By Xpike Go To PostNo that had the whole "exercise on your own home" thing, 12 switch has a "pretend your controller is a sandwich" appealIt’s the same kind of minigames as Wario Ware, just with a new branding innit.
By reilo Go To PostYou're showing me 3DS games. Where were those on the Wii or Wii U?
Wii-U has an exclusive SMT game called Tokyo Mirage Sessions, as an example of a Persona surrogate on the platform.
It was the first console SMT game since the PS2 era and reviewed really well.
And like someone else mentioned, Wii had Tales of Graces initially as an exclusive that was later ported to PS3. It also was the initial launch platform for Dragon Quest X in Japan.
For fighting games Wii-U had Tekken Tag Tournament 2 around launch before any other platform IIRC.
So I mean if you want examples, there's quite a few. These games just tend to eventually move towards Sony platforms because.....that's where the audience is.
By reilo Go To PostYou're showing me 3DS games. Where were those on the Wii or Wii U? How is this hard to understand? Plus, Street Fighter 2 and Tales of the Abyss and Persona Q? Come the fuck on.
Read your questions again. Those were literal answers to them.
They can't get SFV because Sony has a console exclusivity deal, and Capcom doesn't have the bandwidth right now to make them a AAA SF Alpha or whatever. Tales of Berseria came out when Nintendo was supply-constraining Wii U in anticipation of Switch and everybody had moved on. And I have no idea why you're dismissing the exclusive Persona game Atlus made for them. I guarantee they were happier getting that than Persona Dancing All Night, which was announced at the same event.
People have this idea in the West that handhelds are some extraneous thing that don't count. But 3DS is Nintendo's main console. 3DS is Japan's main console. That's why these things are on there, it's not some kind of cop-out listing 3DS games when you're asking about Japanese 3rd parties.
But beyond that, Nintendo did all the things you're asking for, they just didn't pick the exact same franchises you did.
Instead of Street Fighter, they went after Tekken:
Instead of Persona, they essentially have exclusivity over its parent series in Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei:
And they don't care about a fading series like Tales because they went hard after something that matters way more in Monster Hunter and won a generation because of it:
In Switch they're about to have the console with Pokemon, Splatoon, Mario Kart, Minecraft and Dragon Quest. If Monster Hunter and Level 5 show up again, it's over in Japan. That's every franchise that matters outside Final Fantasy.
By Xpike Go To PostMon hun is a system seller yeah but the 3ds' competition was the Vita lol
I think the main reason you can say lol Vita is precisely because they lost Monster Hunter this gen. That and Sony were in a bad financial spot and looking to trim all the fat in their company, and thought gaming portables were a lost cause in the West so they bailed early. But even then, the PS4 only passed the Vita in Japan like last week.
The Switch dock is basically just a cable management tool.
That costs $90.

Yeah I'd be cool with 300 if all the accessories weren't so egregiously overpriced and abundant. I think that's the biggest problem with the system.
The fact that people are talking and arguing about which SF2 version is coming to the Switch is #triggering me to no end.
Are you fucking serious with this.

By Moris Go To PostDragon ball xenoverse 2 has a title image, why did they just use standard Word font for it
Skyrim not being a launch title is hilarious, no one is buying a Switch for Skyrim, but still.
I feel sick
Zelda at launch, Splatoon in summer Mario over the Holiday's. Their audience seems pretty happy with the lineup this year
It's a completely new version. Which is hilarious but hey.

That Mario title better make this fourth quarter or they're really going to take a bath against Scorpio and a cheaper PS4 Pro.
Wii U apparently did decent last holiday but that might be everyone scooping up the systems while they can and at a reduced price. They're back up to premium levels now because they're getting rare.
I remember when Street Fighter II came out on the SNES and thinking it was the most amazing thing in my ten year old life at the time. No longer did I have to skip school and go feed quarters into the machine at the bowling alley.
Five generations later and that all seems like a dream. It's been down hill since regarding third parties (outside of their handhelds) and that's the fucking truth.

By KingGondo Go To PostWhat games did you get?
Getting 3D world, Tropical Freeze to start. Scooping up these used games for the low is kinda nice.
Those are both great.
If you want a change of pace I really liked Pikmin 3 as well. The touchscreen gamepad is the perfect interface for that series.
Mario Kart 8 is a must as well. Best game in the series imo and that's before you consider the amazing DLC.

