That Ira fellow has a narrative that he seems to want to push. He follows that Tweet with: Yeah it was a snafu but...and then: media focus since Sunday night has been so depressing.
Depressing? Like, sort yourself out and get your priorities in order.
Jenkins is class personified.

People that work in Hollywood at Chazelle's and Jenkins' level genuinely love the medium. They won't let some hacks with their preconceived/bullshitted narratives tear them down. People just love fighting windmills, I guess.
Jenkins and Chazelle look genuinely happy on that cover together. If that is depressing to you then you're soulless.

btw, why does everyone hate Mel Gibson, is he a massive cunt or something?
That's some foolish conclusion jumping on the offended's part.
The ceremonial mistake will be apart of LLL's and Moonlight's legacy, it's unfortunate that it happened but it is what it is, a mistake.
I'd argue that to continue to drill down on how bad the mistake was and how it tied these two films together for the foreseeable future further ties that knot and effectively turns complainers into servants of that piece of its history.
It's best to let it be, the creators from both of the films have done well to embrace that.

Jenkins pretty much ended it by saying 'how would you react if I had won best director and La La Land won the best pic and they put Damien on the cover?'

also reilo is right but that's a mindset that has taken over everything in life. People just need to pick a side for anything. Sony vs MS, La La Land vs Moonlight, Republican vs Democrat
Prometheus was great fun but its bollocks. New one looks like Ridley's attempt to make Aliens. Not sure he has it in him
I had fun in the theater with Prometheus, but it's not able to withstand that shitty lore.
Honestly, Alien lore just isn't very good or interesting. Part of why Alien is so great.

By Sanjuro Go To PostPrometheus was probably the best looking forgettable film.revenant
By s y Go To Postrevenant
You know...I'll argue, just because Revenant wasn't complicated. The former generated just so much debate and thoughts and ultimately it was nothing more than starring at a McDonald's menu too long at 3am.
I liked La La Land, but when I found out that it was a movie he wrote when he was 25, I was like, "Ah, of course." So I can understand why some critics have reacted so violently to it.
It's a great achievement, but I think 30 years from now we'd be treating this movie like Chazelle's Mean Streets, and not, you know, Raging Bull or Goodfellas.

Yep, agree. It is messy, but it shows off extraordinary talent.

True true, the fact that they keep trying to change it doesn't help though.
Just keep it simple and it's ok.
Elephant like (jockeys) found or made the aliens, they turn against them (dead jockey in Alien) infest human colony and get wiped out.
Atleast they didn't go the comic route. While I love the Earth: War series of Aliens (with Hicks & Ripley after Aliens the movie) them propagating the Alien is some Space Jesus with the Queen Mother influencing humans from 1000s of lightyears away is some jank shit.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostApparently the budget for Infinity War and the sequel is 500M$, each!
It'll make it back easily.
By Lupercal Go To PostIt'll make it back easily. Each movie will have to bring around 1.5B$.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostEach movie will have to bring around 1.5B$.Isn't it double normally ?
By Lupercal Go To PostIsn't it double normally ?No, it's closer to 2.5x, 3x. You have to think about the marketing budget on top of that and the difference of box office returns in some countries (a much smaller percentage of the box office gross from China goes to the studio).
So a good rule is to point at least 2.5x the budget.
The movie will still bring a profit and it will also probably strengthen the individual character movies future box office.

Who would have thought that Kong would have an higher rotten tomatoes score (83%) than Beauty And The Beast (74%) ?
Yes, BATB has a higher metacritic of 64 than Kong's 62, but whatever.

By reilo Go To PostKong: Skull Island getting really good early buzz. When this move got announced, I couldn't have cared less. Peter Jackson just made his nine hour version of King Kong like 10 years ago. It's been done to death at this point.
And yet, now I find myself entirely too excited about Skull Island. The marketing has all been on point, the trailers have been fantastic. The blockbuster we deserve.

All in.

By Elchele Go To PostIs Fences good? or Oscar's bait? It's based on a Politzer Prize winning play and it's a passion project for Denzel, who I think wants to adapt all of August Wilson's play, so I don't think it qualifies as Oscar bait.
Just out from...umm...Get Out.
Good suspense and a pretty clever twist in the third act saved the film. The journey to that point though is filled will prolonged closeups and drawn out conversations that really amount to nothing. Entertaining enough but dragged for the first hour, so much so I'm going to pick up lunch meats for a sandwich and head home. I had originally planned to see Logan too but I'm drained.

By Elchele Go To PostIs Fences good? or Oscar's bait? It's pretty good? It's way too long, the actor that plays Denzel's youngest son is awful and they shot a play so it's not particularly dynamic or cinematic. Denzel and Viola Davis are magnificent, though.

edit: watched The Edge of Seventeen. Really liked it. The humor was great and the main character and Woody were superb
Instead of watching all these highly rated movies I owned during my time off, I watched the entire HBO Spawn series on youtube

I watched LLL and Moonlight the last two nights and thought both were pretty average.
I enjoyed the acting in Moonlight, but I was expecting the story to be a bit more meatier.
Going to watch Contact tonight. I have been enjoying my recent cinema kick. This will be the fourth night in a row and I might go see Manchester by the sea tomorrow. I am glad the cinema near me is still showing these films in Korea.
