By reilo Go To PostIf they wanted to differentiate themselves from those two they would do a $199 console.
There's nothing wrong with a $20,000 Toyota if a $50,000 Mercedes exists. Nintendo should behave more like the former.
Nailedddddd it
See we really can co exist reilo
By Trey Go To Poststicking to their guns. they're not looking at sony and ms as direct competition any more. battery life and accessory prices are WOAH thoughwell then they fuckin dumb because thats their direct competition

By masud Go To PostSeriously is Zelda the only Launch game?
1,2 Switch is as well
By reilo Go To PostI bet you Sony could do $349 for PS4 Pro this fall. What then?
It will be less of a big deal than having Pokemon.
This price is to milk early adopters, though. They know their bread & butter is parents getting the kids something to shut them up in the car, and those purchases don't happen at this price. For now they can ride the oddly resurgent 3DS for another year in that bracket, but I will be shocked if Switch doesn't see regular price cuts.

So apparently virutal console online play is a thing and you get VC games as your monthly rewards for paying for online.

only exception was the 3DS because it was failing so spectaculary in its original price point
also this doesnt rly seem like a 3ds replacement at all with that battery life + the spec of the games shown

You guys are always wildly over-pessimistic (and wrong) about Nintendo's chances. Nature abhors a vacuum, so it gave me the sight to see truth.
I mean, I'm not even buying it. I'm just trying to be reasonable here.
By reilo Go To PostMan you won't see a price drop on this for two years, get real.
I'm telling you, that would legit shock me. They'd be abandoning 80% of their audience, this isn't Wii U where they had another thing to carry the ship. I think you see a price drop in year 2 unless it's setting the world on fire.
"This isn't Wii U" and thinking Nintendo isn't repeating the same mistakes? Come on man. This is delusional.

The Switch Advance controller will have a 5 hour battery life and cost 99.99

What haven't they price dropped outside of Wii U? The U was a different situation - they never sold through their initial manufacturing run so there was no economy of scale to kick in. And they knew they were moving on, so no need to juice sales as a loss leader by taking a hit. It made no financial sense for them in that situation to not just milk every dollar out of what they had. And even then they had quasi-drops by increasing what was in the package.
But Gamecube hit $99. Wii hit $99. DS & 3DS both had multiple drops.
more and more info coming out it really just looks like another wii u lol
rushed launch + less than barebones online + overpriced console + not showing games
only thing this has over the wii u is that we actually have a Zelda coming out on it

But it isn't Wii U. That had the 3DS behind it to save their bottom line. If the entire company's future was riding on people buying the Wii U, you better believe they would have cut its price quick too, like they did with 3DS.
"This isn't the Wii"???
Yeahhh ugh until otherwise proven and at that price point and trash lineup and hardware...

I don't think we're having the same conversation here. I'm purely talking about number of revenue streams.

Yet we had people in this very thread accusing them of evil conspiracies because they're only shipping 2 million at launch. I think there'll be an early adopter audience thirsty for Zelda who'll bite. After that you're right, it's not gonna happen. Which is why I say price cut once they see sales plateauing. They've done it for everything else ever, aside from the unique situation of Wii U.

zelda running halfway decent on the wii u might save me 460 USD because that game is getting bought march 3rd, no doubt about it
this thing only has 32 gb of storage? how the fuck is it gonna run those ps4 ports where those install sizes are like easily 20-30 gb?
I want to give Nintendo my money but they didn't convince me that I should buy one immediately. Really hope they have more to show before March.
