I don't want to be diverted from the issues any longer. Feels empty.
A friendly adviser, but please refrain from engaging in discussions about joining local militia groups or taking up arms with hints at "the worst" to come. I understand people are feeling frightened and frustrated, but hinting at joining some sort of armed resistance movement is discouraged and this is definitely not the right venue for that type of discussion. That is not political activism and I believe everyone should understand the line we are drawing.
If you wanna discuss specifics, please PM a mod.

I just want to point out that armed resistance is indeed political activism, but not the kind you want to discuss here. This is by far my favorite book on the topic and on Civil Rights in general.

We're very far in history to need guns to protest and make changes in politics. Vote, participate, get involved in local political parties, etc. This Trump fiasco happened (in part) because of the a-politicalness of the american people, obviously pushed by the media and specially the conservative factions of the government and industry.
If people were actually involved in politics, right-wing would never win an election.
If people were actually involved in politics, right-wing would never win an election.
There's no reason for a violent reaction just yet, the peaceful protests seem to be working, and the GOP hasn't ordered violence inflicted on anyone.
So now they get to try and uphold this shit? After deceiving and antagonising Rs in Congress about it?
Man, some superhero civil rights lawyering gonna get done. Gotta get done.

Stephen Miller is 31 and is writing major policy orders for the White House.
His whole political awakening came because he was a white student at a diverse high school (Santa Monica High). He was *that* kid who wore a suit to school and stood arrow-straight for the national anthem.
We are close to some very explosive shit going down and I hope it breaks the right way. The far right needs to be muzzled and it's more powerful than it has been in generations.

By S@l Go To PostAG Yates 🤘With all of these things, it really isn't the action so much as the language behind them that makes it clear how dangerous it all is. "Betrayed the Department of Justice," right. "wrongly being held up by Democrat senators for strictly political reasons." I wonder if Trump is happy, as a person. I wonder if he experiences happiness.
Wasn't hard to recognise that the ACLU was going to smite.
Also, "approved as to form and legality by the Depart of Justice Office of Legal Counsel"? That's not what almost every other source is saying. This is why it's no fun having bald-faced liars in the Oval Office. Everything is now questionable.
(like how he tried to immediately pin the shooting at the Quebec mosque on Muslim immigrants, when in fact it was done by a white dude who supports not only Trump but also Garfield.)

They're just stacking lies on top of each other.
Spicer saying "I'm a forward thinking person" - what he means is "I/we don't have to answer for shit".
i'm over it
my only interest is are we going to really show something for our outrage in 2018/2020 or not.

Even Harriet Tubman had to rest, man. You are only human. I enjoy a staring contest into the heart of darkness myself, but I gotta blink before I gouge out my eyes.
All the protests and outrage don't mean much when more agree with him.
I've heard nothing but criticism yet the polls show support. Really makes the bubble I'm in apparent.
Broad but noncommittal support loses to small but forceful resistance. We learned this from the Tea Party

I believe the poll is online only and English speaking only so take that into consideration. In general though, if accurate, this pretty much blows all of that "economic anxiety" shit out the window. American are xenophobic racists ..
economic anxiety was always bullshit no matter what anyone said. that's why its a meme
trump became president for one reason and everyone knew what that reason was but some people tried to play devils advocate and act like that wasn't the case.

And it's not a matter of being politically correct. I have faith that we still have democratic avenues to explore.

The future is watching us resist fascism right now. As difficult as it is, we have to remain cautious and logical.
Here's a good read:
Always a gas when lawyers you thought were somewhere around your own ideological postcode gush about nominees whose records are virulently fucking terrible. Fuckin lawyers. Oh he's brilliant, principled, humane. He has a prose style! He's a lawyer's lawyer.

In bad new again, lots of tech companies are holding off on plans to expand in the US and some are instead making those expansions elsewhere due to the travel ban and the uncertainty of what Trump will do next.

38% of the tech jobs in Silicon Valley are occupied by green card or H1b visa holders. These people aren't taking jobs away from Americans, they're literally the only ones that are qualified to do the work. No one would blame these companies if they moved or relocated to Vancouver.
They are going to go hard on Merkel because she now represents the most powerful successful alternative to their ideology (coincidentally, Russia is attempting to do exactly the same thing).
That a country exists that has strong finances, is a net exporter of advanced manufacturing products, where workers sit on the board of those companies, provides high quality healthcare to the entire population, a robust social care system and retirement provision and perhaps most importantly has genuinely shown leadership in providing a compassionate response to the ongoing refugee crisis is extremely threatening to them.
Not only that but during Trump's call with her this weekend she is on record as saying that she tried to explain the Geneva Convention to him. She has been vocal and resolute in her concern of the impact his leadership represents to the fragile global peace which has persisted thanks to institutions such as NATO and the UN. A show of leadership in stunning contrast to the sycophancy of May.
They see destabalizing Merkel and the upcoming German elections as key to undermining the European project and any broader universal organizations which can reign in any unilateral US dominance. We know already from their choice of appointment of Ambassador to the EU that they seek it's destruction. They are getting their steer on EU policy from Nigel Farage, Trump thinks Brexit was a good thing and is now trying to incentivize other EU nations to follow suit.
They realise that the united front that the EU represents is a strong defence against their political and corporate interests, but that atomised individual nations cannot compete. Watching the UK's current undignified begging for scraps on trade should make that clear in case anyone doubts it. It looks likely that any trade deal will allow private US healthcare companies to feast on the corpse of a public-owned NHS—and this is to their 'special' friends. America First.
Tariffs on German imports are just a small piece of this puzzle by constricting one of Germany's largest export markets and which also feeds into Trump's nationalist protectionism red meat policy agenda—his base will no doubt like the fact their hated liberal elites will have to pay more for their Audis. It's all part of a long game to turn Germany's industrialists away from Merkel as up until now they have proven to be impressively loyal (or at least have not dissented against her Brexit red lines on freedom of movement despite the UK press constantly provoking them to).

who is gonna call them out on their bullshit? didn't a judge order to let people from those banned countries through and customs agents just flat out ignored them?

They didn't deny they were talking about it or that there was an EO about it, so, don't worry, they're still coming after LGBTQ rights soon enough. Pence wouldn't have it any other way.

I'll take what I can get, but I don't trust that attitude to stick, at all. Fully expecting them to slide anti-lgbtq nonsense into something else.
