By Elchele Go To PostMoana was underwhelming. Kubo was a thousand times better. If they didn't people would have noticed that the movie didn't have a plot.
Did they really need to put a song every two minutes?
Fist fight was kinda funny. Not worth seeing in theaters though.
By Elchele Go To PostVerbinski is a hackHe made two decent to good films (The Ring remake and Pirates 1). Rango is fun too, beautiful animation.
Also, haven't seen Monaoa yet, but Kubo was really good indeed.

By Kidjr Go To PostI thought base formula was no different to ant man ironman and co in terms of origin story but was visual spectacle.I liked it ...
Not the best Marvel film though.

i mean, it looks absolut great and the production values are incredible but it has plenty of weird and bad stuff in it. I liked Moana and Zootopia better. But "Ma vie de Courgette" is the best animated movie of last year and i'm not only saying that because lots of my friends worked on it, maybe a little but not just.

i watched Moonlight yesterday and i have very conflicting feelings about it. i pretty much agree with everything n8 wrote (down to that Moana comment).
Watched Nocturnal Animals the other day, Ford has an incredible eye for directing. The ending (both) was brutal.

Even Zootopia is a lot better than Moana.

Great song. Proper Bowie pastiche.
The crab song and the Maui ones were the only good ones imo. The rest were pure trash

By n8 dogg Go To PostGreat song. Proper Bowie pastiche. It's boring.
The best animated films released in the states in 2016 were "April and the Extraordinary World" and "The Boy and the Beast"
Red Turtle didn't get a full release. So I haven't seen it

i don't think they have anything to do with distribution.
i'm sure they'll get a deal post-oscars as many movies do.
By s y Go To Postmore people need to watch anomalisa.I have to. Been on my downloads carpet for so long.
Should I watch even if I'm not much of a fan of Kaufman?
Man... the more I think about Great Wall the more I like it. Movie could've been about 30 minutes longer too.
Its got its cheese but it does a lot of things right.

By s y Go To Postmore people need to watch anomalisa.Saw that with the ex. Good movie and she cried in the theater and on the drive home after that.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostReally? That's surprising. It looks terrible. Its better than the summer blockbusters we got. There are some GRRAT shots in it too and honestly it rides he fuck out of the rated R line.
Its campy as hell but if I had to watch Transformers, X-men Apocalypse, Bourne, Independence Day 2, or this again I'd happily choose this.
And the Matt Damon White Savior thing was BS too. They undercut the fuck out of dude's accomplishments lol
I don't know how ya'll make time between games and movies and work and life to watch movies.

Watched Train to Busan yesterday, as it took some time to get it released here in Germany.
It stands out as one of the better zombie movies, among all the trash that is released. Which is already sad enough despite a thousand different zombie movies, but that's a different topic.
It was a nice change of scenery and not everyone having a gun. I like the different approach and already had some really great moments with a japanese zombie manga called I am a Hero and the different tone due the setting.
However, it's certainly not gonna mark a new highlight from the outstanding Korean movie market, but it's a pretty solid movie.
You'll know which topics the movie is gonna target pretty early on and the dialogues aren't the strong points in certain situations.
I'm still not the biggest fan of "fast" zombies as they lose alot of their character and appeal, but it's my own preference and nothing I would blame the movie for.
I can definitely recommend it for anyone that's looking for a zombie flick.
In general there are so many other awesome Korean movies I would rather recommend, but they're all part of a different genre.
short doc about how vfx artists/companies get screwed. There's a snippet in there early on about cameron having vfx done over due to some seagulls. fuck.
That one dude shitting on Gravity was hilarious.
that was a pretty good documentary, thanks for linking

"because fricking sandy bullock makes 62 million dollars, why shouldn't you get a piece of the pie?"
If Bullock did in fact bank $62 millie off Gravity, then something is wrong with the system. That backend I guess, but those are the deals the VFX studios should be holding out for. I get that the six studio's pit them all against one another for the best deal possible but that's capitalism baby. Get organized.
By Moris Go To PostGet Out is gooood
Blumhouse is having a hell of a start of 2017. Get Out is going to end the weekend with 30M$ and Split is still bring on tons of money. The budget of those combined is around 14M$ and they will bring out a total of at least 400M$ worldwide.
