITX PC. Food for thought, breh.
The Nano S ain’t a bad pick though. It supports ATX PSUs but I’d really recommend going with an SFX unit to give the the GPU more space to breath.
Can also house a D15 or 240mm AIO, fair about of storage, etc. It’s just a regular ATX case in functionality just shrunk down.

I blew all my PC budget on the 2080Ti, X27 and switching from the Ryzen 1600 to Intel (plus all them cases). I gotta live vicariously through your PC related purchases now.
Is there a trade in thing where I can get a 2060 and trade in a slightly used 1070? It burns me that if I waited just 1 month and a half I could've gotten a more efficient GPU at around the same price point.
When are we getting new monitors?
How can there still be only two 4K 144hz monitors out?
Edit: oh wait there are two Acers now.

Man up and buy one of the big boy monitors on sale. Don’t you remember me saying I didn’t see the point in 4K monitor 2 years ago? See how quick I changed my tune after actually playing in 4K with a high refresh rate? That’s the power of the X27.

Yeeeaaahhhh but I just missed the boat on some decent spring discounts on those. Will keep an eye on if nothing else is on the horizon.
There's that and I'd have to purchase a 2080ti to drive it.
Is there any substantial difference between the PG27U and the X27?

Check hardware unboxed. They reviewed and compared both. Same panel, difference in fans/fan speed, and some very small differences in response times and calibration IIRC.
I went with the X27 since it was cheaper and looked nicer than the PG27U. At the time, £1750 vs £2200, though I’ve seen it drop to £1850 more recently.
