By n8 dogg Go To PostWas just reading something on culture in 2017 and man Nicole Kidman had a good yearAnd yet she will mostly be remembered this year for this:
- Oscar nom for Lion
- The Beguiled
- The Killing of a Sacred Deer
- Big Little Lies
- Top of the Lake
By Laboured Go To PostHer agent's doing work but I'm not a great fan of any of her recent performances.
someone hasn't seen paddington m8
on that subject, hugh grant in 20 roles in paddington > james mcavoy in 20 roles in split
By Laboured Go To PostHer agent's doing work but I'm not a great fan of any of her recent performances. Her agent is just trying to keep up with whomever is putting work in on her face. She's gone full Stepford Wife and often doesn't resemble a human being. Netflix just recommended a film she did with Nicolas Cage from 2011 and she looks very, very different.

By Hitch Go To PostwtfHer excuse was that she didn't want to damage the ring that she had loaned.

I don’t even understand the plot of this film, starts out as your fairly standard heist film then turns out to be unexplained supernatural horror film. Just...what :lol
Ending is all kinds of wtf too, doesn’t even make any sense whatsoever

By s y Go To PostMost of slaent watched the leaked Game of Thrones episodes on Spankbang.
No we didn't. We downloaded it
Watched Baby Driver today, was really good. The last part of the film felt a bit shit compared to the rest tho.
Wind River yesterday, was very interesting. I liked it a lot but you could see what was going to happen like half way through the film.

By reilo Go To PostIs this your first Lanthimos experience? Mine was The Lobster.Nah, Watched Dogtooth and The Lobster before. But this one is my favorite so far
Big Sick was heartwarming. Holly Hunter is a gem and Ray Romano pulled his weight.
Also, I may not have had family dinner and had some random Bosnian girl be invited, but man, the "you should marry someone from your own culture" shit is stupid legit.

Just finished watching Mother!. I think the film was heavily reliant of the performance of Jennifer Lawrence which I found quite wooden at times. Perhaps Aronofsky was too busy trying to bone her to get a decent performance out of her.
By s y Go To PostThe Killing of a Sacred Deerlol
did you like it?
By Laboured Go To PostWell, Brawl in Cell Block 99 was utterly brutal and just keeps spiralling. Enjoyed it.
Yeah great movie, very raw. The violence in this movie really goes all out. And even Vaughn didn't manage to annoy me with poor acting this time around.
Also saw The Killing of a Sacred Deer this afternoon. Even though with this director you know what to expect it's still a weird and trippy ride. But by all means in a good way. Some dips and boring parts to be excused, it was a good film.
Think I'll just watch Die Hard later tonight then, it's Christmas after all.
By Elchele Go To PostlolI think I loved it

By n8 dogg Go To PostThought the end was a massive cop out. I got what they were going for but it just didn't ring true.It did seem a bit abrupt. But I get what they were going for too. Dan's involvement and behavior to the entire situation at the end was also odd.
I do believe that Taylor's phoney Instagram personality that overflowed into her real life relationship is likely very realistic for a lot of her types.

Don't think he was really having to try.

Blade Runner 2049
Wow that was great. What a movie .Villanueve is ridiculous. This had me glued to the screen from the start. Completely breezed through the 2hr40min run time. Villanueve is a legend already. Every scene was purposeful and nothing lingered on too long or cut too short. Hard to believe he has been putting out a movie a year the last 4 or 5 years and they've all been quality.
Great performances all around, Gosling was surprisingly decent and this was the first time I've seen Harrison Ford act in a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile.
Also, that might have just been the best looking movie I've ever seen, holy hell. Like, every frame could be a wallpaper. Shit. And there was so much variety to the visuals while all feeling like they belong in the same universe. I think if another person was in charge they'd make the whole movie look like the city scenes. Hats off to the art director and cinematographer. Phenomenal.
This at the top of my 2017 list for sure.
Almost makes me want to watch the original until I remember what a boring POS it was.
Lady Bird up next.

Finally watched War for the Planet of the Apes. Another phenomenal entry and a great send off. Like how each of the three movies are distinctly different in tone and setting, and yet a trilogy in todays age somehow didn't suck.
