If this was a holiday/black friday type of thing, I'd probably talk myself into it - even with all the extra fukkery.
Xenoblade and Fire Emblem.... fuck it. Take my money.

Unless you're one of those weirdos who have an allergic reaction to the controllers, it was secretly the best thing Nintendo's done since the SNES.

Where? They're out of production and $300 on Amazon. The cheapest price I've seen is $200 US for a refurb, and I expect that to go up closer to Zelda hitting.
To many questions still remain unanswered. And their responses to being pressed on those questions leave too much doubt that this thing isn't going to be Wii U all over again.
And I still can't find a Wii U for what I would consider an acceptable price for a dead system. Nothing below $200 currently and that's used. Not sure I even want a used system that relied so heavily on that controller. The library is actually decent, I'll give them that. But will those VC games transfer to Switch? Stay tuned...lol

Mario Maker amazon bundles are going for $400. Its insane.
If you want a WiiU you better buy one soon or your only chance will be aftermarket.
The Wii U Pro Controller is great, and the Gamepad works amazingly for certain games (Pikmin 3 springs immediately to mind).

I want to say less because I had a ton of other things coming and going at the same time though. This was gamestop though - could've been a seasonal thing.
edit: Man I HATED that controller lol
everything about it. shit. i never had to think about where I sat a controller before. just ridiculous. even my vita didn't need to be treated so delicately
I'm interested in a Wii U for Galaxy 2, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword which I never played. Plus other smaller VC stuff. That price of entry though is a huge turnoff.
edit: Hold up, the two Galaxy games and Skyward were never remastered in HD for the Wii U?!
This fucking company man...

For free? I'd be shocked. They won't even let you keep Clu Clu Land Online or whatever they're putting up on their subscription service.

I've believed for a while now that Wii U is going to be relatively valuable a decade from now. Nintendo collectors are nuts, and it's going to be a hardcore favourite down the line that wasn't fully appreciated until after its own time like the Dreamcast was. It's got a good library that's comparatively small and relatively easy to complete, but also some of the rarest first party Nintendo games like Devil's Third.
Really strange they've elected to drop MiiVerse considering the new paid online business model. That seems like a proper hook that was actually well received by most people. Who didn't enjoy seeing their little dude show up in some of their games?
It has lots of exclusive great games that are likely to become very difficult to play in the future. That's the draw.
The only thing that interests me on the Wii u is wind waker HD. That's it. The Mario world and skyward sword both look bad.
Man fuck Nintendo.

Not my thing. I like the galaxy/sunshine/64 marios over the nsmb/Mario world.
I don't even like looking at Mario world.

Miiverse was weird, they somehow created an internet where nobody was an asshole to each other. That's not the humanity I know and understand.
The only thing I'll really miss about that stuff is that it will make Mario Kart appreciably worse. The girl I was dating when 8 came out didn't care about games, but she loved making miis from directions online and stayed up until 4am one night making tons of them. Iron Man, Darth Vader, Disney characters, Mega Man, Pikachu, just tons of stuff. The fact that you can combine them with the amiibo costumes gave the game an infinite cast of characters, and you'd see really interesting things people had made in online lobbies. It also meant people were way more likely to pick it up at family gatherings etc. - nobody gives a fuck about Lemmy Koopa, but if you can be Batman suddenly it looks like fun.
By DY_nasty Go To PostMaybe they'll stop ruining Metroid now.
;_;
I'm convinced they don't even know how any more. They're the only developers in the world who can't make a Metroidvania.

Hold up now - that is far from definitive. 3D World vs. Galaxy 2 has become the most contentious Nintendo-based debate online the past few years. I have both on the Wii U and come down firmly on the side of 3D World. That running-around-on-spheres-with-a-wiimote+nunchuk stuff can take a hike. 3D World has some really great set pieces, a fantastic late game, and having 5 unique characters gives the game so much replayability, so many different ways to play those levels. Also, Luigi jumps >*
I thought 3D World belonged in the conversation with both Galaxy games.
I think the quality is just as high but it comes down to taste. It's more traditional and straightforward than either Galaxy.

By IGNNintendo has revealed the differences between the Switch and Wii U versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
In a statement provided to IGN, Nintendo explained the following “key facts” about each version:
- Both launch on the same day, March 3.
- Both have a frame rate of 30fps.
- Both versions of the game offer the same content.
- On a TV, the Nintendo Switch version of the game renders in 900p while the Wii U version renders in 720p.
- The Nintendo Switch version has higher-quality environmental sounds. As a result, the sound of steps, water, grass, etc. are more realistic and enhance the game’s Open-Air feel.
- The physical copy of the Wii U version will require 3GB of available memory on the Wii U system or an external drive.
- Some icons, such as onscreen buttons, differ between the two versions.
- A Special Edition and Master Edition of the Wii U version are not available.

Should I just buy a Wii U on the cheap and play all the games I have missed out on it. Then wait until the switch has more games?

Not a bad decision imo.
How much can you get the wii u for tho?

By livefromkyoto Go To PostHonestly, just find a Wii U, get Zelda + Mario 3D World. Pay half as much for a pro controller. Play Mario Kart, Smash and Splatoon online for free.
Then get Bayonetta 2 and laugh while Switch owners are waiting for Skyrim.
.
Both have a frame rate of 30fps.
loool not even at least 60fps for the switch
truly no point in getting a switch until Mario launches
I'll sell my Wii u, pro controller and all the games that matter to a fellow slaenter if anyone is interested. Gotta get that switch money son.
Also 3d world is better than galaxy 2 just because it has difficult platforming instead of difficult Wii mote mini games. Low key 3d land is better than either.

By Smokey Go To PostHow muchLike 300, thats with like 18 games, a pro controller two remotes and a nunchuck. Unless I can get better on craigslist.
thought of getting a wii u for the new zelda until I found out it runs at 720p
might as well release a 3DS version wtf

You wouldn't buy a iPhone 4 or galaxy s4 in 2017 now would you. They both make phone calls right
