By KingGondo Go To PostIs Trump right or well-informed about… anything?
God No.
He got into politics because or racism and to help promote his TV show.
He's breaking laws left and right. Republicans should withdraw early to avoid the backlash, especially after their own attempt to get that money by removing the ethics board backfired but its still too early for them to realize it. Especially when they lost the popular vote by 3 million and won the electoral by 70,000..... Shit is a powder keg waiting to happen. His secretary of state's hearing is actually when I think the official split happens but we'll wait and see.
By KingGondo Go To PostHard to govern when the demands of your voting base are impossible to satisfy. Government benefits for those who "deserve" them, but not for that lazy black woman they read about on Facebook. A cheaper system than the ACA that covers more people without raising taxes. Bringing back shitty manufacturing and coal industry jobs that left because of market conditions and not because of the boogeymen of immigration or a liberal "war on middle America."
Yeah but they knew these we're bad ideas when they ran..... They just proposed them (and supported them) to have something else to say besides "Obama was born in Pakistan". They are murmuring about doing a infrastructure bill but the Dems basically shot that down too since it was there idea and now the repubs want to take credit it for it.
How can the GOP propose an infrastructure bill if they're going to slash taxes and half the party will shut the government down over raising the debt ceiling after we created bills we need to pay?
The party is currently unified under Trump, but the unity is pretty shaky IMO. Trump has different ideas than the eGOP has different ideas than the Freedom Caucus.

“We have to get to business. Obamacare has been a catastrophic event.”
Mr. Trump’s position undercuts Republican leaders who want a quick vote to repeal President Obama’s signature domestic achievement but who also want to wait as long as two to three years to come up with an alternative. But he was also challenging the resolve of nervous Republicans in Congress who do not want any vote on a repeal until that replacement exists.
Mr. Trump, who seemed unclear about the timing of already scheduled votes in Congress this week, demanded a repeal vote “probably some time next week,” and said “the replace will be very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter.”
LOL
That plan is under pressure from Republicans who want to slow the process as they struggle for an agreement on what would follow repeal.
But Mr. Trump said there was no cause for delay. And he said he would not accept a delay of more than a few weeks before a replacement plan was voted on. “Long to me would be weeks,” he said. “It won’t be repeal and then two years later go in with another plan.” That directly contradicts House Speaker Paul D. Ryan’s plans.
LOL
Mr. Trump issued a political warning to Democrats who might stand in his way, saying he would campaign against lawmakers, especially in states that he won in November.
“It may not get approved the first time, and it may not get approved the second time, but the Democrats who will try not to approve it” will be at risk, warning that “they have 10 people coming up” for re-election in 2018. That alluded to Democratic senators in states he won.
“I won some of those states by numbers that nobody has seen. I will be out there campaigning,” he said.
Stay strong Dems ...

Trump is such a fucking clown.
LMAO his party is like "chill if we pass this we're screwed....." and here he goes "Do it now! because I say so!!!"
no way does this coalition last, self preservation is going to have the repubs in congress ignoring him real soon. I think the only reason they might fuck with him is they want that SCOTUS pick, but dems seem pretty set in on waiting that one out too......

By Tea Go To PostI've been tinkering with the idea of buying stock in companies that manufacture and sell insulin.
That.......isn't a bad idea
Not a single GOP congressman is supporting a bi-partisan investigation into the Russian hacking. Not. A. Single. One.
I'm just waiting for the ball to drop, just looking regionally and shit, the people who voted in these morally repugnant shits are the most likely to need the ACA and yet they're pissing it away. Good luck affording your insulin, cardiac medications and whatever else that literally keeps you alive.

That is going to come back and bite them in the ass though..... it feels like their version of falling on their swords like the Dems voting for the Iraq war. Putin didn't risk it on supporting Trump to sit on his hands and hum showtunes..... he's gearing for war and influence and even if Trump doesn't try to stop him, future Presidents are going to have to deal with him and his ambitions eventually.

Why would they want to sully their brand? Long term this might have negative effects like Zeus pointed out, but short term this is exactly the road I expected them to take.

Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.
By Fenderputty Go To PostSame …Most of them, all but the super hardcore, have been super quiet ever since Trump basically said he wasn't serious about most his promises...so should be ok
I've had a good friend from HS that I keep up with, but he's a redneck and voted Trump. I haven't spoken to him since about 3 weeks before the election. His family was plastering images of them with MAGA crap on via instagram. Hes been making efforts to hang out and I just haven't responded because I'm so let down. He's been a republican his whole life but this is the first time I've cared how he voted. We almost always talk politics when we hang out too, which is a massive reason I'm avoiding him. His wife is sending my wife texts now lol
I might invite him to my daughters first birthday since so many people should make things less personal and topic such as politics shoudn't come up.

These senior intelligence officials also included the synopsis to demonstrate that Russia had compiled information potentially harmful to both political parties, but only released information damaging to Hillary Clinton and Democrats. This synopsis was not an official part of the report from the intelligence community case about Russian hacks, but some officials said it augmented the evidence that Moscow intended to harm Clinton's candidacy and help Trump's, several officials with knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.wow
The two-page synopsis also included allegations that there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government, according to two national security officials.

Because they are going to leak some of this as soon as he goes against Putin.

