By masud Go To PostMan these people going 100% stamina are fucking crazy. Either they're spending half their time searching for cooking mats or they're like that kid in the Wizard with the wonder glove.Wait there's not enough shrines to max both hearts and stamina?
I'd definitely get stamina first but after like two upgrades you'll have enough to get to pretty much wherever you want to go.

Maximum Iron Mushrooms and Defense Elixir and knowing the dodge timing and having like 5 Claymores for Rush is how you beat Lynel.
Shit sucks and will burn your fairies if you not careful.
Like why even use armor when shit kills you in one or two hits. Shirtless run all the way.

Just got off of the Plateau and am on my way to Kakariko village. Having a ton of fun. Lost like an hour just exploring and scavenging for cooking mats. Playing this like Metal Gear Solid 3, tbh. Head-shots with arrows and proper bomb placement has Link getting his Big Boss on.
Activated the tower that's on the way to the village. Lowkey shook of running into any Guardians atm. Sitting on some broadswords and soldier bows, but my aiming is not that great on the WiiU controller...yet.
edit: The one thing that I'm confused about, is why the second screen doesn't just act as the map. It's a waste of the second screen when I'm not playing on it.

By masud Go To PostI think its the y button when you're on the map screen.
Hey, that worked, thanks. I'm playing this game together with my brother and it was driving us both nuts. I think I had just assumed that was the same option menu as pressing Y on the image menu.

Because they didn't want the Switch version to be the second best version of the game. You can tell there are so many places they had intended to use the Wii U but gimped it when it was made cross-platform. I really wish they could have gotten this game out 2 years ago.
I just cleared Vah Rutah and beat Waterblight Ganon.
That. Was. Awesome.
That whole sequence. Everything leading up to the dungeon, the creativity of the dungeon itself, and the satisfaction of wrecking the boss with my overpowered weapons. Honestly I think the length was just right after all we went through to get there in the first place. The story is pretty damn dark when you stop to think about it, and the melancholic atmosphere is really well done and permeates everything.

I just learned that you can buy a house and store weapons in it

I am up to the first village and so far the game is pretty good but I feel like I am spending too much time in the inventory. I find I am always holding too many bows and too many shields. Also I can't be bothered to cook stuff but it seems like its a fairly important part of the game not only for health and boosts but determining what items are worth keeping and what should be sold.
By Forever Go To PostI just learned that you can buy a house and store weapons in itYup that's what I posted in the spoiler earlier. You can only stash/mount 3 weapons, 3 bows and 3 shields but it still helps (the game also hints and that you can have more than one house) Best ways to make money are mining for gems and selling fancy meals btw.

The menu stuff isn't that bad once you get used to it, i usually have one of my weaker bows or shields equipped so I just ignore everything with red arrows.
First 2 or 3 hours I wasn't loving it and was a little overwhelmed.
Have climbed a few towers and opened up some of the map and am enjoying it a lot more. Really clicked for me last night. Getting a horse helps.
Still really don't like the menus or how quickly weapons deteriorate.

Do world bosses respawn? Like if I want to go farm the Stone Talus I've already beaten for gems, can I do that?

game went from this is pretty dang good to gdlk.
Its hitting all of things I loved about Dragons Dogma, Xenoblade Chronicals X and to some extent FFXV but with less jank. I "get" all of the complaints but none of them ruin it for me at all.
Gonna shelve Nier for a week or two, so it doesn't taint that game.
But lawd this year in gaming is going to be great
OMFG the prices for gear. I'm a broke boi right now. :(
Is this what I'm supposed to be doing for currency? Making food and selling it? lol @ Link being one with the pyrex.

I got a blood moon immediately after beating stone talus and he respawned for the sequel to his original ass whooping.

Sell gems too. Gems was how I made my first 1k.
By Moris Go To PostHow'd you raise the funds?I knew of three Stone Talus in the world that I had already beaten so I went back to kill them again and sell their gems. That's pretty much it lol.
Just beat the Major Test of Strength on Tenoko Island. The axe it drops is +60 damn. That's definitely going on my wall.
Now I've got a dilemma. I kinda really want to go to the Gerudo next, but it sounds like there's some important stuff in Akkala.
I'm also neglecting a number of sidequests and have only unlocked two memories lol.
So instead I'm sailing around the Necluda Sea checking out these islands. Paralysis of choice.
edit: Oh man, the challenge on Eventide Island. Amazing. Some Lord of the Flies shit. I don't know if I'm ready for this.

What's the strat for the stone talus? I made one of them fall once so I could climb it but I never figured out how to do it again.

