I'm really not in favor of playing this tit-for-tat game with representative democracy. Gerrymandering is bad regardless of the party drawing the maps. We need fairly drawn, logical districts so that the people that live there can elect people that actually represent them, not these maps that exist to disenfranchise liberals, the poor, and people of color and ensure that their voice doesn't reach Washington (ie. vote in Democrats).

By Smoke Dogg Go To PostI need the type of Dem assholes that are willing to play just as dirty and gerrymander shit as badly as GOP gerrymandered it.
Otherwise, you don't really have a democracy.
Do you think Republicans are the only ones to have ever gerrymandered a map before?
By reilo Go To PostThat's what I said yesterday but then I was called a conservative.
Neoliberal shill.
By Fenderputty Go To PostDo you think Republicans are the only ones to have ever gerrymandered a map before?
Nope, I come from the so-so great but not-so-great state of Maryland where it takes 20 years to build a new mass transit line.
I think I read one time about how the Democrats of Maryland have left the state as one of the most gerrymandered states in existence, so much so that the fact the residents of Maryland elected a Republican as their current governor should've told O'Malley all he needed to know about his presidential hopes or whatever.
So yeah, I know full well that the Democrats can gerrymander the shit out of a map too.
And you know what, thank God for that shit, thank God when Dems do it, cuz just imagine where this country would be right now if it weren't for Maryland and states just like it.
We need to step up our game on that front. We been tanking too long and getting shitty draft picks too long now.
I’ll settle for some tit for tat when it come to gerrymandering. Which we will do for sure if Kennedy doesn’t stop the back n forth of gaming the system
Tester is a smart man. This bill is less popular than the Clinton tax hike. He'd be worse off next year if he had been for it, even though he lives in a conservative state because people haven't been fooled.

Trickle down economics seems to have finally hit a snag with much of the electorate that previously bought into it.
I ended up on CNN reading about the passage of the stimulus bill and how it was 1000 page doc that Republicans didn't see with enough time. Same with this tax bill for Dems. It's never going to end is it ;_;
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostMy motive for asking is because I seriously hope the GOP can never, ever come back from this, not while history lives. This is never gonna happen. Even if Fox News ceases to exist, because of our two party system it’ll ensure that we always flip flop.
Gerrymandering needs to go as well as many other forms of voter suppression. I'd even argue that felons and the currently incarcerated should be able to vote as well. Its bullshit they can't.

Al Franken probably still bitter af he can't be lewd and keep his office like el presidente still can.
I love my 3rd district in Baltimore. Look at this shit...
That has more in common with the floor of a Kink.com set than any meaningful voting lines.
How does this happen? Who cares. We have a good rep in John Sarbanes who will follow in former reps from the district and be a future State Senator.
Being in South Baltimore, I'm very close to being in the the 7th which isn't nearly as fun...

It is bullshit. They're still being represented by who's being put into the positions.

Its bullshit they can't.I used to not care about felons at all because I was ignorant and thought our criminal justice system was just and fair.
Then I found out that the police in this country have quotas?
That they get to keep money and shit that they confiscate after racially profiling you?
That they will even plant drugs on you just to make it look like they weren't racially profiling you?
Then I found out the prisons in this country are now privately owned businesses, and that the government is monetarily encouraged to keep those prisons filled?
Before, when I was a kid, I used to be like, "Fuck the felons."
Now, as an adult, I'm more like, "Fuck the police."
I have sympathy for most felons now because I can't even trust the system anymore.
So yeah, I'm all about returning felons their right to vote carte blanche, except for sexual offenders obviously.
Democrats need to run on the idea of a new voting rights act. Reinstating the right to vote of the incarcerated, no strict ID laws, same day registration, mail in ballots in every state.
Even if you assumed every criminal is justifiably a criminal, I would still argue they deserve the right to vote on who represents them in congress.
Sometimes I wonder if the path isn't to remove ID laws, but rather to make a national voting ID mandatory, free and easily accessible. I think you would have an easier time getting something like that passed as you'll pick up more moderate / conservative voters who are concerned about voter fraud.

Felons and the currently incarcerated are still being represented. Many are basically slave labor for companies right now. They also endure whatever backlash of awful funding. And they still have families including children who go to schools. Not to mention a bunch of places use that population to boost their numbers in spite of the fact they can't vote, which is bullshit too. This coupled with the fact that throwing minorities in prison and upping their charges to felonies has been a systemic form of voter suppression, it's bullshit. Complete disenfranchisement. Not coincidental, planned and executed against the non-white poorer persons of this nation.

I always find it odd how many people like and want to go to the booths in voting day. I've been voting early by mail in Cali for ages.
Waiting for my train and I see on the tv “breaking news: trump says Americans get a tax cut for Christmas”
Lol
Lol

By Fenderputty Go To PostI will download the app at laugh at morons in cali who didn't vote early while I drink my beer on the next election day.Sadly, it will be restricted to just a certain parish in Louisiana. Unless they like it when we are finished sometime in 2018/19 and they try to sell it to other parishes/counties. Which would be cool.
Oregon has it right, just get folks registered and mail the shit in. Those without a current home address are allowed to use shelters or the county clerk as the address then pick up the ballot at the county elections office (in case anyone was wondering about that).
I feel video games tend to reflect the climate. Like when zombie movies became big you saw the rise of zombie games in the early 90s and on... we're going to see a ton more post apocalyptic/nuclear strike games soon aren't we?
Comcast, At&T, Wells Fargo , Boeing giving bonuses and/or raising minimum wage as a result of tax cuts (they say).
At&T And Comcast giving out $1,000 bonuses to their employees. That's pretty dope.

I'm not gonna give these companies a gold star for doing something decent when they've been at the forefront of pushing for the tax bill, Wall Street deregulation, and against net neutrality. The massive damage to society being done far outweighs any seeming benevolence to their workers.
I'm sure those employees will enjoy their new iPads though.

An extra $1,000 is an extra $1,000. That's actually a noticeable amount so good for the workers .
I don't doubt that it's perfectly timed PR which is why I said 'so they say' in parentheses.
Comcast can especially get fucked.

ATT is trying curry favor with the Trump admin in their pursuit of the Time Warner merger and bonuses aren't increases in real wages which is what the GOP is promising with their tax bill. I think Wells Fargo had announced their increases months ago too.
Yo, fuck AT&T for trying to make people think this tax bill is a good thing.
I'm literally the worst consumer possible right now by having AT&T cell service and Comcast internet service.
I can't believe that by switching all my services to Verizon, I can fuck both AT&T and Comcast in one fell swoop.
So I'm going to, asap.
Also, I will never book another flight using a Boeing plane.
My only saving grace is that I don't now nor ever have banked with Wells Fargo, and now I never will.
Fuck them all.

So? It's a tangible amount of extra money lol . IMO anyway, no matter the obvious game they're trying to play at large.
I mean, it is dope they get a momentary slight monetary increase. They should get something for being the pawn.

It's nice but it's also like, 5% of the tax bonanza each of these companies is going to receive. In fact most of these families will be paying it back in 6 years when the middle class tax cuts expire and the corporate cuts remain permanent.
