Spicey saying on TV that the AHCA vote is still tonight while house leaks saying it's moved until tomorrow. They have until April 15th to pass bills via reconciliation. The goal was to do both Healthcare and Budgets via reconciliation. The budget and tax plans require the "savings" from the AHCA though. The HFC stalling this is fucking amazing. If they blow this due to their own incompetence and Trump can't whip the extreme ends of his party in line, they will accomplish nothing by the 2018 election. Any bills they try and pass after the reconciliation period can be filibustered by Senate Dems, and the chances a deal is made next year between the internal factions of the GOP during the midterms is even less likely.
Word is Trump is only offering the EHBs up to the FC and neither are budging lol. Even if a good portion of the HFC vote for the AHCA, there's not word that some moderate reps are out.

βOne tragedy of all of this is that ObamaCare was put into place by all Democrats and now Republicans, in trying our best to alleviate the tragedy and save the country are going to have to take a lot of the punishment,β
The punishment is going to come from you literally killing people and aiding the loss of their homes. You don't face punishment for alleviating a tragedy and saving the country.
Trump was at some event today saying "the house will vote to repeal the disaster of Obamacare today" while at the same time the house postponed Ryan's presser and the vote. lmao
That picture. lmao. Immortan Trumpicana yelling, "sad" as he drives this country downhill. If you're quiet, you can hear Paul Ryan saying, " plz witness me" while his healthcare baby gets tossed with the bath water.
I just don't see it working. Like a normal politician would of at least gave themselves until Monday or Tuesday in order to bribe, conjole, and strong arm people.
He wants to put it to a vote, but your going to get Repubs going back to their constituents saying "I stood up to special interest and Trump because I wanted to give you the change we promised and we will in the future. I didn't compromise".

Like this motherfucker has any idea how to drive a car. Does he even have a valid driver's license?
Trump is also being reported to regret backing the bill despite very clearly not understanding much of what its made up of.
It's all very embarrassing.
By reilo Go To PostHe's also thrown Ryan under the bus:
wrong tweet reilo but this hur fire
Random, but Is it a thing at the NYT where they have to spell out someone's entire name, including middle initial? Always jumps out at me.

Elect a 74 year old celebrity to a 24/7 job brehs
How to control the damage?
Recent events demonstrate the rich, healthy ideological diversity of the GOP and the unifying commitment to get healthcare (to retrieve civilisation from the pit of Obamacare) right?
President Trump is concerned at the lack of consensus/progress, and will be personally much more involved as we move forward?
The media have sabotaged this legislative effort. It's criminal?

Gabriel Sherman wrote a piece this morning about how the defeat of the bill will be a boon to Bannon. This will allow them to push for Ryan to step down and put forward a Speaker that aligns with his ethnonationalist worldview. This would supposedly include healthcare reform that is more "pure" or whatever.
The big question to me: what would Bannoncare even look like? And how can any bill pass even a GOP-controlled congress when they're so tied into knots by their own amoral ideology?

It's probably not a good thing when schadenfreude is the most positive emotion you can get from your political system.
nothing on the front page of r the donald at all related to health care
last time I visited before the election they were pretty clearly rabid republicans with some focus on the issues, but they've gone completely beyond troll levels now into something...other

Healthcare ... 2 years away from being 2 years away. It's toast this year. Next year is doubtful since it's an election year. If Dems can retake the house in 2018 he will literally get nothing done between now and 2020.
Their tax bill was requiring the savings from this healthcare too. It needs to be revenue neutral to go through reconciliation IIRC. The tax cuts on the rich depended on Medicaid becoming a block grant system. The CBO rated the bill horribly from the standpoint that everyone is going to lose coverage but the AHCA is cheaper. Without the passing of this bill their whole plans are fucked and they'll likely have to deal with the budget and such through normal channel were Dems have filibuster powers.

Not by this bill, but I don't think Obamacare surviving was a given.
By Wedward Go To PostNot by this bill, but I don't think Obamacare surviving was a given.I always believed from the start they weren't going to succeed in repealing it. It is political suicide to take away an entitlement especially one that 20 million are directly helped by and millions more benefit indirectly. The American people may not know who gave them their healthcare, but they would definitely have known who took it away from them.
If they intentionally let it fail, they will pay the price by virtue of the GOP being the governing party.

This is nothing more than politics as usual where everyone is looking out for themselves aka. 2018. Those townhall meetings gave all these house pussies cold feet.

The Freedom Caucus is an anomaly. They wanted more cuts.
The blame shifting to Democrats is hilarious and further embarrassing for Trump. Does he even math?
And the fact that he suffered a complete loss to the FC isn't a secret to anyone on either side. They can spin all they want, and that's what all Republicans will do, but nobody is going to forget the game of chicken that Trump played and lost, nor all those threats that ultimately turned out to be NOTHING.
The FC right now is like--damn, he didn't even blame us lol. Complete victory.
