By Spengo Go To PostThat looks so much faster compared to last year.Vettel said it wasn't fuel test related, what most journo's thought, but something minor, not what.
Do they know why Ferrari stopped in pit lane today?
fun :P (when it shows up ;) )
At least the pictures work, stunning looking car

By Spengo Go To PostMcLaren is Arsenal.Bet they would take a top four :P
Probably just a test dummy, for pitsstop practice ;)
12:17 It's Vandoorne. The McLaren-Honda has caused the stoppage.
12:57 RED FLAG.
12:57 It's Vandoorne AGAIN in the McLaren.
Yeah, that seem like a smart decision :P

MCLAREN CANCEL PRESS CONFERENCE
McLaren has cancelled a planned media conference with Eric Boullier and Yusuke Hasegawa today.
Yeah, that seem like a smart decision :P
Good to see Kimi break the 1.19 barrier. I know they were quick last year in testing as well, but their long run pace looks better this year compared to the Mercs ( evenly matched) . RBR needs to find some time to catch up to Merc/Fer, unless there comes a more "aero advanced" version of the RBR13 in Melbourne and the midfield looks pretty bunched up so far.

Kimi dropping sandbags. Let's see if Merc takes the bait and throws down a lap.
I also wonder if any of the other teams at this point are starting to get annoyed at Mclaren for ruining their simulation runs every day.
According to Amus the engine is just complete shite:

In the McLaren of Fernando Alonso today is probably the sixth Honda engine on the eighth test day. The Japanese are facing a mountain of problems. The new engine, which separates like the Mercedes V6 turbocharger and compressor and the shaft in the V of the cylinder head placed, is to be structurally too weak. There are problems with combustion, with vibrations and temperatures. How are they even meant to run if they haven't sorted this by Melbourne? At this rate, the fastest lap Fernando and Vandoorme will do in Melbourne will be during the driver's parade.

Force India has revealed a bright new pink livery after signing a new deal with water technology firm Best Water Technology.
“The arrival of BWT in Formula One is huge news and represents one of the most significant partnerships in our ten year history,” said team co-owner Vijay Mallya.
“It’s a sign of how far we have come as a team with our strong results and completes a solid commercial performance over the winter.”
“For 2017 our cars will sport a vibrant new colour scheme with a smart matte finish. Changing the colour of our cars is an indication of the strength of this new partnership and a real statement of intent from BWT as they begin their relationship with the sport of Formula One.”
Lets say at least it stands out in the pack
Yeah, 1st race-weekend almost there and I'm actually looking forward to it this year and Melbourne is a great track to open the season. The chicane could be like the old "magny-cours chicanes" scary fast (easy 250+?). And the "Lauda corner" might be flat out and If so it will need some balls........ as long as it isn't easy flat. ;)
Even though Ferrari looked better than expected for me in testing, my money would still be on Lewis to "rise" to his 4th title. Hopefully Ferrari is really close and the Red Bulls have some extra HPs (hope we do not have to wait to the Barca engine upgrade) and we could have a good battle this season, at least better than the last few years.
For the casual fans or for the OP a nice spotter guide to recognise the new cars and liveries ;)
And as always, this is me trying to stay awake for the first race. Although this year it might be easier as I'm probably stilll bussy copying data from my old HDD to a USB stick, as I cannot get my new PC to recognise that old one :(

That 4th place battle looking to be pretty spicy this year.

But race-weekend isn't over and Melbourne is still Melbourne (Street circuit)......hope dies last :P
New face for the remainder of the weekend,
Wehrlein's back is hurting hime to much.
Glad I did not write off Ferrari after FP1/2, they look a lot better so far in FP3

By Spengo Go To PostTo be fair he lasted longer than I expected. It was the 1st time in a long while he was pushing again, so will do his confidence no good.
And he messed up all the runs on US :(
Red Bull will be pissed, there goes that long run test.
Nicole Kidman is boarding Ferrari hype train.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi :( ...... and that's also his teammates lap gone (think Max had only one lap of new US). And go Sebas, find few tenths to at least split Mercs
Nice Quali, at least top 3!!! Time expected bit faster based on Barca improvement, but cars do look great on track when pushed.Fer/Merc within few tenths, unfortunately Red Bull to far back :(
And Grosjean best of the rest!

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostDisgraceful how far Ferrari has fallen that second is celebrated.10 year is an awful long time ;)
And if Sebas gets the same start as last year......still all to play for.
edit pole lap:
Hamilton's first sector was ridiculous.
I'm optimistic we have an interesting season ahead. Ferrari are close and perhaps underperformed in Q3 a bit, and Bottas is pretty much up to speed straight away, though he was trying way too hard. But all of this is promising, if they were that close with all those mistakes and errors, and if Ferrari can keep it up, it's going to be an interesting season to say the least. Hoping for a Verstappen victory tomorrow.

Not entirely unexpected, but DanyRic starts from 15th
And its nice to see F1 cars being proper F1 cars again, directional changes at high speed are bonkers.
And I need more coffee :P

And I hope Horner was right about Max his race, just on RTL+ interview......either last or further up the grid after the start :)
By Spengo Go To PostGutted for Ricciardo right now. They still have some time to get the car ready for pits-street start.........20th instead of 15th if they get it done in time and stay out of trouble at the start for free ;)
Max had great start, but good not get past Kimi. :(

Now lets hope Lewis/Vettel will be great fight

Sure does feel good to be watching F1 again. Hopefully, I keep up with it this season.
Since I moved to Korea it has been hard :(((
I assume Liberty sold all the graphics that tell us where the hell everyone is on track.
