Obama getting paid by financial institutions after being soft as fuck on them as a President is ethically bad. Doesn't mean he's a bad President or completely dead to the party by any means, but his record in regards to this issue is pretty damned clear at this point. A spade is a spade.
This is disgusting.
By Chicago TribuneWalker said the only time he remembers a governor considering removing a county official from office was when former Gov. Jim Doyle sought the removal of Calumet County District Attorney Kenneth Kratz, who sent sexually explicit texts to a domestic violence victim whose case he was prosecuting in 2010. Kratz resigned."You see, that guy resigned over sexting, whereas the Honorable Freedom Warrior Sheriff Clarke's office only denied a guy water for a week. Apples and oranges."
"The only time it was considered, ultimately that individual pulled out and it was because of sexting, so it was a much different situation," Walker said.
By Sheriff Clarke"I have nearly 1000 inmates. I don't know all their names but is this the guy who was in custody for shooting up the Potawatomi Casino causing one man to be hit by gunfire while in possession of a firearm by a career convicted felon?" Clarke said. "The media never reports that in stories about him. If that is him, then at least I know who you are talking about."Seems to me that Clarke is the one who should be behind bars.
According to a Minnesota dude I follow on twitter, Clarke has a long and detailed history of being a shitty person abusing the power of his position and not being punished for it.
Yeah. To his admirers, his brutal treatment of prisoners is a feature, not a bug.
It's one thing for him to be awful. But for someone like the governor of the state to abdicate his responsibility when we're talking about matters of life and death is very depressing.

Even if alternate realities exist, I doubt there is one in which Scott Walker isn't a giant piece of shit.

As a recently naturalized citizen this case scares the crap out of me.
We can argue whether her omission is "immaterial" or not and I'm inclined to say no, but the DOJ's position that any omission is grounds for denaturalization is terrifying

Didn't seem like the justices were down with that argument.

Probably was reminded that Canadians aren't as crazy as Americans.Dude was pro-business and a TV character but apart from that he's not anythng like Trump, since for one O'Leary is half-Lebanese and constantly espouses his love of immigration.
With that said - he is a clown who doesn't speak French (need to speak French to be party leader since you can't win without at least something in Quebec) but he played the CPC voters and members for chumps lol. So, win-win in the end.

By Fenderputty Go To PostI hope you guys follow through and send a big FU to coal country. That would be nice. All indications so far from the Feds are they plan to retaliate hard and may even escalate the situation. Litigation is definitely coming which Canada has won 4/4 cases in the past when they took it to the WTO. It is about to be 5/5 though these things take time.
My province of Ontario closed its last coal plant in 2014 and there's less than a dozen in operation in the entire country (mostly in Alberta and Saskatchewan). They make up such a tiny amount of our energy output, fuck coal.

He was definitely Trump Lite.™ Even in his resignation he was talking about how he was the guy to bring in millennials because "they all grew up with me on TV." I had never heard of this guy until he ran.
But it looks like they're going to run libertarian french Mitt Romney instead. Trudeau re-elected already confirmed. I had hoped O'Toole would get it, he seemed sane.

The man is a walking Get Out of White Guilt Free card, you think those just grow on trees? That's not the kind of guy you toss in the bushes just because he gets a little bit Dirty Harry. I'm legit shocked he doesn't have a cabinet position yet, maybe he's too smart to jump into that shark pool right now.

Ok so yesterday it's discovered that we're installing our missile defense system in SK. This is something china didn't like. It's an escalation. Then today Trump says major major conflict is possible it that he also admires Kim like seconds later. Then this:
It's as if... the EU is a collective of multiple nations that has higher bargaining power together than separately.

Plus Elizabeth Warren's dissenting opinion on Obama giving speeches for $$$, let alone the anti-Wall Street Bernie Bros, plus the two posts above this one, is why DEMS have shown no signs of recovering from the crushing losses in the fall.
Can't figure out WTF they want.
Meanwhile, #45 stans are *still* dragging Obama and Hillary.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostIf zuk had better charisma i'd be hypedWhy? What about him makes you think he'd make a good political leader?
By Haramism Go To Postit's nice when a rich man spends some time with the poors.
I wouldn't be thrilled, but I wouldn't be upset either. Like Phaze said, he's not charismatic. I personally think the left demonizes money too much though. Look at the shit Obama got for cashing out on a speech. The Dem platform shouldn't be, "making stupid money is bad". It should be, "making stupid money without proper redistribution is bad". If that speech was taxed at 60%, why would he need to donate the money? Charity is an ineffectual way to spend resources if the goal is making an impact on social and economic parity.
What's Zuk's message? What are his ideals? He should be at the forefront of understanding how automation will affect labor moving forward, what are his thoughts on combating this?
Basically ... I'm cautiously waiting to make a final decision. I would love to see Franken on a ticket.
By KingGondo Go To PostWhy? What about him makes you think he'd make a good political leader?
Immune from being called a politician. Immune from being called a wall street tool. More successful than Trump wealth and business wise. He could literally fund his entire campaign without asking for a single donation.
Those are very strong boxes he's checking for an anti trump candidate. Obviously I don't know his thoughts on policy but this isn't an ordinary election. Trump has to be stopped at all costs. Zuck is held to a much lower started in the face of these circumstances.
His charisma is awful though. If he grew a beard, spent a year in the weight room and worked very hard on public speaking in combination with what he's doing now, he'd have a shot. But he needs to work on his image more than experience. Nobody cares about experience. He has to mold himself into the image of a leader.
I dunno man. It would be cool if the Dems could get their shit together (they won't) and develop a spine and aggressively lobby for progressive causes instead of being the "reasonable alternative" to the lunacy of the Republicans. Build up some excitement from the grassroots and you'd see a lot more people running for lower offices with some political potential. That's how you built up a strong bench for the future.
People weren't excited to vote for Hillary, and they wouldn't be excited to vote for Mark Zuckerberg.
I also don't think he can distance himself enough from the obscene farce that is Silicon Valley for me to ever want to vote for him.

It's depressing these boxes are important to check off. None of them makes someone a good candidate for pres. None a fucking one. They're just hot button topics because anti establishment rhetoric has taken over the far left and right wings of the party. It's absolute bullshit.
One needs look no further than Pelosi. The career dem politician who's experience and skill made her successful in whipping up votes for the ACA as well as screwing Ryan's plan yesterday to push the AHCA vote without CBO scoring.
Give me experience, intelligence and good policy. If Dems can't rally behind that we deserve Trump.

Zuckerberg's only qualification is that he's famous and milquetoast. The fact that he's super rich is a bonus for some people too because America.
I *want* a fucking politician running. It's a profession and not some fucking reality show popularity contest. You have to know which levers to pull and what your opponents' weak spots are, not post to Facebook about how "my trip to flyover country really helped me understand the real America."
