Pulp Fiction is the most fun
Jackie Brown is the most heartfelt
Any of the 3 is an acceptable answer for his best film.
The characters in both films are not all that memorable. However, R1 captures the sense of adventure and battle against the odds that makes up SW for me.
It also gave us the most badass Vader we have seen on screen.

Just watched Titanic in its entirety for the first time
Not sure if its an unpopular opinion or if I've just notcied people shitting on it more than they actually do, but its a brilliant film.

It's Cameron, so it's gonna be technically flawless. And the story of the Titanic is genuinely iconic.
The movie just took on a life of its own in broader popular culture and it's nearly impossible to separate the film itself from the parodies and cynical references to its hammiest parts.

I quite liked most of the ham tbh :P
Some of the CGI scenes look like a lot less work went into them than others, was pretty jarring. Maybe its just harder to generate sweeping daylight shots, where flaws in lighting and shadow are much more apparent.
Billy Zane's character is probably a bit too much of a twat to be a genuinely believable antagonist, and he's played by, well, Billy Zane which is never a good thing. Legit no idea how he ever got paid to act.

By blackace Go To PostBirdman was trashMy brother in arms. I hate that movie.
I think Inarritu is an incredibly shallow filmmaker and Birdman is the pinnacle of it. It lacks basic structure like character development in favor of being art. It's so much more focused on doing the stupid thing where it wants to be all one tracking shot that it doesn't have time for plot. But don't you see, it's art, look it's all one shot here. Michael Keaton's character is the most unlikable. At no point do I root for him. The film's core message is essentially ugly: washed up actor grasping at attempt to stay in limelight does awful things and never feels bad about it or learns anything.
I honestly don't know if Birdman is great or garbage. I'm pretty sure I really liked the last act or so.
What I do know is that I doubt that I will ever have the desire to watch it ever again. That seems to be a recurring feeling with Innaritu's movies.
The spectacle and visuals of The Revenant blew me away but there really isn't much to it beyond that. Pretty light on actual plot and characters. Just Leo showing that "Hey, I can act!" and beautiful, beautiful shots and great direction in the action scenes. I definitely enjoyed viewing it but I'll never watch it again.

Another one, Edward Norton has never, ever been likable in a movie. Ever. Not in Fightclub, not in Grand Budapest.
Warcraft was a very, very fun movie. Like a live action Blizzard short, but it went on for another hour.

Kingdom of Heaven tho.
The Revenant was shit. Thought it was fucking great and important. Fuck it. Lack of visual storytelling beyond "it is cold". Di Caprio just grunts and grimaces for two hours.
DiCaprio winning for the Revenant is crazy. It's lifetime achievement. He's way, way better in things like Catch Me if You Can, Inception, Wolf of Wall Street.

Oscars have so many misses year in and year out. Shakespeare In Love, Million Dollar Baby over Aviator, their love for Inaritu, etc.
Alfonso Cuaron is the much better director. Children of Men? Phew. Although Gravity should not have won Best Picture.
What is the distinction between Supporting Actor and Actor in the Oscars? I'd hardly have called Casey Affleck's Robert Ford a supporting role in Assassination of Jesse James
I think the studios/producers are the ones that submit to each category, so they choose what it means.
I remembered this because it's been on cable:
The best performance and movie of Joseph Gordon Levitt's career is The Lookout. Going away. It's not close.

By p s y Go To PostJGL isn't that good of an actorHe has the ability to be pretty good (Brick, 500 Days of Summer, 50/50), but he seems more interested in doing weird accents.
The Lookout is next level, absolute peak, though.
