Speaking of headsets, I got to try the Massdrop exclusive Sennheiser HD6xx and Fostex T50RPmk3 with my audio stack at QuakeCon (thanks for bringing them, fellow audiophiles!). I was finally able to compare other headphones to my Grados SR225 in person.
Test setup: I used the first minute or so of this song from Google Play Music things were plugged into a JDS Labs OL DAC and the Emotiva Basx A-100 amp for the comparisons. Dolby Atmos for Headphones was also enabled. All software volumes were maxed and control was done with the analog knob on the amp itself.
The Fostex's were better in nearly every way than the others except for one thing: there is a frequency band in the the mid-bass range where it just turns into a muddy mess. It made me go from wanting to pick them up to striking them from all consideration.
The Sennheisers were a good all-rounder, but nothing especially stood out. It has tradeoffs with my similarly priced Grados.
The SR225 was much more articulate and had clearer separation than the other two headphones (which is the reason why I bought them years ago in the first place). It definitely has a less impactful, resonant, and deep bass which the Sennheiser and (especially) the Fostex excel at.
I don't think giving up that signature Grados clarity is worth a stronger low end for me, so that limits my options because those other two headphones are supposed to be really damn good and they just didn't cut it in that respect. Obviously, they are both still amazing cans, just not for me.

By FootbalIFan Go To Postm8sG933 is what I have, I'm quite happy with it. I would characterize the overall sound, including the mic, as good, but it's obviously a gaming headset, so don't expect too much.
Looking for Wireless headset with:
- NON-leather ear cushions
- Wireless
- Good sound
Zabo, not a fan of those new ROG Strix Fusion gaming ones
any recommendations?
Haven't really paid much attention to what's come out since then, so I couldn't really say.
So, after finding that no one else makes the sound I want like Grado does and that the price of a new set for a minimal improvement over my 225 doesn't make sense, I might mod it with these drivers for a cheap-ish upgrade: https://www.symphones.com/shop/symphones-v8
Will need to do more review reading before deciding. I would also need to do some soldering, which I suck at.

AMD makes it really hard to want to go with them over Nvidia in the GPU area. If the rumors are try, and looking like they will be, Ray tracing will be included in the top line Geforce cards. AMD is damn near 2 gens behind.
AMD playing the long game. They just have to wait for Nvidia to lose their edge, like Intel did with their manufacturing.
All they really have to do is lobby for someone to outlaw leather jackets.

Nvidia dominates in HPC and Deep Learning, and that stiff trickles down to the consumer cards. It's not going to happen anytime soon, if at all.
Ray Tracing sounds cool and all but the first good game to actually use it will be so far in the future that Turing will be outdated af.

Depends on pricing. If I was in the market for a £250 card, I’d go for a RX 580 over GTX 1060. Higher than that, it gets iffy. The Vega 56 is a better card overall than a 1070 but it also costs around £80-100 more than it and in that range there’s 1070Ti’s and 1080’s to be had.
The Vega 64 has come down to the same price roughly as 1080’s but the latter is less of a space heater for similar performance.
Beyond that, AMD don’t even have a leg to stand on. The 1080Ti, Titan Xp and Titan V all go without competition.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostThanks m8s, probably going with the g933Just a word of caution, if you've never owned a wireless headset before. It's heavy and bulky as fuck compared to your typical headphones. It took me a while to get used to. I really like my G933 now, but I wasn't exactly ecstatic when I first got them. And while I think they sound good, I'd never use them for proper music listening. In fact, I only ever use them with Dolby Surround turned on. Makes quite a difference in games.

They were fine at the start but the leather ear cushions have become a bit of a nuisance, otherwise they've been fine
I have actual headphones for music, ill only be using these for gaming(rocket league and fortnite)

Stop they're already dead.

This information isn’t coming from a direct insider source, so these latest rumors are starting on a pretty shaky foundation. Such a low price would be shocking, especially compared to the astronomical prices of Nvidia's other Turing-based Quadro RTX graphics cards. That said, we’re holding out a little hope that the rumor is true for the sake of our collective wallets.
The same source also claims the Nvidia RTX 2080 will feature 3,072 CUDA cores running at 1,920MHz with the potential of overclocking up to 2,500MHz.
This new GPU will supposedly be faster than the Nvidia Titan V and, at least on paper, it seems to have the specs to beat the flagship Volta graphics card's rated 1,455MHz boost clock – though not the Titan V’s 5,120 CUDA core count. The Nvidia GTX 1080, meanwhile, features 2,560 CUDA cores and a boost clock of 1,733MHz.
By Laboured Go To PostStop they're already dead.uhh, $649 wouldn't be shocking at all. The 1080 launched at $549.

2500 mhz core would be surprising though
Oh wait, the 1080 launched at more than that.. with the Founders Edition tax.
I.. can't remember what it was though.
I'm actually not 100% convinced it will have tensor cores. It should, as all the Quadro RTX series do though..

Yeah, the RTX 8000 should have around a 1730MHz boost clock, there's no way they are getting to 2500.

You can bet the ti will be Titan priced. In fact I bet they'll just relabel what they call the Titan as a ti.
And I will buy it all the same.
Can AMD be called a competitor in the PC space at this point?

You read that right, if these numbers are to be believed, we’re looking at GTX 1080 performance in the mid-range with Turing. And not any GTX 1080 at that, but an overclocked GTX 1080.

It's super tempting, but I think I'm gonna hold out for one more year before upgrading from my 1070.
So they are launching their 102 parts right off the bat? Ok i can kinda see that happening with how long Turing has been coming.. but releasing their premier tier card that would be 30-40% faster (if the application isn't memory bound) than the 2nd tier card for .. 33% more money makes zero sense. Either something is off with these leaked specs or the estimated prices.