Keep your distance he'll throw his arms at you, I found running the direction of the arm he's about to throw keeps you out of danger 100% of the time.
If he's gonna throw his right, straffe him going right.
Once both his arms are gone, make a dash right at him, he'll smash his torso into the ground, you can jump on his back and just hammer away at the stone on his back. Repeat til dead.
Nah you're making it more complicated than it needs to be. Throw a bomb at him and blow up his arm or the weak point on the back. If you hit either one he'll go down and you can climb him and wreck him.
Agh why did I let myself get sucked into playing this for 7 hours straight on a weeknight...it's almost 5am, I'm going to be a wreck tomorrow.
Got to Zora's Domain...wow, the frame rate gets rough there, I could count the frames. I really hope they patch the performance in settlement areas, it's a very un-Nintendolike level of polish.

Them throwing in the furniture at the end was a nice touch. I wish there were more upgrades though, like a better bed or a working stable. Maybe they have that stuff in the town you help build.
Stone Talos is the wave for getting gems all he dropping is ruby and topaz after every fight. Also check low level water sources for sunken treasure chest using the magnet rune.
Wow the rewards for the maze shrine quest are sick.
+attack skull shaped helm
+guardian resist helm that looks like Caesars crown
warp points right next to a spawn point for the great flame sword, you can warp in grab one and warp out in like 30 seconds

Oh boy, do I need to learn how to parry/dodge properly. I thought shit was gonna be sweet since I've been getting some dope gear from the shrines. NOPE. Ran into that Minotaur Ganon looking dude and got bodied...FREE. :( Should have known what was what, when I saw that he had the visual range of guards in Metal Gear Solid 2 on European Extreme. I guess the only advice is to get good, eh?
Played BotW (WiiU). It's Zelda, so OFC it's good with its tried-and-true formula: three mini-quests and the rest of the world opens up. I've experienced some frame drops, but nothing crippling. Adjusting my eyes from Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn in the past few weeks is going to take some effort, though I like the engine as what appears to be a happy medium between the realistic art style I like in LoZ: TP and LoZ: WW. Tomorrow I set off to Kakariko Village.

Took 20 hours to get to the first dungeon. Man, this game is a journey.

Holy shit. I had no idea that metal weapons could turn you into a lightning rod. I got wrecked the minute that I stepped foot into the forest past Faron Woods. The enemies there are no joke. Got lit the fuck up by a wizzrobe when I stepped in water, trying to escape. lmao. Between the horrible weather and the camouflaged enemies, I was running around confused af. This entire section is crazy.
Managed to get to the shrine that the bird was talking about, thanks to stealth. On my first attempt, they blotted out the sun with shock arrows. lol.
I'm currently by the horse stable across from the waterfall.
Also, the fire rod is the shit. Made short work of the chameleons.

Really? Is that what causes it? I never put 1 + 1 together there. I was just running for my life trying to get under cover.
Lightning defence food/elixirs are your best friend there. I have no idea how anybody who's not cooking is getting through this game, it makes such a big difference. Especially the attack buffs.
Does the game save the recipes that you've used?
I can live with having to experiment with the cooking mechanic, as long as it tracks the recipes that I've created.

No but they're easy to remember, the items say what resistance they'll create in their description.

Lol for real? Open your menu when in lightning areas and all the items that attract lightning with have electric static around them

you can look at the recipe of any food in your inventory. And the recipes are very simple to remember or use intuition to get the desired effect.

Yep, for real. I've only really encountered it for any extended period of time on the way to the Zora kingdom, and I guess I was distracted by other things.

No, but it's pretty easy to get the hang of. There are two categories, food and elixirs. The item description should tell you which belongs in which category, what effect it will have, and how many hearts it will regenerate.
Basically - bugs/frogs + monster parts = elixir
Everything else = food
Stack a bunch of items with the same effect for a stronger result. I've made stuff that regenerates my health to full + gives me 10 extra hearts above my max. Combine that with something that triples your attack power, then one that increases your defence, and you can tank even tough bosses.
The frame rate on WiiU in some areas is just atrocious. Makes combat really difficult and not fun.
Overall I gotta say combat is probably my least favorite part. Between weapons breaking, being forced to use uninteresting weapons and the simple mechanics, I find myself avoiding combat quite often.
Exploration is definitely the attraction for me.

Only with the combat having technical issues, rather than being mechanically shite

Never played TW3 but videos of the combat look janky.
I think mechanically Zelda is a little simple and that would be fine if I could use the weapons I like. Constantly having to use crappy clubs and spears just exacerbate the issue.

I think that gets better over time, weapons you encounter get better and then after Goron and gerudo dungeons there's Daruk's and Revali's weapons.
