I mean the US and Russia being friends is good for Japan, so it is not shocking..
Japan and Russia have never signed a peace treaty so whenever Russia flies into Japanese airspace it is super tense..

So Trumps Wall and immigration policy will be either watered down or cancelled outright and his economic policy right now, at least what he's told us so far, seems like it has a bunch of holes. Healthcare plan looks like at best it'll be a watered down, retitled obama care at best.
This administration might just be significantly more bark than bite at the end of the day.

They can still do an immense amount of damage through sheer incompetence.
Not to mention the regressive and dangerous fiscal policy that they'll almost certainly be able to push through congress. Deregulation, tax cuts, repeal of Dodd-Frank, and free reign for payday lenders and scam colleges.
They're also going to massively empower regressive forces on the state level. Freed from the shackles of Section 5 of the Votings Rights Act and with Jeff Sessions as AG, "voter fraud" will come to the forefront, some police departments will become increasingly militarized, and private prisons will see their stocks skyrocket.
Shit will get bad, but you're right that incompetence and arrogance will prevent them from doing maximum damage.

I'm still totally terrified of having an administration with Nazis like Sessions, Bannon and Miller having the President's ear and writing executive orders Trump signs without even reading. These people are going to try to do immense damage through things like voter suppression and rolling back social protections for minorities and LGBT.
Beating the Muslim ban was only step one in a process that still has some 200 weeks left.

Last night the house freedom caucus basically said they will vote against any repeal that isn't at the same level of the 2015 repeal. Which is basically kick everyone off their insurance now and ends all taxes mandates etc etc. Moderates and congressmen in red states that have accepted the medicare expansion obviously don't want this. So basically the extreme right still wants to watch everything burn. http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/319363-freedom-caucus-vows-to-oppose-weakening-obamacare-repeal
This will turn into an interesting internal fight in the GOP in my opinion. They're still pushing for a repeal as that's what they've ran on for 6 years, but if they're split on votes they won't pick up dems. I don't think it's good for the GOP to not do anything regarding Obamacare either. The plan needs fixing.
Obamacare doesn't survive without the mandate. They can't water it down, slap their name on it and expect it to survive. The costs are going up as is and insurers were starting to drop from the exchanges and they promised to make it better. Their replacement plans are all garbage too. Expansion of health savings accounts and tax credits on medical costs come end of year basically are only applicable to upper middle class people.
I think he'll get some stuff accomplished for this immigration ideas too. His first EO was terrible, but it could be reworked in such a way that it becomes legal while still accomplishing the same goals. The wall may be a fight with some border republicans but we shall see.
All republican economic policies have holes lol. They're all basically just "lower taxes, mostly on the rich, and watch things prosper". What will be interesting to watch is if the GOP fights Ryan on things like medicare vouchers and SS privatization etc etc.
I wouldn't be so sure that any immigration restriction that accomplishes what they want (reduced Muslim immigration) will be upheld. The Ninth Circuit showed that they will take Trump's previous statements seriously and I have a hard time picturing any future EOs that will satisfy both Trump's base and the courts.

Just make them more broad in scope. Don't give special preference to Christians. Don't fuck people that currently have Visas and maybe add in a couple countries that have actually exported terror like Egypt or something.

But we've yet to see such a heavy handed attempt to keep all production related to US businesses in the country. So yes, typical republican tax and regulation cuts, but we haven't seen bigger businesses put in this sort of predicament before. The big businesses who stroke the checks to his campaign are the ones who stand to be damaged by this.

It will be interesting to see what he does. He has to try and "bring jobs back" somehow and cutting taxes isn't going to do it. You are correct in that he'll probably be fought by the establishment if he tries to do tariffs and shit. That will be an interesting fight though. A lot of their base doesn't understand free trade deals. He's already backed out of the TTP, which establishment republicans wanted, and ran on NAFTA being garbage. So he's running counter to standard republican orthodoxy but his base don't give a shit. So far the establishment hasn't provided much pushback

Ooooh ... this is good. McCain's revenge lol
Found myself watching Obama speeches late last night. I honestly can't imagine Trump being capable of handling speaking at the funeral of the next mass shooting or cop fatality.
I mean, Obama singing Amazing Grace is some iconic shit that likely won't be topped in our lifetime.

It's still good press if you're a Dem. Makes the admin look like chumps trying to hawk items from the presidency. It riles dems up and suppresses moderate GOP turnout, which we'll need for 2018

I don't think ti's Dodd Frank. He just signed something removing regulations on mining gas etc.

I am beginning to think this too. Like, you actually have to know how government--particularly American federal bureaucracy--works to do actual damage.
We already saw Federal Courts say FU. Even Trump's SCOTUS nominee was disgusted by the Muslim ban. Radical conservatives might dominate 1/3 of government, but it's not broken....yet.
Happy that Spicer said America has been tough on Russia before news has hit about that cruise missile launch.
Now Trump has to own up, and if he doesnt, have cake on his face. Win-Win.

I guess Warren Harding and Andrew Jackson could be candidates for that honor?
I think the NY times is reporting that Trump knew about the DOJ report for 11 or so days before Pence found out. So either he was completely left out regarding this information or the GOP is setting Pence up to be safe if Trump goes down.

I could see that. These leaks supposedly came from two sources, Pence side and one of the rogue trump staffers. I could also see these leaks being a Rince Priebus thing too. There's been numerous shots fired from Brietbart today regarding Priebus so it seems Bannon / trump and him are feeding somewhat as well.
Also ... this is why the GOP has to act regarding Obamacare and why doing nothing now that they have full control is a bad move

By Fenderputty Go To PostToday is crazy … whitehouse and trump have all stopped following Conway on twitter. lolTrump never followed her though.
But did you see her most recent interview? She looked like she was starting to crack.
We already know they had contacts with Russians, though. And we already know two of them (Manafort and Flynn) - also this was all stuff picked up and compiled under Obama's administration and even then they say nothing in it is actionable. If the NSA and FBI are involved, they definitely have the audio. I think this is probably a whole lot of nothing, but if it gets rid of Trumpsterfire i'm good. Would rather have Pence or Ryan.
if you read the whole NYT article, there's very little to get hyped about. They take very specific care to tell you that no officials they talked to thought there was anything explosive in the communications or unusual outside of the FREQUENCY of the the contacts. And they also take care to tell you that many of Trump's advisors and associates have business interests in Russia (including the Trump family themselves) and that the communications could have very easily have been about that. Also, they also say that basically anyone in society there who is someone is affiliated somehow with Russian intelligence services.
It does seem as though they will need to disclose the nature of those conversations and what aides were involved if nothing else.
This is from today. Spicer denies any communication between the campaign and Russia. IIRC the Russian communication was reported but not corroborated. CNN is also saying they got names.
