Go Kimi !!!
Cannot see Bottas last on this tire set 40s to slow, maybe tire heat from fight with Kimi, but needs to step it up.

Get shrekt Bottas.
By RoyalJCC Go To PostI totally forgot about the race. Shit…Welcome m8
And hi Formula 1 Slaent!! New here
Bottas reminds me of Massa 2010-13. Just not top tier.
Not making that comparison based on the last few laps, but some unambitious racing in the best car on the grid.

Reckon Lewis can catch Schumacher?
I dont think so.
He will get in the 80s tho
Dominant Lewis, worse start but calm and collected got Vettel and dominated from there
Ferrari did the right thing for once with their tactic nad Vettel p2
Max being Max, lets hope stewards don't spoil it (curbs inside, they have not complained about leaving track on the outside)
Ocon good again and that Palmer guy was brilliant ;)

seriously 5 second penalty what a nonsense, also pushed to inside by Kimi and they ran wide the entire weekend :(
By Pele.gif Go To PostMax passed Kimi from outside of the track lmao
we might have some drama here
Called lads.
5 seconds penalty for Max.
Fair.
Full results
And I'm with Alex on this one, rules and such, but still on curbs and balls needed to pull it of just amazing move....boooooh stewards :(

the limits of the track are the white lines, he had his 4 wheels out of bounds, and inside of the corner, gaining time. Shame but fair imo.

I'm with Lauda....complete bullshit, we are racing....always love Niki :P
"Er zit éën of andere mongool van een steward daar boven" :lol
Consistency with the stewards is an issue. People have been abusing track limits without penalty all weekend. But track limits become an issue when you fuck with Ferrari esp with points and a podium on the line.

Mercedes Formula 1 chairman Niki Lauda has labelled the call to penalise Max Verstappen in the United States Grand Prix as the worst decision he’s ever seen.Lauda is always right.
Red Bull driver Verstappen was given a five-second penalty after passing the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen down the inside of COTA's Turn 17 on the last lap of the race.
This dropped him back from third to fourth, as he had been deemed to have gained an advantage by putting all four wheels off-track.
Reacting to the penalty, Lauda said: "This decision is the worst I’ve ever seen. He [Verstappen] did nothing wrong. We’re racing drivers, we’re not on a normal road.
"It’s ridiculous to destroy the sport with this kind of decision."
Lauda recalled that all parties had agreed in a meeting last year to allow drivers to race without unnecessary interference.
“We got the stewards in to tell us how fast stewards could go during a race,” he said. “Because it always says ‘under investigation'. So we complained about that.
"The stewards were in, [Jean] Todt asked everybody, Charlie [Whiting] was there, we were there, and there we agreed all together that unless it is dangerous, the stewards would not interfere.

Bit for me it is also about the lack of consistency, especially this weekend were everybody was constantly of track and there were multiple passes were people were with 4 wheels of track.
By Spengo Go To PostWelcome to the thread m8.Appreciate it! I actually started the F1 thread here going back about three plus years when this site originated ;)
Just getting back from COTA now, fantastic race for Lewis! He was on it all weekend and even though Seb got him into T1, Lewis had his number.
Got to run the grid to the podium after the race and climbed the wall! Also, if anyone saw a crazy person doing a snow angel in the confetti, that was me! Got a ‘Ciao’ from Arrivabene and wave from Horner. Was really hoping to give my regards to Niki and Nicholas Hamilton, love those guys.
F1 needs more screens around track, or at least better speakers so everyone can hear commentary better in between cars passing. M whole section of fans on the grid had no clue of Max’s penalty.
Gutted for Ricciardo and Alonso, they were SO good to the fans all weekend and My wife and I were pulling for a good result for both.
On to Mexico!
I'm in Japan right now and missed the race as it was on early morning. But catching up on the news, well done to Lewis. Looks like it will be wrapped up in Mexico barring any mechanical disaster from merc. Well played to him and the team.
As an aussie, sad to see Ric out as he might of had another podium. The Max pass at the end was pretty nice, but rules are rules. You need to do it between the white lines. Agree with the consistency issue though. Stewards need to make sure they are consistent or the whole thing is a joke. Why was Bottas allowed to keep position by returning from off track? Good drives from Sainz, Ocon and Kvyat on his return.

I was very impressed with Sainz, jumping into a different car and performing like that, so for me he was the star of the race, but Max was impressive, regarding that move on Kimi I'm a little conflicted, it's likely an illegal pass by the rules, but I can find examples were it wasn't punished, still the way the tracks are designed kind of lead to that; so the rules need to be enforced or people will abuse, but...
Sainz did amazing, getting that aerocat lots of tv time.
Was a fun race with Max climbing up even with the Verstappen call.
Was a fun race with Max climbing up even with the Verstappen call.
I was also happy to see Sainz doing well. Renault should be a good fit for him, and hopefully being with a factory team allows him to grow. Looking forward to see him and Max butt heads again in the future. And needless to say it was a ton of fun to watch Max carve his way through the field again. That final lap attack on Raikkonen was something else and really brought in a ton of excitement, even if deemed illegal by the stewards. I just love that Max is always hungry. If there is any opportunity he will take it, even if it's on the final lap.
Bit of a shame about his post race comments. Max would do well to lose a bit of his arrogance and his father's anger issues. At the very least I expected some kind of apology for his choice of the word "retard" to describe the steward. Instead his comments on that were very much "*shrug* sometimes you say things in the heat of the moment". Hopefully he can grow in that department as he becomes older.
Last not but least, Bottas. The man's spirit is broken by Lewis right? He really needs to get his confidence back and improve his performance if he wants to keep that Silver Arrows seat in 2019.
