Violent repression against Mapuches. They are protesting against the government, who is removing them from their lands. Which are –apparently– owned by Benetton.

Aside from that, 10 mapuches were detained, and have been cruelty treated. Many of them being women.
The governor of Chubut province is calling them a terrorist group.

The Italian fashion brand Benetton is well known for it's 'provocative' promotion campaigns that appear to be socially critical. But the internationally operating company is itself involved in dirty deals.
In south Argentina, Benetton has bought almost one million hectare of land. The local population, mostly Mapuche indigenous people, are forcefully removed from this area. They are calling for solidarity and action against Benetton.

I have to say that I still think this won't result in much that's "provable" but, this has been interesting and will taint his presidency. Which is a change from depressing. This plus ruining healthcare might get us back some house seats. If they go after SS or Medicare sky is the limit

However, say security sources, Mr Steele became increasingly frustrated that the FBI was failing to take action on the intelligence from others as well as him. He came to believe there was a cover-up, that a cabal within the Bureau blocked a thorough inquiry into Mr Trump, focusing instead on the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

This is the kind of overt racism you expect from a third world leader running for reelection, not the incoming president of the United States. Sad.
By GQman2121 Go To PostUSA has been turning into a third world country for some time.

I live in John Lewis' district.
And Trump is at least part right, there are areas of Lewis' district that are complete fucking shitholes although it also includes Decatur, Midtown, Buckhead, and West Atlanta that lift things up on the good end. I don't think it was a racially motivated comment, rather than one to insinuate that Lewis was terrible at doing his job.
John Lewis' comments turned this up to 11, and he shouldn't have made them. It's exactly what Putin wanted out of this whole thing - interfere just enough to divide us even MORE internally, drive wedges in between us and our allies. And now John Lewis has picked up the banner for the other side. No matter who wins this battle, Trump stains or those who want to see him impeached/jailed/or worse, nobody wins but Putin. He's played us all and there's no way he doesn't win and America loses.
Trump won't do it, but whoever is President after him in 2020 needs to seriously look at cutting off our relationship with Russia (there is no repairing from this), isolating them from the Western World as much as we can, and threaten them swift retaliation for any fucking bullshit. Our only relationship with them should be at the end of a gun. They want the Cold War back? Let's give it to them.

Trump isn't right at all.
Just because John Lewis' district includes poor areas doesn't mean he can't criticize the president. And based on what we know about Trump's election, loyalties, and unwillingness to be forthright with the American public I think his comments are completely fair.
The way to fight against Trump is not to perpetuate the appearance of unity. It's to fight back. John Lewis of all people knows how to fight against people like Trump.

He's not just "fighting back', he's saying the American president committed high treason to win an election with the help of one of our worst enemies.

This happens all around the globe, for almost centuries. You guys will have to learn how to live with it.
If yall don't get off this board and go protest next Friday...
Make signs now get your shit together.

Anyone who believes Trump knows anything about Lewis, his district or anyone that lives within it is kidding themselves.
If you mention Selma to Trump he's likely to associate the name with The Flintstones.

Not just the counter ops and propaganda, but the demagoguery he spewed on the campaign trail.
Governance in a democracy is based on consent, not power.

Lol no
By Fenderputty Go To PostLol noI mean, America intervenes in other countries' elections all the time, sometimes in a more overt manner.
So Trump may actually regret his big mouth because he ran ....not walk mind you.....ran to go and get a photo up with Steve Harvey and Ben Carson...... and you know what the dumbest shit of that sentence was Steve Harvey saying he will work with Ben Carson to bring positive change in the inner city...... WTF is happening brehs..... is HUD seems to be the pseudo trump agency for black people stuff
By Kibner Go To PostI mean, America intervenes in other countries' elections all the time, sometimes in a more overt manner.
Learning to live with people meddling in our elections doesnt have to happen. We can and should retaliate and make example of counties that try.
Please note that I don't think we should meddle in other people's elections.

If your government has been doing it for so long, with plenty of support of a huge part of the american people and without any cohesion from voters. It was just a matter of time before it got back to yourselves.
Truth is, most elections now days have huge interests in other countries. Now with social media is even easier to interfere, but let's not pretend the politicians aren't straightforward lying too on campaigns. We are far from being in real democratic elections. We just end up electing the candidate with better media coverage, because most people don't know how to vote with intelligence. Because they have been lied to.
The fact that this is the first time it has happened in USA, from an outside force at least, could be troubling to you all but it most likely will become the norm and not just one case scenario. You're just catching up to the rest of the world.

Trump's visit to the Smithsonian African American museum canceled due to "scheduling."
Also, there are rumblings that they're going to try to move the White House press corps to another building and bigger area. Probably trying to stuff press briefings with lackeys who will clap at Spicer's propaganda.

So Trump has no berated Merkel and threatened a 35% import tax on BMWs, but on the flipside he's also discussing lifting sanctions on Russia under the right conditions.
So, yeaaaaaa.
So, yeaaaaaa.
The big question is: why? Why the hell would we bend over for Russia?
It makes no sense from a strategic perspective for the US to shred every alliance we've held since WWII.

Rising income inequality has eroded the ability for American children to grow up to earn more than their parents, according to a new study from a team of researchers that could carry deep implications for President-elect Donald Trump's policy agenda.https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/12/08/american-dream-collapsing-for-young-americans-study-says-finding-plunging-odds-that-children-earn-more-than-their-parents
The research from a group led by Stanford's Raj Chetty, and also including economists and sociologists from Harvard and the University of California at Berkeley, estimates that only half the children born in the 1980s grew up to earn more than their parents did, after adjusting for inflation. That's a drop from 92 percent of children born in 1940.

We'll see about that. I don't think the rest of the Republican Party is ready to surrender to Trump on Russia.
Also lol the tired old "All Republicans are traitors" bs. If I wanted that level of expert analysis I can just go read the poligaf threads on GAF with one of my alts.
Maybe its time for another hiatus from this thread.
