Respectable laps by Red Bull there, only a couple of tenths behind Ferrari. FP1 and FP2 gap between Bottas and Hamilton both under a tenth of a second which is nice to see. The cars all looked like they handled like shit on medium.
Lower allowed rear tire pressure change, seems to help Ferrari (rear) out. Add the Merc quali-mode and it going to be close again, would love to see Kimi on pole ;)
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostyessssssssssssssssssssssssssThey just need to get through quali, even if not in optimum engine mode, tonight time enough to replace ;)
Even at Barca, track were they all do so many laps, huge difference between good and not good enough (yet)
(wehrlein last one in to Q2)
By Kidjr Go To Postwhats wrong with vettal's car according to the engineers
had to change engines. On his first flying lap the care slowed right down, seemed they changed the settings and he was ok.

Ahh
holy crap ferrari is fast
Merc power, Bottas slide and great 1st laps by Kimi/ Max!!
Ferrari needs a better final sector if they want pole

So close this year, great lap by Lewis, glad that Sebastian did not listen to his engineer in Q1 ;)
And brilliant laps by Max and Fernando!!!

That McLaren has no right to be that far up, incredible driving. I just hope Alonso's McHonda doesn't shit the bed at tomorrow's start.

Will it be 2 stop or a 1 stop?
Verstappen might make a call for an aggressive approach following either Lewis or Vettel (more likely) in, if he's able to jump RAI (and perhaps even BOT) in the opening laps. Similar to Bahrain I think/hope.

i would say two stops, because the harder tire is just to slow. So you loose to much time on track and then you are better of with an extra stop and new soft tires. (all teams have one new set of softs available.). So I cannot see a repeat of last years tactics, but who knows ;)
Alonso might also be (extremely) aggressive in first lap (start), hope that does not end in tears.

Bottas error, not much Kimi or Max could do.

Shame that in a race were both Lewis and Sebas make great moves on track, I cannot get passed the feeling a VSC period decided the race.
Brilliant result for Force India, when 3 top cars do not finish, you pick up 4/5th, massive constructors points and not bad by Wehrlein (except sill pit entry penalty).

Hamilton gained 6 seconds due to the pit stop as the VSC was ending. HAM was 8 seconds behind Vettel before the VSC, after Vettel's stop the next lap they were neck-to-neck. Very unlucky race for Vettel.
Its that time of the year for the most eventful non event on the calendar, the Monaco GP
As always an event for the rich, famous & beautiful.
And boats, small boats, big boats, bigger boats and my boat is the biggest.....everywhere
And also some racing in between all the social events, FP starts on Thursday and with this years cars qualifying is going to be awesome. Cannot wait to see them push these cars to the max, with the swimmingpool chicane definitely one of my favourite corners in F1.
No Alonso, but Button in the Honda McLaren as Fernando is doing the INDy500.
vs
And it will be Merc vs Ferrari round 5 and early indications suggest you might want to put your money on Lewis ;) But in seriousness, I never felt it was a track Sebastian was 100% comfortable on, even Webber had the upper hand on him. But then again, Ferrari have the car to put it on pole, Kimi time? Lets hope someone crashing and a lucky timed pitsstop isn't going to decide the winner this race, although its hard not to see a few crashing this weekend :P
And track guide with Max and Daniel, Red Bull style
The drivers were behaving themselves, just touching the barriers, no crashes yet. And still, Lewis already faster than last years pole time.
Awesome gif.
Forgot that practice was on Thursday in Monaco!
Hopefully Verstappen can carry on his performance through Practice, and into Qualifying and the Race... and not into the wall.

And first VSC award and now red flag goes to ... you guessed it right Lance Stroll.
Forgot about that. I can't deal with another DNF though.
It shouldn't happen again with the experience he has now anyway.

Only real surprise is the lack of pace from the Mercs, they looked to be sliding a lot more than the others. Toro Rosso up there, but they always seem to go well in Monaco in the first few practice sessions.
Jenson is surprisingly close to Stoffel.
When cars go passed Swimming Pool it looks mega fast compared to the previous years.

Jenson's got a 15 place grid penalty. Guess he knew the car was going to break before even starting that's why he didn't bother with testing.
Sebastian is on fire today.

Yeah, it is kind of fitting for a one race in a Honda, but still bit shit, because that's your Monaco weekend ruined. Merc found some pace, but not enough, Ferrari looks to be the team to beat. Gap not as big as timing suggest though, some VSC and not a lot of clean running for the others in the last 5/10 minutes.
Jolyon and Lance in one team, make it happen.
Really interesting to see Lewis this far down. Unfortunate to see him not finding the right set up but really cool to see everyone else taking advantage of it.
