By markao Go To PostIt takes a dickhead to recognize a dickhead.
it takes two to tango, but kind of agree with him, Max did not have to push him so wide.
Oh memory lane, year had one of my favourite Williams liveries, specially the one with the Sega logo replaced with the little "cartoon" feet
Given that it was McLaren I'm going to guess that Dennis has it locked up in a super special vault away from all the other trophies and polishes it daily.
Back to back race-weekends and we are in China for the 3rd race of the season : The FORMULA 1 2018 HEINEKEN CHINESE GRAND PRIX in Shanghai.
Track for me is a bit of interesting bits of other tracks (1st corner Malaysia, etc) with a dull middle sector, mandatory long straight and at least a challenging final corner. Mercedes dominated this track in the hybrid area and expect them to continue that streak.
It is just the 3rd race, but already feels like a few driver/teams have to step up at least do not make any errors any more. Lewis for example dominant car in Melbourne, gearbox rear tire problem last race and already well behind Sebastian in the Championship, cannot effort bad weekend.
RBR, not fastest over a single lap but race pace looked very good. Yet due to driver, engine and team issues behind even McLaren and they really need a trouble free and a faultless driver performance this weekend for both cars/drivers.
With Haas doing so well this season, you would expect Grosjean to do well, yet it is his teammate being the one on top so far. So another driver that this weekend, were I expect the Haas to be very good, needs to step up to take the momentum away from Kevin.
And I'm also very curious if the result of Pierre last race was a one off, or that Toro Rosso can challenge week in week out with the top of the midfield cars. Car was on the top of the speedtraps in FP1-2. if they can find a better balance in the twisty parts they might just do that.

FP2 highlights:
Lewis made error in fastest lap and was also fractional quicker than Max in long run, although tire wear control looked even better on RBR. Ferrari was quick, but drop of after 2-3 laps on longruns was really bad, they need to get that under control for the race if they want to challenge Mercedes/RBR.
just catching up on fp3 and looks like Ferrari engine has the power to propel better to pole, Merc did not look good at all(cold?), let alone the for the rbr boys.
midfield close again but Ferrari powered Haas as best of the rest does not look like a bad call.
Massive job by the RBR mechanics to get DannyRic out (engine change) and he almost messed it up by error in chicane but through to Q2 ;)
Usual suspects and one Toror Rosso out (Gasly error in 2nd sector), Leclerc faster than Ericsson for the 1st time.
and Ferrari and Mercedes out on the softs (yellow) in Q2
Magnusson surprisingly out and again no McLaren in to q3
and Mercedes closer as they have been all weekend to Ferrari, even though they aborted their final runs.

fuck Kimi final sector of your final lap :(, but we'll done by Sebastian
Lewis slower than Valteri and dannyric slower (1st time on this track )than max
hulk best of the rest, again faster than carlos, grosjean poor lap
Tomorrow RBRs on Ultras at the start maybe that will add some excitement. (Lewis 4, Max 5 ;) )

By markao Go To PostTomorrow RBRs on Ultras at the start maybe that will add some excitement. (Lewis 4, Max 5 ;) )I believe Crofty said they are expecting a big drop-off on those tyres, 7 or so laps, which seems improbable to me. However, it makes me interested to see if the hypersoft could replicate the low fuel qualifying strategies of the smaller teams in the 00s, assuming there is a significant difference between it and the ultra/super.

However, it makes me interested to see if the hypersoft could replicate the low fuel qualifying strategies of the smaller teams in the 00s, assuming there is a significant difference between it and the ultra/super.Max did 12 laps on them on Friday fp2 and his last lap was one of his fastest (few tenths of), other teams did have bigger drop of (Ferrari ).
Having said that, do expect 2 stops for RBR and the other teams on US and probably one for those that start on softs. Will definitely be hotter tomorrow so lets wait and see how it plays out, but agree some bigger differences between tires and strategies would be welcome/awesome.
Brings me to one of my anoyenses, that you should not be able to pick best race (one stop) tire in q2 and pick best qualifying tire in q3 :( Than you would have a more mixed grid with different stop/tire strategies cars coming through the field.
By Spengo Go To PostHow's the weather tomorrow?dry sunny as far that's possible (smog) and 20 degrees. Not that hot, but a lot warmer than it has been this weekend.
RBR pitstop lads, problems not us :P
so well timed to do both, did not Help to get Lewis for DannyRic maybe Kimi?
VALTERI, great job by Merc but that was so obvious Ferarri sleeping ????
By Spengo Go To PostFerrari just fucked themselves.Yep. Bottas-Vettel-Hamilton if nothing else strange happens.
By Spengo Go To PostAnd If Raikkonen pits now, he will be behind Ric.I think Kimi should slow down Bottas. For vettel to catch up.
Toro Rosso keeping up with collisions between teammates :P
Kimi is one second faster should get to the back of DannyRic easily but what then?

One week later and Lewis forgot about clean racing, he definitely moved to the outside and closed the gap :(
Lewis/Max
useless Kimi :(
Lewis/Max
useless Kimi :(
DannyRic showing Max how it is done, could not be more clear, hope Max one day will learn, so stupid :(
By Spengo Go To PostVerstappen could be P1 right now if he was more mature and measured.precisely, pass on Lewiswould have been amazing, but you know he will run just a bit wider. Yes sebas runs a bit of the apex, but he will always cut back like that. He should look ar what his teammate did and learn, not only clean, but others will after today respect him on traco, Vettel will close the door on Max next time they meet and rightly so.
good for the championship though ;)
that was naughty Fernando, Maxnot only one who needs a lesson
