By diehard Go To PostFrom a purely statistical standpoint, comedies are doing terribly at the box office the last 3 years.
The highest grossing comedy this year was a remake, and not even a pure comedy.
Stand Up comedy blew up though.
By RrusheR Go To PostStand Up comedy blew up though. There are far more platforms for "adult content" like stand-up outside of just movie channels now, so that's not surprising.
I remember when comicview and showtime at the Apollo was the big time...
Now there's a block for anyone who graduates from the local scene

Doesn't help when the guy arguing it is known for the Hangover movies.
tons of reviewers have mentioned Jojo is too safe and not edgy at all
By Apollo Go To Posttons of reviewers have mentioned Jojo is too safe and not edgy at allDisney screened it after buying Fox and have huge apprehensions about it because it does not fit their "demo". They are only releasing it because production wrapped.
Otherwise they would've never made it.

This was so much better than it had any right to be.
It was genuinely funny at times, I laughed a lot.
Yes, it's a completely different story of the original but it works perfectly.
While attaching it to Chucky might have green lighted the project, it probably hurt it on the box office as people were so against it and that's a shame because there is a truly entertaining movie here.
The cast was pretty good, especially the kid playing Andy and Mark Hamill was an inspired choice to voice Chucky.
The only problem I had with the movie existing is Brad Dourif is still around. And he's way less of an annoying cunjt than Hammil
Brad Douriff's Chucky still continues and he will be part of the TV show that's airing next year.
As I said, attaching this to Chucky probably wasn't the best idea as it actually turned people away and it has a completely different entity from the original series.
Glad they made it anyway because it was a fun time.

By Apollo Go To PostThey're big budget GI Joe movies.
The King has spoken.
Sometimes you want entertainment though, and the bad guys actually losing to the good guys when you're absolutely sick to death of grim reality.
By Apollo Go To Postgotta love people getting mad at that opinion.
The King has spoken.
By Apollo Go To Postodd way to spell Quentin Tarantino

What Martin says is true but at the same time I think it's kind of funny because I find that a lot of characters in most of his movies do not remotely resemble any human being I have ever met.
They're just mostly incredibly cartoonish in a different way.

yeah, they're caricatures. Really good caricatures though.
edit: Scorcese's characterisations are very old school in a way. Where characters are bigger than life, exaggerated to pull your attention towards them.

I don't have a favorite director but gun to my head I'd say Denis Villeneuve. His track record is flawless so far. I do hope he returns to smaller, non scifi movies like Prisoners and Enemy after Dune.

By unemployed sy Go To Postwatch prisoners if you can, it's my favorite film by him.I'll give it a go.
Prisoners is pretty good, Jake Gyllenhaal actually had me wondering for a second if he had that tick all along or was just acting.
By unemployed sy Go To PostI don't know how I could forget about Yorgos, Lobster, Sacred Deer and The Favorite were all great.
Dogtooth better than all three.
