“We give these people hope here, because when you think of Oklahoma City before us, it was the Oklahoma City bombing, natural disaster,” Durant said. “If we ever win a championship, I feel we’ll be heroes. I feel like we’d resurrected a city that was down and that felt like nobody cared about them. It’s beautiful because they don’t take us for granted…I got confidence because our fans are going to back us and I’m never going to take that for granted.”
... Dem feels.
By RBK Go To Post Playing you guys into a max extension.
Well thankfully we'll have a good opportunity to assess his health before he comes up for that extension.
If he was becoming a free agent after this season we'd be in a really difficult position.
Fuck up an MVP's health by rushing him back from an injury, then deny him a supermax because he's now injured, still expect loyalty from the MVP.
Oklahoma CIty is the new Cleveland before Lebron left.

I hope this is just a classless April Fools Joke from the Magic.

What the hell are you talking about?
My statement that the team will get a chance to assess KD's health isn't the same as saying Presti will deny him a supermax extension. If he's healthy, it's full steam ahead. If he continues to have lingering issues, the FO will have to assess the risks and act accordingly.
Did you happen to notice how not bitter KD sounded in his interview? Gee, it's almost like he doesn't attach blame to anyone for his injury issues. I also find the continuing assumption that KD and his team of managers and doctors played no role in his injury management to be amusing.
P.S. Cleveland never had a player half as good as Russ before LeBron left.
"I got a goal, and it's a huge goal, and that's to bring an NBA championship here. And I won't stop until I get it," said Durant
Wow, KD is all in with OKC
This is a Lebron quote from 2009.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To Post what is the hypothetical supermax post 2016 salary cap bump? 30 million? 35 million?
If the cap is $90 million, KD would get about $25 million in the first year of his extension.
Games of note tonight:
DAL@OKC and NOP@LAL: NOP win and OKC loss moves NOP within 0.5 of the 8th seed.
SAS@ORL and LAC@POR: SAS win and LAC loss moves SAS into 5th and Portland in position for HCA. If OKC loses and POR wins, POR clinches the NW division.
A HOU loss to SAC and a POR win moves POR to 0.5 of the 3rd seed.

Thats not that bad. I could see him still getting that if he plays through most of next season at a high level. The only reason I could see them asking him to take less (besides a major injury next year) would be because they would have to pay Westbrook the next year.

Presti's no dummy. If KD's health issues don't crop up again he'll have max extensions ready for KD and Russ at midnight the moment they become FAs. Asking either to take less money is idiotic at this point in their careers.
The interesting case will be Ibaka. He's probably slightly underpaid right now, but he'll be angling for a max next time around.
By reilo Go To Post Ibaka can't be underpaid when he's paid the same as Aldridge.
Maybe LMA is underpaid too? :P
the ESPN top 20 athletes of the last 20 years is a good laugh:

By reilo Go To Post How are you gonna put golfers, white quarterbacks and baseball players on that list? Does someone need to give ESPN a definition of 'athlete'?
I think it's clear they just meant "people who play sports at a professional level"
that's what most people think of, when they think of athlete. I.e. Professional athlete.
that's why it's a stupid list btw. You can't put Lebron as number 2 unless you're specifically talking about athletic ability. Duncan, Federer, Brady, Woods, Kobe, Serena, Messi should all be ahead of him, as far as dominance and accomplishments go.
Pure athletic ability? Then I agree with you, that list is bogus. It's an ESPN list suffering from an identity crisis.
By reilo Go To Post How are you gonna put golfers, white quarterbacks and baseball players on that list? Does someone need to give ESPN a definition of 'athlete'?
My biggest gripe is putting Armstrong on it.
Dude was one of the most cynical and comprehensive cheaters in sports history, and he wouldn't even own up to it until the evidence was overwhelming.
And I'm actually in favor of legalized and doctor-monitored PED use in professional sports.
Steve Young was a real ath-uh-lete.
Don't think SAS wants the 5 tbh. They'll want to avoid GS until the WCF.

did SAS ever give a fuck where they end up?
but yeah, i would stay at 6 too, at best you get the Rockets and at worst the very beatable Clippers/Grizzlies.
or they just move to 3 themselves.

He had a pretty unique cut. He looks weirder now though lol
By Adam Blade Go To Post I think I'll just migrate now to the off-season thread since the Clips are gonna lose badly in the first round anyways. Faux "contenders."
hey, Rockets first round is still possible!

lol no it's not, I can imagine it quite easily.

Gondo already fooled by those PR words lmao. Presti probably denied his trade request so he's playing the "fake loyal" game until he jets next summer
forever, how are you even alive bro
to have an owner come in, basically sacrifice every future asset for a team with a 1 year window and then he tries to sell his share the second that shit aint work
like, fuck

Give Hinkie their pick.
Pretty much every year somebody jumps up from 7/8 to the top 3.
So yea, somebody is getting bodied in that 2-4 range most likely.

honestly
I don't know why people pay those prices for regular season games
like, what in the absolute fuck, it's nowhere near worth 200 bucks to catch a regular season game unless you're lucky enough to see a really really high level OT game

?
he announced his retirement.
he's still getting his $9.7m due to him this season.
what's the problem, hater?
