By Kabro Go To Postcan you imagine a beloved laker being banned from staples?Yes.
its not a complete knick season without the mandatory embararssing moments.
By reilo Go To PostOak wasn't banned prior to the incident, this ban is effective now. He was just a ticket paying fan that night.
Are you sure? I read a bunch of people on RealGM saying he had been.

You guys like Metta World Artest a lot, so yeah.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostAre you sure? I read a bunch of people on RealGM saying he had been.Yes. The press release even says "ever again". He wasn't banned prior, we would know if he was.
By reilo Go To Postliterally above.
i mean if oak really did lose his mind dolan/knicks have every right to bar him from the arena
the second knicks build something decent the free agents will come, but the days of people going to LA or New York just because of the cities have been done

Knicks owner James Dolan says Charles Oakley will be banned temporarily for MSG. "Hopefully it won't be forever," he says on ESPN Radio.
Do it, Mitch.

Lmao
I mean, they have been since the Isaiah era. Amare was the only star player they've been able to sign in the last decade plus. People just get confused because lots of free agents use them for leverage, but nobody ever actually goes there. Just the low-to-mid tier guys who need a cheque, and washed up has-beens looking for one last round of applause.

damn did he fuck Dolan's wife or something?
Feel kinda bad for Knicks fans... i mean the Suns have been a hot ass mess too but damn jackson/dolan have no sense of what their fanbase wants.
By pkaz01 Go To PostFeel kinda bad for Knicks fans… i mean the Suns have been a hot ass mess too but damn jackson/dolan have no sense of what their fanbase wants.Cause neither Phil or Dolan give a shit. Phil just picking up a check and Dolan trying to make it on the cover of Rolling Stone.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostUm when the Knicks signed Amar'e that was the first time they had the capspace to sign a big time free agent in like 20 years... I don't think the Knicks are toxic to free agents (they may be now after this Oakley mess) they usually do pretty good on the free agent Market when compared to other bad teams.

You're all trolling. We gave the most golden of golden parachutes to Kobe and bring back former Lakers all the time in some capacity or another to appease fans. The one outspoken ex player who slammed our owner Jim Buss publicly was just brought on as his new advisory and will be calling shots.

Which gives them no cap space.
Dolan on Oakley: "He has a problem, people need to sort of understand that. He has a problem with anger, he's both physically and verbally abusive." Suggests he might have an alcohol problem.
James Dolan says nothing would make him happier than having Oakley honored at center court at MSG. Says Oakley needs to address his behaviors to make that happen.
Dolan on fans hating him: "You'd be hard-pressed to find a living owner (of a New York sports team) that's loved." Says he's heard from fans who appreciate that he spends money to attract talent.
Dolan on Phil Jackson: "whether I like the results or don't like the results, I am going to honor that agreement all the way to the end… he has my support." Jackson is under contract for two more season but their is an option in his contract after this season.
James Dolan says he won't step in to meddle in basketball decisions. Says he's going to honor Phil's agreement and "let's hope that he's successful." He says he's not going to exercise any opt outs but says "I don't know if Phil is"
James Dolan says he won't get involved if Phil Jackson wants to trade Carmelo Anthony. Great questions by Michael Kay.
James Dolan said he didn't force Phil Jackson to re-sign Carmelo Anthony and that he didn't tell Jackson he couldn't hire Kurt Rambis as head coach.
James Dolan says he hasn't gotten any indication that Phil Jackson will opt out of his contract after this season.
Dolan says Oakley was verbally abusive to security people on Wednesday night.
James Dolan to fans who blame him for the Knicks' losing: "Ask Phil."
I'm not the biggest .. supporter of Phils time in NY. But he's probably been their best GM in a while. And ... he has kept their draft picks.
It's the best spot the Knicks have been in, in a long time.

And … he has kept their draft picks.Yeah but that alone doesn't outweigh his other moves. Phil has done a shit job. Just pulled some band aid moves by getting some notable washed up players and tried to pass it off as "hey look I'm actually doing some GM things guys"! The lone bright spot on his run was getting Porzingis, and it's probably time to clean house and build around him. I would say Phil should call it a career and go back to Jeanie cause he definitely isn't the guy for the job, but he managed to fuck that up too

People hate you because you're a shitty troll of a man who ran this franchise into the ground.
By giririsss Go To PostI'm not the biggest .. supporter of Phils time in NY. But he's probably been their best GM in a while. And … he has kept their draft picks.Naw Walsh was much better. We were on LeBrons short list meaning were were probably a 'decision' away from a title which is the closest we've been since Hakeem blocked Starks shot in game 6. Even though we didn't get LeBron Walsh still had us set up pretty decently untill Melo was forced on him. Phil has been trash, I'm not giving him any credit for not trading draft picks (I guess trading a guy you drafted after one season doesn't count?) that's what you're supposed to do.

Not really. But ok.
I agree Donnie was good. But he didn't have the FO control to stabilise every facet. Whether thats on him or not ... it's just true.
Again, i think Phil has been bad with his FA decisions. Some of them defendable (rose) some entirely not (noah). When taken as a whole, he has been bad.
But the Knicks aren't 5 years away from a possible rebuild anymore. Which is really a much better spot than they've been in for a long time. They COULD start a rebuild next year.
Noah and Melo are the only truly bad contracts. With Noah being the only truly baffling one of the lot. (The move to dump rolo to get noah was also dumb. )
The worst part might have been his insistence of meddling with another coaches team (trying to force triangle shit onto horny).
So i'm certainly not remembering it in a tainted light.

Also this Magic thing in LA is interesting..
"Working to call the shots, because it only works that way," Johnson told USA Today Sports when asked what he hopes his role will be. "Right now I'm advising. I get that. But at the end of the day, then we all got to come together and somebody's got to say, 'I'm making the final call,' all right? And who's that going to be? So, we'll see what happens."

Now that Dolan has extinguished any hope we had of acquiring even D-list free agents, does Kristaps take a qualifying offer and get out of here as soon as he can?
