A week ago today a Baltimore detective was shot in the head in a lot in West Baltimore and died. Police shutdown the neighborhood for days while they searched for clues and knocked on doors looking for any witnesses.
Yesterday the police commissioner revealed that...
Shot with his own gun you say. Interesting.
Hmmm...
Known drug zone where bodies have popped up multiple times over the years, yet no CCTV cameras on the streets for blocks. Interesting, yes, very interesting...
Was due to testify against other cops the very next day before being shot you say? Wow, okay, that is very interesting...
They killed this man, 18 years on the job and left his five kids without a father because he was too good of a human being for this line of work.
Detective Sean Suiter is someone to be thankful for today.āš¾

Shocking. People don't want to die.
I actually thought about switching to their Unlimited Plan earlier this year so I could gain Hotspot LTE when I am in coffee shops, but now? LOL
Fuck off Verizon. Although I suppose I'd be switching to one shitty internet provider that supports what the FCC is trying to do from another that supports what the FCC is trying to do. Fuck 'em all.

This tweet series is a really good read on what Flynn turning on Trump likely means.
Spoil me because I'm lazy and in the bathroom on a VPN via wifi at the job trying to catch up with the news while avoiding IT sanctions.

Basically it looks like the Flynn deal was in the works for months and the article is faulty because it makes it seem like the deal just happened and that it was normal for Flynn's lawyers and Trump's lawyers to be sharing information. It was Not. Especially in a obstruction of justice case where they are both being investigated to see if Trump was communicating to Flynn to not testify. In a normal case both parties would avoid each other to make it seem they weren't in cahoots but as we all know Trump can't just do normal.

Great Article on why people tend to become either Liberal or Conservative. It's related to how much Fear dictates their actions. Kind of coincides with that Gun cartoon Michael Moore made years ago. Republicans are basically the shook ones.

By s y Go To Posti think he means why the u.s is still in Afghanistan or how it even got to the current scale.just two different brands of warhawking
we didn't just wake up to a decades long war
Dy's point is that liberalism is less open full on war and more clandestine bullshit but with the same goals in mind, helping out global conglomerates. And that for as much crowing as liberals do about military spending they ought to look at how many democratic senators and representatives keep that shit going because warhawishness and constituencies that include folks who just make military arms for a living. We have a whole system wrapped around military spending including jobs or the pittance military fams get. A lot of the military is GOP because they know cuts to spending will be their inadequate funds first well before any military or weapons contracting bullshit.
That was in reference to the whole war thing. We can't just leave Afghanistan; we have to help stabilize them.
By TheHunter Go To PostThat was in reference to the whole war thing. We can't just leave Afghanistan; we have to help stabilize them.so like how and when did it escalate and what was the left's response to it?
again, just looking at every situation like its inherently manageable and entirely under control is the other side of the coin that people generally skate past
By DY_nasty Go To Postso like how and when did it escalate and what was the left's response to it?It escalated when ISIS came unto the scene as well as when vast resources were found inside the country. I do imagine we might have escalated it for that reason so we aren't faultless but what Obama did vs what GOP military adventures do is leaps and bounds different. Drone strikes and surges vs complete BS to invade a country is what we're talking.

Left militarism is not the same as Right militarism. Clinton did truly want to "police" the world. The GOP wants to pilfer it.

ISIS? The US's heaviest presence in Afghanistan had zero correlation to ISIS's activity in the region nor did it directly relate to active or proactive securing of significant resources there as well (China was all over that while we were still chasing boogiemen through the hills and playing hearts and minds with people only to give up by encouraging a 'play nice' Taliban).
And the way you're framing this is still a blame-someone-else spin as well. The amount of money/resources/people we poured into the middle east was flatly unchecked during the Obama administration. You say a "complete BS invasion" like our activity in Somalia is somehow new to this administration and Libya wasn't sent back 40 years because reasons.
Yes, the GOP is blah blah evil blah blah but if people took even a fraction of the scrutiny placed on whose wi-fi Flynn used while taking a shit and placed it fairly on both the left and right there wouldn't be such laughable
I mean people actually think that we care about Syrians?
They aren't the only people dying out there. But they are around a regime that's on the way out one way or another and there's a nice pipeline that's been a hot issue for a solid decade now. One entity says "save the world" and the other says "remove evil at all costs" - its the same thing lol
Clinton policing the world with a no-fly zone over a sovereign country is literally a war declaration homie. But you feel good about it is all that's important.

