By KingGondo Go To PostImagine spending your life worrying about technical specs
Why are gamers so defensive about this anyway? People will always value certain things in certain items. Some people are still fine using flip phones in 2017 because they only use it for phone calls, other people want shit like microSD slots for expandable storage in their smart phones. Different people have different needs, who knew.
Not worrying about tech specs doesn't make you better than anyone.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostLook I try not to get too crazy about specs I would have kept my mouth shut for 900p but 720p is justMy point is: as long as the game looks good and plays smoothly (which it will) I'm not going to concern myself with comparing it to the PS4.
I'm not buying it for a superior technical experience, and neither are 99% of consumers.
Same with the iPhone. It isn't cutting edge in some ways but the user experience is great.

+ extra doc + joycon charging grip + extra pro controller + game + Tax
299 console + 90 doc for second TV+ 30 charging grip + 70 extra pro controller + 60 game. That' $550 before tax so about $600 bucks. If I don't get the extra doc it's $460 before tax so about $500.
What if I want another set of Joycons or something?
The console is a fucking rip off.

why do you need all of this?
i need the switch and a game.
By Smokey Go To PostJust because youre cool with spending $400 on some 2013 tech don't mean it's ok
show me a 2013 tablet that runs BoTW or similiar games and i will buy it.
this thing is tiny (compared to consoles) and has pretty good power.
i said it before, they don't have killer margins on the Switch HW, i can guarantee you that.

All this? My second scenario was basically no doc, a way to keep the joycons charged and a functional controller for other games. If you don't get the charging mount for the joycons you've basically ruined your ability to pick up and go and have to plan for your gaming on the move.
300 + 30 + 60 still puts the thing at $400 before tax or around $450. This isn't much better for old ass tech.

the joycons have a pretty long battery life, just put them on the switch when you charge the switch, you have to do that anyway. i see no big issues here outside of a minor inconvenience. put the joycon on the grip thing you get, it's quite comfortable that way. i have no need for a pro controller.
and the tech isn't that old.
By p s y Go To Posthow many you buying dipro? gimme a discount bro.like twelve.
zero as it will be free

The switch is charging while I'm playing at home on my TV. The joycons aren't.
By Fenderputty Go To PostThe switch is charging while I'm playing at home on my TV. The joycons aren't.they have 20 hour battery life, just put them on the switch when you are done gaming. takes like a second and it will make it ready to go when you want to travel.
if you game in 2h sessions, you can forget about it 10 times before it becomes an issue.
That's better than I thought then, but still too much money for my tastes. It's not like I don't think people shouldn't get the thing. Fuck I bought a lunch console PS3 because of the BD player. I was definitely hoping for a more competitive price compared to consoles out currently though. Eventually I will be in the market for a Nintendo too for my daughter so I'll wait for the price to drop or their next iteration.
i agree that nobody really needs one right now, don't get me wrong, but it's mainly due to no software and maybe that idiotic online system (i still refuse to believe that this is it).
Im jumping in because under powered console or not, The price it'll cost me is how much I value the two hours high quality gaming I'll get a day on my commute. I've tried a a vita and while good I think this will be far superior experience. I'm looking forward to Zelda and I haven't played Mario since the NES days, I'm stoked man.

Also, Zelda is supposed to last 3 hours on battery :D
I'm planning to buy a portable charger with at least 10000mah of capacity in order to charge my Switch & Nexus 6P, so the Switch battery life shouldn't be an issue.
I’ve seen that pic around, but I hope someone re-illustrates the point without it looking like a terminally ill character from an anime drama.

The Japanese text actually says "When I saw the Nintendo Switch's separate controllers, I was convinced it would ruin people."

This guy is going to stand in line outside the Nintendo store for a month to get the first Switch.
How does that even work? Do they take numbers? If he goes to the bathroom at any point does somebody else get his spot?

Why are you asking questions to which you already know the answers?
Why are you in line so early, LFK? :p

Forget that noise. I'm gonna stay warm inside for a month, sleep in on the 3rd, walk into the store in the middle of the afternoon, then play Zelda on my Wii U because it's basically the exact same thing.
Then probably sell it at a profit a couple of years later because you know that version's going to be supply constrained AF.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostThis guy is going to stand in line outside the Nintendo store for a month to get the first Switch. It's a stunt. He's not literally staying there all night every night, he'd freeze his ass off and smell like shit. And yes someone could theoretically come and take his spot when he goes to his AirBnB.
How does that even work? Do they take numbers? If he goes to the bathroom at any point does somebody else get his spot?
They do give bracelets but usually only a few hours before opening. I've waited there overnight before. The shops across the street let you use bathrooms and usually people are good about not jacking your spot; there's a whole Nintendo World camping culture. You're supposed to watch out for your neighbors and vice versa and there's a lot of handheld local play.
I'm too old for this shit now though so Amazon release date delivery it is.
