FP1 was fun to see, specially Max his first lap (2 sec faster than guys that done 3/4 laps already) and Fernando's 1st lap in the end on inters (compared to Fer)
FP2 hard to read anything in to it, due to no dry laps in FP1, but Ferrari looks good and the Mercedes looks bad on track.
Session stopped early due to drainage comming loose, cutting Grosjean tire and big of.

FP3:
Ferrari still on top, even though Vettel's engine had issues (new one for Q/R), Mercedes still behind and RBR there or there about. Q looks dry right now, let's hope that will chance tomorrow.

Ferrari title chances gone? .......... still few minutes to go to fix it and oohh nooo.......... ...hope for Sebastian it rains tomoorow, because he will start last :(
Q1
Q1
Lewis !!
Mercedes back to last race aero for Lewis trick seams to have worked, Bottas no were near on the newer stuff. Kimi so close, just last sector better for Lewis and such a shame RBR has no Q3 mode, so 3/4th for the boys.
Ocon best of the rest, entire weekend and Stoffel p7 and well ahead of Fernando!
sector times are of, weird :(

By Kidjr Go To Postbaring no fuck ups this race title is pretty much lewis's at this point right? If Lewis gains points on Vettel tomorrow, I would say so. He would have an DNF + "still points advantage" over Vettel and I cannot see Ferrari winning all remaining races, so something seriously bad had to happen to Lewis.
But as always its only Saturday and read the stories about how Mercedes was #@@#%-up last race-weekend in Singapore on Saturday ;)
By Spengo Go To PostKimi with turbo problems :/
Lewis vegan powers are starting to show up.
Karma after Singapore ;)
Yeah that's both Ferrari's gone, from the front......let's see if Sebastian can make up some ground and do damage limitation.
#GOMAX
And DannyRic to p3 , nice battle with (slow) Bottas)

Pretty rare to see Lewis getting overtaken on track, Nico never managed it.
VER is flying. I think he shouldn't exert the PU so much, should be a bit conservative.

By Spengo Go To PostIf it rains in 20 minutes Vettel will be in a good place.Think dry will be better for Vettel, still faster tyre to come, although anything can happen when it poors in Malasyia
Tost on Grosjean :P
Get ready for some purple sectors.
Ricciardo staying out is another interesting development. If he can come out close to, or even ahead of, Hamilton, all bets are off for how this race finishes.

so much more mature drive ;) , must have been his Birthday
Mercedes speed problems, Ferrari technical and be there to take it, so deserved after all the unlucky shit he has thrown at him this season
Vettel Max damage controll, Lewis still gaining so he will be happy to and fantastic weekend for Stoffel!!

I'm going to miss this circuit. A lot of great action and drama today, especially in the midfield battles.
One of the best races this year.

Always have been a great track, wet or dry.
two long straights, with an of-camber corner in the middle and a nice 1st corner were two cars can drive next to each other, followed by straight and hard braking zone.
The quick pass on Lewis was key, knowing his WC was more important with Vettel so far back.

That gearbox has to last the rest of the season assuming they took the free change after Singapore DNF. Ferrari have to decide if that's worth the risk.
By Spengo Go To PostLets wait if they will race with it and just don't want to give the message to Mercedes (strategical) yet. But in general sideways impact is mostly gearbox done, driving lateral over someone's wheel is less "damaging" for gearbox.
It will officially be mankind's most resilient gearbox.
and for those that felt Lance was to blame, finally cockpit cam from his car
Was going to come here and share that. He really has made some bizarre decisions at times this season. Like his brain completely fades.
By Spengo Go To Post…….he's back, checked earlier this season and could not find any.... great!!
Back to back races and we are in Suzuka for round 16 the Japanese Grand Prix.
After two devastating weekends for Ferrari, were Vettel should have walked away with 50 points, he must score more than Lewis this weekend. He still has it in his own hands, but I cannot see him win the WC if he finishes behind Lewis here.
We talk a lot about bad luck for Max, but I do wish Kimi a normal race-weekend, because the last two he didn't even got to do one corner.
This brilliant track lay-out designed by John Hugenholtz is a combi of a high-downforce 1st sector and a lot of other parts were power is king, so track should be better for the Mercedes as last week in Malaysia. Looking through the previous results I was surprised Lewis never got his car on pole, so maybe this isn't one of his favourites.
And after last weeks win, RBR and Max could do well here. First sector specially, just don't know if the Renault engine has enough for the parts after hairpin and last chicane. If so, RBR could start to play a big role in the championship battle (if Merc/Fer isn't 2nd fastest, but 3rd).
And last home race for the McLaren Honda partnership, a top 5/6 finish for Alonso/Stoffel would be great, but same as above RBR, chassis great, still no power)
And I guess you figured out by now that I think the amazingly, mad, crazy Japanese F1 fans are really cool, few more ;)

There goes Sainz... lost the rear on the kerb, spun into opposite wall. Red flag.

Almost stayed awake for FP1, but my cable (no tv or internet) stopped working around one o'clock, so that saved me ;)
Ferrari and Mercedes looked close, RBR just behind. Weather on Sunday should be better and hotter, so I guess Mercedes need a bit more work. Lewis will have to do it by himself, as Bottas has a 5 grid gearbox penalty.
Sainz crash FP1
Vettel onboard, esses are amazing
And a couple drivers did some running in the wet, lap with Ocon.

Maybe a little bit of rain saturday morning but theoretically should be dry the rest of the weekend.
