By KingGondo Go To PostHe won't need to plea for immunity because there won't be charges.
Yeah they already said as much
Also this country is full of morons.
That press conference was the worst thing I have seen in my entire life, and I have seen Bela Lugosi Meets A Brooklyn Gorilla.
Here he is telling a reporter (Baltimore's April Ryan) to step up a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus if she wants him to meet with them. He thinks they're great!
That's kind of not her role in all of this. She just reports what happens. You know, the news.

This was the best part for me. Incredible kids, well, not all of them.
Lol fuck those kids, I'm I right folks?
PBS News Hour is basically just re-running the presser and letting him hang himself right now for those who may have missed it. He's so far out of his depth it's amazing the room wasn't giggling the entire time.
It finally hit me while watching the press conference. That guy is the president of USA. A country actually chose him as their president. Fucking hell
America, circa 2006: "I can't believe we elected GWB, twice, as President"
Also, America: "Hold my beer"

Pretty much how I feel.
It took Bush six years to come after people's Medicare, though, and with Ryan at the helm of the House, we're looking at them trying that within only a few weeks of the Trump presidency. And you think he's unpopular now!
Trump to Harward: I want you to work with me.
Harward: Okay, just fire the Fox News pundits you hired to be in major positions.
Trump: I can't do that.
How Trump a real person.

Christ alive.
I consider the people around me to be the alt-left. They are harmless.
Just watching him makes me cringe... Not even talking about the lies and the childish pouting.. But the little things, like how he stands. It's sad to see someone act as unpresidential as he does..
By EldritchTrapStar Go To PostWtf does alt left even mean?
I don't even know really. Just here there are some chaotic liberal types which don't make any sense. I toss them in that category, because why not.
I would call someone like Bill Maher or Sam Harris alt-left. Like flirting with seriously deranged bigoted bullshit way too often for comfort.
Politics in America is an open circle, anyways. The far left and the far right basically meet up in the middle somewhere.
(It's the marijuana, really.)

eh, I think his whole shtick is how ~brave~ he is for engaging with the fringes, but he's devolved into a coward and an asshole who refuses to take accountability for his show/beliefs/etc.
I've been souring on him for years. This Milo bullshit was definitely a convenient final straw, though.
Maybe not an idiot or even an alt-left. Just... dull.

People on the left generally don't buy into thsoe principals, so I wouldn't push him farther out in that direction due to it.
This reads like a lateral pass from white supremacists/neo-nazis/racists/etc... to the left. They re-brand with a cute term, then toss liberals a version of the label. In confusion, liberals run to the wrong goal and start scoring points for the opposing team.
Considering he's letting Milo onto his show, even this is questionable.
By Sanjuro Go To PostI wouldn't call Maher one. He is often questionable, but not an idiot.

I think there is definitely a subset of the left that has an irrational hatred of GMOs. Less so vaccines.
Nah the fringes of American politics definitley have a lot of overlap. I joke about Marijuana, but the drug war is really one of the key areas. Same with an isolationist foreign policy. And that's before you even dip into the thinly veiled bigotry of some fringe-y left with Harris, Maher, etc. Or the hardcore Russia apologism the Intercept/TYT/Glenn Greenwald have been dipping into.
But that's how it is with all fringes. That's why they're fringe-y. The fringe left doesn't represent the mainstream.
We have a literal white nationalist as our president. So it's safe to say the fringe-right is now mainstreamed.

I dunno if Milo on his show is the best example. Networks have already given him the time of day. He is going on a show with a very specific audience who are waiting for Maher to be a cunt to him.
Why do you think Maher is going to be cunt to him? He's always been quite generous to vile people like Coulter. If anything, I'm sure Maher sees himself in Milo. ~so provocative~
I forsee a Tammy/Trevor redux. Much "evisceration."

I don't disagree about the overlap. My contention is why use terms to describe the fringes of the left, that were specifically used to re-brand actual racists? Nobody was calling anyone alt anything until racists started doing it themselves. In my eyes, it's giving them the exact pass they were looking for. It's kind of like the, "both sides" argument in diet form and allows them to point fingers across the aisle. They don't need anymore help being normalized.
All Milo has to do is mention weed, liberal safe spaces, and Islam and he's in the clear. That guy doesn't give the slightest of a fuck about being "taken down a peg" and Maher sure as hell isn't the one to do it. LOL

Ah, good point. I don't use the term alt-right, I just go straight white nationalists. Which, itself, is a sanitized version of "white supremacist" and "nazi."
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/16/upshot/republican-health-proposal-would-redirect-money-from-poor-to-rich.html
The Republican plan would alter both of those programs, changing the winners and losers. It would substantially cut funding for states in providing free insurance to low-income adults through Medicaid. And it would change how tax credits are distributed by giving all Americans not covered through work a flat credit by age, regardless of income.
But the current system is set up to ensure that low and middle-income Americans can afford the cost of their premiums. The Republican plan would not do that, and would result in many more low-income people losing out on coverage if they couldn’t find the money to pay the gap between their fixed tax credit and the cost of a health plan.I'm shocked.

Maybe. I just don't think he brought him on to take him seriously.
Trump tweeted out immediately after Flynn's call that Putin's lack of retaliatory measures was "smart".
Of course Trump knew. Maybe they were still feeling invincible after winning the election.

Getting rid of the mandate while not getting rid of the preexisting conditions clause and pretending market forces will drive cost is a great way to make everybodies insurance go up, Including employer based plans. Getting rid of the Medicaid funding will ensure millions lose coverage. If this passes we retake the house in 2018 and the POTUS in 2020 alongside governorships.
The White House is saying this isn't true.
I guarantee you this memo is/was real. As real as the LGBTQ EO that never got signed. They float things like this to see how severe the public push back will be. When it's too bad even for them, they just retreat and say, fake news, we never planned to do this. The immigration task force is coming eventually.

How long until ethnic minorities or immigrants are required to have some sort of identifying mark, let's say, something like a badge? A yellow badge?

The Associated Press has an obligation to release the memo now. They have to. You can't let the administration leak this and then categorically deny it exists. Release the damn thing.

Or, the more insidious version...
Bannon floats unrealistically awful, vile plan. Press/public pushback. Revise with moderately vile plan. Crickets.