This week's Weeds podcast on Vox is very good. Matt bringing down the hammer on Republican myopia on ObamaCare.
If you hate ObamaCare because it taxes rich people, just fucking lower their taxes. Why take away medical coverage from 20 million people in the process?

No, the Russians aren't going to use this info to blackmail Trump. In fact, they knew they couldn't keep it secret that they had it. Hell, the OPPOSITION RESEARCH firm figured it out.
What you see happening right now is the sole reason why the Russians went through all this trouble to even gather that info - to cause as much chaos as possible. Destroy whatever shred of belief anyone has in our democratic institution, and use it to sow seeds of mistrust and division here in America and abroad in our allies. They are using this whole deal - the hacking, interfering, and the perception they somehow control or can control the American president to drive wedges in our relationships with our allies and other nations with which they hope to step in and fill the void. Why? Greater influence leads to more opportunities - military, economic....especially economic. Russia would love nothing more to have military agreements with more governments, that means more markets for the two things they export worth a shit - natural resources, and arms/military expertise.
We aren't the only part of this plan, either. Putin is backing far right and left parties in Europe as well. Shit, in France the far right is talking about going to Russian banks to fund their campaigns via loans since foreign campaign contributions are illegal. You think that's a coincidence?

If anything this is going to lead to some legit cold war fuckery and last time that happen Russia got starved out.
The evidence looks tenuous at best so I'm skeptical of what we should make of it.

I am 100% for some old school Cold War fuckery. If the Russians want to play this game, we should expel their diplomats, seize their assets, and cut off all diplomatic ties completely with them. Travel embargo, perhaps expulsion of certain Russian nationals, and place a Cold War size military presence back in Central and Eastern Europe. See how they like that. Also sanctions out the fucking asshole.
They want to play this game, we simply tighten the noose.
Sadly, Komrade Trump will not do this and neither will anyone else. No one has the balls to do this.
The Russian government is not our friend and never has been. We should stop pretending they are and put them back on Cold War footing.

We have already done the bolded the last few years...... The cold war is more or less on. It just looks like Russia got a head start and Trump might delay America's response even further
By reilo Go To PostIf anything, Trump wants to do the opposite and undo the recent sanctions imposed by Obama admin.
exactly which would be the worse thing to do because Putin would have no fear of reprisals and can begin to expand his influence uninterrupted for at least 2-4 years...... possibly 8
I laughed.
EDIT: Okay so this is basically the report that was referenced in the Mother Jones story a week before the election. Basically this confirms that the IC has seen the report and have submitted a summary to Barack and Trump. It does not however, speak to the validity of the report.
Not nearly as big a deal as I was first led to believe. Well, still a big deal, but nothing new has actually surfaced since October, outside of CIA/FBI/NSA's acknowledgment of said report's existence.
So if Trump was removed from the big job, then the Alt-Right would have a total win... man that is scarier than I want to admit..

Fuck all of you calling for militarizing Europe. Fuck you hard. Bunch of ignorant backseat assholes. Keep using words you don't understand the real life translation of.
You can choose either Western/NATO tanks or Russian ones. Your choice.
Edit: It's already happening anyways. No one in Eastern Europe wants to be left alone to deal with Putin on their own. No one.
And I know exactly what these words mean, and so do your governments over there who are ASKING for this in the first place. So you can take your "Fuck all of you" comment and sit and spin.
Can you go more than a day without coming in hot on someone or something on this board? My gut says no.

Nobody wants that. I think everybody is very much aware of what happens when too many Europeans get militarized.... but NATO exist for a reason. I also am starting to think Russia has worked to undercut the EU.....especially once they stopped being a good energy customer. I don't this a war (well more wars.....) will happen but a cold war based on sanctions and economics need to happen. Its not surprising that trump is trying to distance America from China when if America/NATO and China agreed to put strong sanctions on Russia Putin would be economically suffocated from both sides.
Trump is acting very much like a Russian puppet when you look at his actions from a global level.

Putin is the aggressor here. We've all also seen what happens when a militarized, ethnic supremacist gets to rattle his sword unchecked in Europe as well

Can you guys even spell the name of those countries before talking of escalating warfare? "Send troops to Africa", that's how daft you sound. No one here knows shit about European politics and in truth you're not even interested. To you, everyone is in Moscow's pockets, left and right, you guys don't even know which country is a republic or which elects its prime minister. You're just regurgitating the propaganda of the British nationalists (populists with a libertarian flavor) who think anyone with a social bent is a stalinian in hiding.
Kind of like how you think you are an expert in American politics?
All you ever do on any of these threads is sit and curse/insult, and tell everyone how no one is as SMART as you, as if your opinion was the only one that mattered.
You know, we had tons of western troops in central europe before. It was called the COLD WAR and wasn't actually a war you know. It's a deterrent against Russia pulling shit like rolling tanks into Poland, or annexing/destabilizing whole chunks of the Ukraine.

Additional question, what do you think actual European people, not just officials, think of Nato and US militarism? It's 2017. The cold war, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq times 2, Chile, Cuba, your covert ops and financing of anticommunist unions, etc. We're decades removed from World War 2 no one outside American Liberals and neoconservative thinks of the US as the leader of the free world.
Sounds like someone is mad that the US doesn't usually come down on the side of leftist interests in Europe.

I'm sure people in eastern europe who will be the first ones to deal with any Putin bullshit will be happy to know that someone in France doesn't support NATO troops in EU member states.
