By livefromkyoto Go To PostSorry, not to be a pessimist but this is totally delusional pie-in-the-sky stuff. We already know exactly how things would turn out - pretty much the way they already have. The 'Grand Rapids granny' activist investor lobby is not going to stem the tide of capitalist inequality. They won't have the shares, the information, the energy or the involvement.
The only thing that can stop capitalism's inequality is a government willing to regulate greedy business owners. Which unfortunately can't happen when you keep recruiting your leaders from the business owner class, or have a political system that relies on them for campaign donations.
People with less shares but the same voice electorally will have different views of what a company should do. I gain less from a dividend payment than I do from a company who pays more into the system for things like healthcare if I own less shares. The theory didn’t weight votes by ownership. In fact, in theory, whole political shifts could happen by activists buying single shares in companies that need more influencing.
One of the dangers the article brought up was too many voices even.

Two state solution wasn't happening, but why this and why now? This is just begging for a net increase of bad shit happening.

Can’t go with a one state solution. Not unless they’ve purged all the Palestinians first. Jewish pop would be soon outnumbered iirc. Or they just never give citizenship to Palestinian people
Can anyone shed light on how much Palestinians may or may not have in common with Kurds?
They both have always sounded like a stateless peoples to me, but I never really knew where to begin in order to investigate that hunch further, and to Slaent's credit you lot are a knowledgeable bunch, so I'm not too scared to show my ignorance here.

Country over party after this guy just voted for tax cuts for billionaires, voted for ACA repeal, and hasn't voted against a single Trump appointee.
It's fuck him, but if he gets more of these assholes to drop support, and or not vote for Roy, so be it. Him and Mitt.
Lol @ 100 dollars though.

I'd laugh if this wasn't so utterly horrifying.
Alarm bells all over the place but nothing really surprises me anymore.
Let's all just go back to rule by shamanism. At least then you had the sense that somebody somewhere had a plan.

(Look at all the documents he went prepared with)
Democratic senators, all women so far (that I've seen, courtesy of Kasie Hunt), are calling for Franken to resign.
Minnesota is confusing as heck to me. They can elect folks like Ventura and Franken (entertainers) and at the same time be an island onto themselves by not voting for Trump (also an entertainer). So does Minnesota just take the piss at the local and state levels, but show up for the playoffs in the general election at the federal level?
Trump doesn't give a fuck about Israel or have the slightest idea what the issues are. This is all his Jesus freak cabinet talking and him going along with it.
So he recognizes Jerusalem at their capitol, but then signs a decree keeping the embassy in Tel Aviv just as every US president since 1995 has. Real slick. All talk for the headlines.

Reminder that Mitch McConnell has said the people of Alabama are free to decide if Roy Moore should be in the Senate.
I kind of admire the GOP's win at all costs mentality. I mean, as a people, we're garbage anyway, so they're about what we deserve.
It's that time of the year again where everyone wonders why Time uses the phrase "Person of" for their "Person of the Year" award.

They're overextending themselves though. Stuff like passing a hugely unpopular tax bill (along with entitlement cuts), becoming the party of Trump, and supporting a pedophile are the kind of mistakes that *should* be slam dunk issues for the Democrats to capitalize on. I just wish I had any faith that the Dems are capable of doing this.
P.S. Keith Ellison for Senate.
Good on the Dems for forcing the issue and drawing a real contrast with Moore. Took too long, but it's done.
