By LFMartins86 Go To PostI think it was in terms of physical sales, it was rumored to have a higher than average percentage of digital sales.Interesting. It makes sense, with all the Flash Sales and other kind of deals, I think people are getting used to go digital.
By kaputt Go To PostSo it seems Destiny 2 is the best selling game this year… but wasn't it lacking when compared to the first one?PUBG has easily outsold it. I wonder why Bungie hasn't ever talked about sales numbers for D2 if they're so good. All I know is the number of people still logging into it a month after release was down by about 60+ percent. I guess that explains the look on their faces and the tone in their voices as they explained all the "cool" cosmetic items coming to the game in season 2 (purchasable via Tess Everiss).
This a weird year. It's one of the best years in gaming in the last decade I think, but software sales seems somewhat disappointing.

Oh yes, forgot about PUBG, definitely the biggest hit of this year, no other game even comes close.
I'm really happy seeing metroid on the list. While not the best in the series, it was a neat addition and a good way to return.
By Galgavias Go To PostThat's surprisingly high for Marvel vs Capcom Infinite isn't it? All signs were pointing to bomb central.I guess that's what the detractors wanted to look like. The experience online I'm having on PS4 is basically the same I've had with SFV. I get to play with people here in Brazil even at odd hours and the netcode is just the best I've ever had with a fighting game. I live in Brazil and NRS games rule here too, so I do think that MVCI is charting better than even I was expecting but at same time, the signs for that being the case were there all along.
Good result for Mario + Rabbids. Metroid seems OK, given how it released on a system that's in its twilight years and is now in a much more niche genre than it used to be.
Never thought I would be able to live in a world where a Mario Rabbids cross over strategy game made more revenue than a marvel vs Capcom fighting game. And that's not even counting the fact that Mario + Rabbids isn't even having it's digital revenues counted and it is still beating MvCI.
By Inflatablemidget Go To PostYeah, if you're a GAF refugee, Waypoint is definitely not the place you want to be. Hell, they won't even let you use the word "refugee" there because "It's offensive to people that are actually refugees." lol I wish I was making that up.
I literally got banned within an hour of signing up...amd only got banned once at GAF and I deserved it for being a dick personally attacking someone.
That's great for Rabbids! MvC did better than I expected, but still not enough for Capcom, evidently. Pokken wasn't a total bomb, and for a remaster...its good. Wish ol boy would come here so we could have a traditional NPD. But I respect the hustle, here.
Overall, nice rankings I'd say.

Nba was above destiny without digital, destiny 2 over 1.3 mil with digital, I need leaks :(
Edit: oh and mvc is a surprise, it seems like it did better than what people expected, still won’t reach the 2 mil figure capcom wanted though.

Maybe that's down to the size of the fighting game community in the US which isn't in other territories. I haven't played it myself yet, waiting for the inevitable Ultra MvC:I personally.
Love seeing Mario + Rabbids still in the top 5. That game deserves it! Now to go follow Rabbid Peach on IG...
By livefromkyoto Go To PostHoly shit…Nintendo had TWO THIRDS of hardware sales?Switch, snes, 3ds.
By Grimsat Go To PostSwitch, snes, 3ds.still a big fu*kin deal tho. they can do game boy classic next year then a game boy advance classic the year after followed by a n64 classic... etc. just making tons of dough off this shit lol

The Destiny haters were unrepentant when we said the digital sales would make up for physical.
Now the crows are extinct.

By Angelus Errare Go To PostGTAV will never die.Makes me wonder what's Rockstars plan for GTAVI? I'm assuming that it's going to be a crossgen title like V is.
