I said "most" and I gave my rationale.
I want a healthy, intellectually vigorous Republican Party instead of what we have now.

I still don't think it's most. Other than the trumpicans the electorate gets a pass. It should be an interesting piece about how the GOP went from Anti to Pro russia within it's ranks in a matter of one election cycle though.
Also in the land of happiness and faeries:

President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law with the goal of “insurance for everybody,” while also vowing to force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices in Medicare and Medicaid.
I would love to see how everyone gets insured while slashing taxes and getting rid of the mandate. It is interesting he's attacking big pharma. Still no details though. Just happy thoughts.
Off topic I know, but I just realized after watching SportsCenter all the happy pieces with Obama doing NBA/NCAA brackets and covering sports events is going to be over in a week. He'll be gone by the time the NFL crowns a champ...
Can you imagine Trump meeting and greeting NBA players? Holy crap not sure any will show up at the White House (fuck you Tom Brady).

I believe some players have already said they wouldn't go? Or was that just Jalen Rose saying they would?

"Traitors of the country" would seem to imply the Russian / Putin angle and I'm not sure what standard republican boot straps economics / healthcare has to do with that.
They'll be remembered as enablers of traitors at the very least.
Those who continue to make excuses for Trump as his agenda comes into focus will be treated harshly by history, and justifiably so.

Now of course you look at the Warriors and the Cavs and there are at least 2 guys on each team that said they wouldn't go, but media will focus on the star players. I could see LeBron doing a 180 and going, same with JR Smith.
Golden State? Dray would stay home. Outside of that I could see Durant and Steph going. Klay too, since his parents would ground him and not give him his allowance.

His approval rating is low and is getting lower due to his cabinet picks and all this other crap. I think a lot of people clung onto their hate for the media so they could handwave away the issues their teams candidate had. I would expect a lot more people on the right to continue to drop support if this Russia thing pans out the way liberals hope it does.
I think the largest takeaway from this election in the upcoming years will be how the media got played by a conman and how the electorate was swayed by a narrative. Clinton's email controversy and her foundation were the big scandal, but for Trump there was a new one each week it seemed and the media didn't focus on anything specific for very long. We're coming out the other end of this election cycle and "fake news" is actually a thing.

His Dad's a giant republican too.

It was always ridiculous too. Bush spent half his presidency chilling at his ranch.
People in Washington couldn't even reach him the month before 9/11.

I'm just trying to get through the weekend without the whole city getting shut down on some boston marathon shit
No way in hell am I watching.

No sympathy for them. One woman has Obamacare with cancer and still hates the term Obamacare. So much economic anxiety.

the nato thing is still kinda dumb, especially considering we've been gradually stepping away since obama's second term anyways *shrug*
maybe lupe will grace us again

Again, I keep coming back to the basic question: why?
We're upending every stable alliance that has been painstakingly achieved since World War II. And not once has Trump or any of his surrogates offered a coherent explanation.
All we get is praise of Putin and Russia and insults or provocation of China, Germany, and our Eastern European allies. And for what? What is the goal?

Here's the CBO report on what would happen if a partial repeal of the ACA happened:
https://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/115th-congress-2017-2018/reports/52371-coverageandpremiums.pdf
Paul Ryan and the other idiots responded to this report saying that the CBO didn't take the GOP's replacement into account... which is, ugh, yea, that plan, you know, that one, with all the details, and things and all that.
The number of people who are uninsured would
increase by 18 million in the first new plan year
following enactment of the bill. Later, after the
elimination of the ACA’s expansion of Medicaid
eligibility and of subsidies for insurance purchased
through the ACA marketplaces, that number would
increase to 27 million, and then to 32 million in
2026.
Premiums in the nongroup market (for individual
policies purchased through the marketplaces or
directly from insurers) would increase by 20 percent to
25 percent—relative to projections under current
law—in the first new plan year following enactment.
The increase would reach about 50 percent in the year
following the elimination of the Medicaid expansion
and the marketplace subsidies, and premiums would
about double by 2026.

By reilo Go To PostBecause they are idiots.I'm curious about how much of it is ideology (Bannon and Flynn's crazed white Christian clash of civilizations bullshit) and how much is simple expediency (corruption or Trump's fear of being cucked by Putin).
It's just so, so stupid though. We're favoring a petrodictatorship that doesn't even have a top 10 GDP over China, Germany, France, and our NATO allies. We're also playing with some serious shit by promising to put our embassy in Jerusalem, etc.

I don't even care if I'm a vindictive shit stain for thinking this, but the assholes who voted Trump while benefiting from Obamacare (the video I posted) are dragging all of the other people down with them who voted to keep the plan. People on this board and I'm sure people in everyone's life will experience some negative consequences from this repeal. If you voted Trump while having Obamacare I hope you suffer ten fold compared to those who voted Clinton.
The only argument I could buy from those voters is that they sincerely thought Trump would replace it with something better, but, ugh... Yea. Good luck with that.
By blackace Go To PostKeep that hate to yourself.
I won't be the only person watching the inauguration.
By reilo Go To PostThe only argument I could buy from those voters is that they sincerely thought Trump would replace it with something better, but, ugh… Yea. Good luck with that.
Stupidity isn't an excuse IMO. The GOP has had years to come up with a replacement and anyone who has paid any attention at all would know they have none. If you paid even just a teeny weeny but more attention (I mean you probably should considering it's your healthcare and life at stake here) then you would know that the problems with the ACA could be fixed and that the mandate was necessary. These people want lower taxes, no mandate and cheap healthcare for everyone.
Also the funny thing with that CBO report is the "if" obamacre is repealed without replacement. The house and senate have already voted to gut the program and force it's collapse, they're just waiting for Friday (I mean Monday since he's taking a couple days off) for him to sign.
Probably will be at the Women's March too.
Hoping the, "I went through that, so you don't have to go through that" parts of black twitter hold it down. I'll catch any updates via the news. Fuck watching the actual inauguration though.

I've read history, bub. Lincoln wasn't a monster considering his times, but he also rushed to defend and enshrine the institution of slavery when it looked like the union was about to break up, and never considered black people equal to whites.
Like come on, MLK day was literally yesterday.
Like come on, MLK day was literally yesterday.
Lincoln was a great man but he was indeed just a man. He was a pragmatist but there is a lot to be said for those who make wise, brave choices during tumultuous times.
The woman who was gonna sue Trump before the election for sexual assault is now suing him for defamation since he called her a liar publicly. She has a poligraph that she passed already as well. Which is admissible in a civil case. In other words, Trump is about to settle out of court for millions again to make this go away.