Conflict is our nature and we must keep it at bay. I have accepted that we must always have a military and sometimes that means making difficult choices and taking aggressive actions. ISIS was created because we fell asleep in Afghani territory. The problem is also that our government has been captured by corporate interests. Only one party is attempting to check that corporate influence and shows an openness to adopting an anti-corporate belief.

Yes, the GOP is blah blah evil blah blah but if people took even a fraction of the scrutiny placed on whose wi-fi Flynn used while taking a shit and placed it fairly on both the left and right there wouldn't be such laughablecoverageentertainment news on every major american network these days. The military in general isn't about defending American so much as it is about protecting American interests - and interests have a consistent theme. People have already given up asking how long we've been in Chad, why, and how much is actually invested.
I mean people actually think that we care about Syrians?

I am of a firm belief that the US should use it's military to defend the world. NO-fly zones over Syria were meant to prevent Assad from committing atrocities, but blue balling peacniks and Trump prevented Obama from committing to the fight. We failed Syria and Libya badly by sitting it out; and this was in part due to leftists thinking world police a bad idea.
IF Trump and 2016 has taught me anything it's that humanity needs a central police power to watch over and ensure the laws are followed and peace is kept. That of course brings up "who polices those police" but our current situation and lack of regulation on unchecked globalism and corporate growth has shown we need a world police now more than ever, and one that can not only check countries but Multinationals as well.
That's not to say you and people like you shouldn't be there. We need a constant check on people like myself to ensure we don't become knight templars and fall into the same evils we wish to curtail.
By DY_nasty Go To PostOnly one party checks corporate interests? Are you for real? šYou do realize the democrats were responsible for Dodd-Frank and strengthening the EPA/Climate change action correct? Both of those are anti-corporate actions. I won't deny the Clinton wing/Centrists are a little too cozy to banks and wall street but on the average the dems try to fight big businesses.
By Random Ass Username Go To PostLet us know when you read about Operation Condor.I'm not sure what operations from 50 years ago have to do with a democratic party that has changed and become a lot more accepting of leftist and liberal policies.
I also mentioned we make difficult decisions; not all I agree with.

I won't deny the Clinton wing/Centrists are a little too cozy to banks and wall street but on the average the dems try to fight big businesses. You say that like there's no monstrous industry alongside both ends of that discussion. Its not about saving trees and protecting future generations, its about fighting the obvious old titans of energy to pave the way for a new one. That's not what makes something the party of good or whatever. Banks are whatever, no one likes them. Its when the focus shifts to them specifically and not adjacent industries that I have to wonder how much they're actually paying attention or what they truly care about.

The problem is also that our government has been captured by corporate interests. Only one party is attempting to check that corporate influence and shows an openness to adopting an anti-corporate belief.ISIS was not 'created because we fell asleep in Aghani territory either'. Who told you that? If anything we deliberately allowed them to gain strength past a certain point to offset other forces in the region and, because this is American history, they followed suit with almost every other third party grunt force out there.

You can say all the we'llneverpeace stuff blah blah but that's not at all what this discussion is about lol. The nature of men is whatever, but lets not pretend that 8 years in the middle east under the democratic administration was somehow intended to deescalate, but was derailed by those meddling kids in ISIS. That's flatly untrue. Also those resources? Installing that trash regime in Aghanistan was hustling in the wrong direction anyways. If we were there just to kill a few particular guys and leave, then why fuck with Karzai in the first place? Because it was an outdated strategy put into place in a theater we had no frame of reference for. So those 'resources' have already been snatched up and privatized anyways.
The government wasn't captured by corporate interests in the most recent election either. American interests and corporate interests have had to be lined up and on the same page since the 50s lol.
I also wonder why people are constantly trying to go back and rewrite the narrative regarding Syria as if Obama was somehow 'restrained' during his time as president with regards to military action. That makes no sense. He had a blank check.
And what do you mean by sitting out of Libya? Like we did that shit lol. Called the homies from the Iraq War and got the gang back together to remove another dictator (nevermind our previous history with said dictator, he's evil now because he needs to be)
i still don't get the whole 'defend the world' thing either
because if we wanted to save lives and shit we'd have been in entirely different places lol
