By Spengo Go To PostSpa is about to get a whole let less crowded. They stayed last year and this year they got to see him a lot more ;)
You could see that one coming from a mile away, they (force india) never really dealt with the issues between those two.
Lewis en Bottas on the softs, Vettel/Kimi/DannyRic on the Ultras could get interesting last 10+ laps if SC is gone.

Prepare the fireworks boys
Mercedes you could see that one coming two, unless they get the advantage later in the stint
nice 3 wide :p
Lewis out lap middle sector, wow

Great race by both Lewis and Sebastian, race was won yesterday Q and that outlap by Lewis after SafetyCar.
The moment Max engine was gone you just new DannyRic would end up the podium
No clue why Mercedes put Bottas on the softs instead of Ultras after SC, did cost him the podium. Force India need to ask DannyRic for the weed, because they are gonna need a lot of it.
Next Monza, another Merc track and with the gap between Lewis and Sebastian just 7 points, bring it on.
Perez and Ocon no longer free to race.

Back too back races means tomorrow starts another race-weekend and we are heading to Italy for the Gran Premio Heiniken D'Italia 2017
From a orange coloured Spa to the red sea of the Ferrari tifosi....... 70 years of Ferrari, 7 years since last win, 2017 and Kimi in the 7 car......it's happening lads.
Round 13 of Vettel vs Hamilton and after last weeks race there are only 7 points between them. Long straights and only few chicanes/corners must mean Mercedes power track and it could well be that Lewis heads to Singapore with a lead (if Valteri is on the pace) in the championship for the first time. It is a must win for Mercedes, with Singapore more a Ferrari track next, so I guess they want a dry and uneventful race on Sunday (probably rain Fri/Sat., not Sunday :( ).
And they finally found something for Max on 4 wheels that did make it to the chequered flag, shame he is back to his ReddBull helmet :(
(images as always from F1Fanatic!!)
How do people know what FP session to read into, like Lewis is a second ahead of Seb but should I be reading anything into that.
By Kidjr Go To PostHow do people know what FP session to read into, like Lewis is a second ahead of Seb but should I be reading anything into that.Ferrari this year (specially FP1) is never as fast as Mercedes on the Fridays. My best guess is that they run safer engine modes (less power to safe mileage or maybe bit more fuel), gap is normally roughly 8 tenths up to one second, so nothing to read in to today's FP1 gap.
FP2 is mostly about the long runs in the end (race simulations), Mercedes did look a bit better than the Ferrari. but the session was quit messy today, so hard to draw real conclusions about balance between the two, other than those two are faster than the rest ;)
If tomorrow at FP3 (qualifying simulations) they do not catch up to the Mercedes, than Ferrari starts to worry.
Full FP3 times
Max was having fun today in Ascari, sliding it multiple time on entry and exit
pointless FP3, other than few guys getting a feeling for the wet conditions. Qualifying should be wet and fun and the RBR/TR guys must love that they took their Engine penalties this weekend :(
FP3 "High"lights
For crying out loud can we go back to the days without radar rain predictions. In the past when it was dry enough you would go, now they are trying to find gaps in the radar, which they than keep missing :(
No football on anyway, so I got the time this afternoon

what team do you support?
By Kidjr Go To Postwhat team do you support? Not really team kind of guy, I more "support" those that have that bit of extra talent in my eye. So on this grid, I do enjoy watching Lewis/Max/Fernando drive, DannyRic is ok to (person).
16.40 local time restart.....finally

Anyway, I'm at a party right now, can you tell me what's happening?
it's intermediates weather, but track is still cold and lots of drivers struggling (surprisingly not the Williams, maybe downforce higher?)
Stoffel and Stroll through !
Mercedes fastest ---> Lewis pole if he doesn't do anything silly

And it starts to rain again, just when drivers go out on track for Q3
1/2 grid out on wets and they need to come in already.

Lewis pole, Max, Danny Ric and Stroll on P2 after penalties :owh: and Ocon P3!!
and that's one more than Michael for Lewis
Max almost lost few time in Parabolica (lost some time), but Mercedes Lewis was both in tactics (two runs--> lower fuel) dominant today.
Ferrari in last section no were :(
car control ladies and gents :wow:

Bloody hell. Hamilton really is the king of qualifying it just looks like magic how he gains a full second out of nowhere.
Great work by Ocon and Stroll. Perez on suicide watch.
Great drives from Max and Ricc as well, though shame they have penalties.

So many out of their normal position should make for great racing, could also mean overly eager egos at the start.
bring it on
bring it on
Inb4 Max' engine blows
My prediction: Perez and Ocon to steer directly into one another on turn 2, both cars totalled and the drivers jump out and just start punching one another for the rest of the race.

By Spengo Go To PostHeads need to roll at Honda.Look at all the Renault engine problems, but hey at least when it works it has some power
Alonso whining about "Palmer-Karma" after he avoided penalty last race, pot cattle mate ;)
Nice move bij DannyRic !!, although Kimi common
Lewis and Mercedes on top all weekend, results--> Lewis leading the championship. Means in Singapore, Ferrari track, next race Kimi needs to deliver for Vettel.
Great drive by DannyRic, ahead of Kimi (really Ferrari an other year of this :( ) and the custom Mercedes teams.

Lewis do you want to get out of here alive??
yeah that hurts, as was Lewis comment on the podium ;)
Definitely could have been much worse. RB demonstrated the pace to beat Ferrari and also qualified ahead. Ferrari were lucky boys with those penalties.
This is some Night King level accuracy throw :p

By Spengo Go To PostPutting Jolyon in a press conference just before getting axed is cruel. He will make it to the end, would have been long gone if there was an opening in his contract.
We are leaving Europe behind and start to travel around the globe for the remainder of the season. First stop is Singapore at night for round 14, the Singapore Airlines Singapore GP.
Celebrating it's 10 years anniversary and for me one of the more interesting events that have been added to the racing calendar over the years. It's a high(er) speed street track, so not just another Monaco, although downforce still be king.
It's a must win for Ferrari and based on previous form, Monaco/Budapest high downforce/low tire pressures, they should be favourite. Vettel could do with an on pace Kimi and maybe Red Bulls, that take points of Lewis in his Mercedes.
Having said that, a struggling Merc was only 50 thousands behind pole in Monaco, so could see Lewis pulling some magic and spoil the Ferrari party.
And some major announcements from the last few weeks. First Bottas, no surprise here, is another Fin that gets an other one year deal. Top teams want to have options open for 2018 (DannyRic/Max), still it's a championship winning car, so he should take his chance, might be his last.
And McLaren finally dumped Honda and they will get a Renault engine for next season, that at least is reasonable fast when it works, so hopefully a more competitive Alonso in 2018. Toro Rosso in return will get a Honda in the back, with no doubt in mind to see if that could be an option for the big boys at RBR for 2019. They might need it anyway, as Renault has doubt about selling engines to red Bull after 2018.
And the winner of this weeks "lets put some wings, on my wings so I can have even more wings award" goes to Force India
Results FP1, most noticeable was Mercedes struggling with their rear tires, they need to get on top of that.
Max drifting :P
Alonso being Alonso, glad that his whining will be gone next year
Odd seeing the cars go around during the day here.
RBR are looking really strong here, can fly over the kerbs while Bottas can't even attack a corner by the looks of it. That lap by Ricciardo is already a new track record.