Tropical freeze is awesome. 3D world is a step down from galaxy but still good. Don't get paper mario it's trash. Smash and Mario Kart are millions times better than the Wii ones. Xenoblade is not good. Pikmin is good and Mario Maker is a great game help back by Nintendo's ineptitude (although I think I read somewhere online search and all that was better now)
MK8 Pikmin 3 and Smash are on a short list to be bought after I'm done with 3D world and Tropical Freeze.
Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Splatoon, Twilight Princess/Winder Waker HD and Woolly World are on there too....and thats about it for the WiiU for me lol, but for $200 I think I did alright.

By GQman2121 Go To PostSo the system comes with a Grip Con but it's description is different than the Grip Con charge.Hahahahahaha I fucking knew something was fishy with this description this morning.
What do you suppose the battery life is on the Joy Con's?
So it's now confirmed that the Joycon grip that the system ships with doesn't in fact offer a charge feature for the two Joycon pieces. It's just a slab of plastic.
The charging grip con is the one pictured above. It has a usb-c port on the top.
So what this means is you either have to buy this thing and ignore the pack in one, or buy the Pro controller ($70) or two additional Joycons ($80) if you want to play the system at home for more than 4-5 hours while they recharge via the dock.
The pricing breakdown for the system ala carte is really amazing.
$90 for the dock; $80 for the Joycon set. So that means the actual system is $120? It's amazing.
this was a disaster. Like I am a low key fanboy POS and even I can spin this shit.
still bought one like the little ho I am tho.
But yeah they botched this super hard for those outside of my sick little box...there is NO reason to get this thing in March unless you don't have a Wii U and want Zelda badly..and even then.

One of my biggest gripes with Nintendo post GameCube was all the damn accessories. I had so much clutter from the Wii; the sensor bar, the nunchucks, the analog adaptors, the charging station for the wii motes, the pro controller.
They really did everything they possibly could to hit that 299$ mark.
They really did everything they possibly could to hit that 299$ mark.
Also, I misspoke there about the Joycon battery life. 4-5 hours is actually unconfirmed. No one knows how long they last on a full charge.
They're asking but Nintendo ain't saying.
I would assume you should just budget for that Pro controller...

By butt Go To PostI think I might Craigslist a wiiu for zelda and call it good. Avenge my death.
Nintendo still has refurbs on eBay for $200 fyi.
By p s y Go To PostI could've sworn the Wii U was $99That's what it's worth, but not what it sells for.
What the fuck
It's becoming rather apparent that Nintendo have had no idea what they're doing in terms of designing enticing console hardware since the SNES.
Got lucky with the Wii and are still desperately trying to cling on to its wave of (now distant) fame, despite the massive failure of the U.
I absolutely love their own library of games but just can't wrap my head around their business model or how they think as a company.
Honestly see zero reason to buy into this.

Shit trading in a Wii U for a Switch right preorder now gets you $170 which is a pretty good deal considering the thing has been a dead console for more than a year at the point.
Edit: and now I am rethinking all my definitive "no way I am getting at launch" since if I trade in my system and my games I will have more than enough for a switch and Zelda with my credit I already have there.

By Francis Go To PostIt's becoming rather apparent that Nintendo have had no idea what they're doingI've arrived at the conclusion that, at some point, they became conscious of how aloof they are, but decided to persist in their apparent unawareness for brand consistency.

There's 40 days between now and launch. There are more details to come.

Nintendo fanboy is the kind of fanboy to say 'do i get a discount to rebuy my virtual console shit'
not 'why the fuck doesnt it just transfer over? you expect me to pay for your online service when you still haven't even mastered basic account systems fuckboy?'

imma get 3. i know it's not acceptable for the masses, would never defend it but i really don't give a shit myself.
these 3 games a year are so worth it to me. video games as a hobby is cheap anyway.
and thanks to y'all fucking up in 2016, 300 dollars/euros is like two lunches at mcdonalds over here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
thanks obama.

Don't look at me, I'm not buying one. It's just that you guys are being just a smidge over the top with the negativity, and I seek balance in the force.
Everybody who wants this thing for Zelda should just get it on Wii U instead. As per Aonuma the only differences in performance on Switch are a resolution bump from 720p to 900p, and faster loading because it's pulling off a cart.
$452 CAD just for that and the privilege of re-unlocking everything in Mario Kart 8? Nuh-uh.
