By Nelo Ice Go To PostFucking libertarians. I know one and he's of course a straight white guy in tech. He's hardcore and Rand/Ron are his heroes. He got offended when I dared say Republicans are racist. Dude went out of his way to defend Milo at Berkeley because free speech. And he had the hottest of takes in Jan or Feb on FB. I shared it with a friend so just checked messages and here it is. The best part was besides one white chick who was clearly Dem/liberal all his friends agreed and didn't find his take absolutely insane like we did.
The only one of those things I could see being true would be the return to the moon. Not because it makes any economic sense or because he cares about science, but because it's grandiose enough to be a Trumpian move.
By Fenderputty Go To PostBecause she's not her own person as she will channel her shill mother and has the last name of Clinton. DuhThis is exactly the reason she shouldn't run.
Chelsea is not running for office. After the way she was treated as the child of a president? After the way her mother has been treated? She'd have to be a sadist. This country does not love her, even the Democrats and lefties are suspicious of her. And she's done nothing wrong.
Won’t somebody think of the multimillionaire daughter of a former President and Secretary of State? 🎻
She should be treated with the same extreme skepticism that any wealthy or privileged person should be.

wasn't it the Ford's who decided that factory workers should be sold the American Dream of "if you work harder than your peers despite all of your circumstances, you could one day be rich and have no more worries"?

They also vetted people by their home life and hired them (or not) based on it. Folks think facebook intrusion is insane. It's par for the course. People really need to read up on shit.
For instance, Ford’s " ‘sociological department’ had to inspect a worker’s home to make sure they ‘deserved’ the $5 first," said Ileen A. DeVault, a professor of labor relations, law and history at Cornell University.

That's the protestant work ethic, and it goes back to John Calvin.

Between that and the consistent you're only as productive as your labor or having a job, which hilariously wealthy enough people don't even have to do, our country is going to have a real shit time once automation is in full swing.

By Random Ass Username Go To PostFelons and the currently incarcerated are still being represented. Many are basically slave labor for companies right now. They also endure whatever backlash of awful funding. And they still have families including children who go to schools. Not to mention a bunch of places use that population to boost their numbers in spite of the fact they can't vote, which is bullshit too. This coupled with the fact that throwing minorities in prison and upping their charges to felonies has been a systemic form of voter suppression, it's bullshit. Complete disenfranchisement. Not coincidental, planned and executed against the non-white poorer persons of this nation. As a felon you can get your right to vote again in most states, just the system is geared towards making sure the poor can't recover that right.. but it is possible.
Guys, help me understand myself.
Do you think that by growing up in, and living in, a blue state, that I have become entitled to having higher expectations of politics?
Like, for example, do you guys that think that if I had grown up in and were living in Michigan instead, for example, where life is mostly bullshit (shout out to Eminem), that I would just be more nonchalant and unperturbed by the festering political climate of this godforsaken country?
Like, would I be used to getting shit on, whereas right now I'm just not as used to it?
In conclusion, does growing up in and living in a red state have the effect of making you more grounded in reality?

Where life is mostly bullshit...
What does that even mean?
And why of all states do you pick out Michigan? Why not Montana, the Dakota's, Ohio, or, oh, I don't know, any of the southern states, like Alabama?

Why Michigan?
Well...
Flint.
Even with Flint's water supply being some type of Mars colony levels of shite, they still voted for Trump.
So, like, I think Michigan basically forces people to be really, really super fucking duper levels of greatness and grit if they want to escape the modern day benchmark of hellscapes. Some points of example: Eminem, Draymond Green, Kyle Kuzma.
What does "mostly bullshit" mean?
Well, on top of being a state that has to deal with being in America, it's also a state that has/had a decaying metropolis in Detroit, and its lack of ability to respond to Flint is an overriding metaphor for the country of USA as a whole being unable to respond to a lack of quality of life.
I don't know, I guess that's a very brief and possibly dismissive and insulting assessment of Michigan though. I just don't know how to give it any more credit than it deserves though.

What part of Maryland do you live? In high school were there more than two tables full of niggas at lunch?

Ice cream seems popular.
Just saying that out of the Northeast, I wouldn't give Baltimore the benefit of doubt of being in the top 20% of elite. Baltimore is the only reason Maryland would be couched at the same table as Michigan if Maryland had gone red state in the last election too.
Anyway, I live in Takoma Park now but I grew up in Beltsville, PG County so yeah I had plenty of multicultural tables to eat food with. Potlucks with pupusas, samosas, and mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are some of my fondest of memories.
Edit: Oh yeah, and Jollof rice is a nice complement to biryani too. I really dig it.

But, yeah, while Prince George's County is quite diverse, you now live in one of the wealthiest counties in the entire fucking country. Just keep blue collar cities like Detroit, Flint and Baltimore out of your vocabulary because you sound insane, or at best, incredibly naive making generalizations while asking broad questions about red states this or blue states that.
I've spent enough time at College Park and within the District to know exactly your type, Smoke Dogg.

I have no idea about the specific country being talked about, but from my experience, a county isn't a good predictor of what life is like. LA Country has just about every income level and living condition from absolute destitution to to richest of the richest mother fuckers alive.
The rust belt in general is becoming more and more ain't shit. Gerrymandering and the death of manufacturing has worked it's wonders.
I find the entire argument between you two to be ... odd. Fucking Cleveland has a joke tourism video in it where one of the tag lines is "we're not detroit". Snyder is a POS and most of the Flint crap can stop and end with him. The EPA under Obama maybe takes like 5% of the blame.
Lol whatever my type may be, you've spent more time in College Park than any of us beltway bitches care to spend in Baltimore, so have fun with shitty crabcakes or whatever the fuck Baltimore is trying to lure in unwitting tourists with these days. It's not even worth visiting for Otakon.
Non-Maryland natives get to experience a classic MD discussion, in real time. Lmfao
I'm to tired to even comprehend this shit, atm, but if you've lived in one of the poorer states and moved, this political climate will only enrage you further. Well, that's how I feel right now, visiting fam in the deep deep South. That's no judgement on the residents, but the people that are supposed to help them.

You start out by asking if living in a blue state has tainted your ability to fairly assess politics in Michigan where "life is mostly bullshit" and now for some reason Baltimore is involved because Detroit is in decay and Flint has Mars water.

But yeah, I used Michigan as an example of a red state, because that's just what the fuck it is now.

Not even someone who lives in Michigan has gotten as nitpicky as you because I didn't cite something else like Texas or Florida instead. It probably wouldn't have mattered if I picked something else anyway, because nobody should say "life is mostly bullshit" about anywhere unless Baltimore gets its due props first.
I just don't understand how education is so lost on some of these people. Do you want to wait for some CEO to make a meaningful change to your wages or offer you the chance to work a shit job that just barely allowed you to live paycheck to paycheck or do you want a fair chance at empowering yourself to do better? There's such an odd dissonance in regards to the mentality of the lower class republican. "I'll die before I take a handout! Bootstraps!" But not even give a shit if the ladder to success is covered in toxic sludge with spikes all over it.
Smoke Dogg just for reference Flint didn't go to Trump. When accusing entire states of being aint shit, you might want to not shit on the urban areas which predominantly vote against GOP/Trumpite shit.
See? Blue as fuck. Far as the rest of it they probably couldn't give a fuck less about a mostly minority and liberal urban population having lead in the water.

Random, in no way do I ever intend on victim blaming the people of Flint. That would be beyond the pale... even for my glue huffing, Huffington Post reading ass.
I do lay the blame for Flint's troubles squarely at the hands of all of Michigan's GOP/Trump voting districts. Thank you for making sure.
