Hell yes
By butt Go To PostIt's not about Virginia in a vacuum. There is a clear pattern of +Dem overperformance in every one of these elections this year, from Montana to the suburbs of Atlanta to tonight.
The prospect of taking back the house was beyond laughable before Trump was elected, but it's actually looking possible now. Not to mention the situation in the Senate, specifically in AZ.
This is actually a huge night.
This is the pattern of government though. The incumbent president party generally sees losses in the following elections. That's how it's always been. Especially in the sense that Republicans were being outvoted massively across the country, even when they were taking seats - it's fair to say they only have their majorities in the congress because of gerrymandering.
Virginia is generally a blue state, so it's no huge surprise Dems made headway there considering how historically unpopular trump is. Obviously take nothing for granted, but Virginia doesn't inform me of Alabama being inherently vulnerable.
those Georgia state seats being taken, however, shows promise.
By Trey Go To Post"build on virginia" like it's not usually blue. by all means, run up in alabama, but virginia is not the litmus test for the great offensive lolHaha well I think Virginia is very much a battleground state and to have Northam winning by above 8+ points now is freaking incredible. It may not be the litmus test but it sure proved that Democrats can win again if they don't take anything for granted again.
Btw, we should be treating all states as battleground states tbh, even the traditionally blue ones, cuz look at how Maryland's governor is a Republican. I mean, that's all O'Malley's fault, but it really goes to show how some people may have been able to stomach voting for a Republican or not voting at all. Nah'm saying?
We got to PUSH and make them fuckers blow their load on their own home turfs. We got to be the invaders!
Btw, Obama was just some fucking Harvard lawyer or some shit. This homie Northam was an Army doctor who called out Trump in ways Perriello wouldn't dare to, and he wasn't settling for no punchlines with Seth Meyers or some shit.
We got so damn lucky to have Northam. They don't make enough of him in this world.

By KingGondo Go To PostSo good. The credulous attitude which the US media has used with the "alt right" stands in stark contrast to this.
Is this Richard Spencer a descendant of the Cherokees cause otherwise he really shouldn't class himself as an American under his own logic. What an absolute cunt.
Crooked Media hired Jason Kander.

I'm not a political strategist, but I think that getting wiped out in an election where you got annihilated among suburban middle class voters and most people said their biggest issue was health care does not mean you need to push through tax cuts for millionaires by gutting Medicare and Medicaid and raising taxes on the middle class.

Figured as much ... still a good referendum on Obamacare
By Trey Go To Postthey're trying to distance themselves from him since he lost. basically ignoring everything they said, and he said, leading up to getting slapped in a humiliating defeat.
Trump will backstab anyone who doesn't win for him. Zero respect, loyalty and values.

By Oersted Go To PostTrump will backstab anyone who doesn't win for him. Zero respect, loyalty and values.Which makes it even funnier that these people are willing to walk the plank for the guy and own totally toxic votes that are going to get them ousted next year. They'll carry water for Trump until the end of his/their days in the name of tax cuts on the ultra rich and killing poor people.
By Fenderputty Go To PostFull steam ahead!
He's not wrong. If things flip in 18, they'll be more or less powerless to get anything done.
It's just a matter of time before Trump sees the writing on the wall and starts to panic. When he sees there's a very short amount of time available for him to deliver on policy, he's going to freak out.
There is no way anybody, not pundits, not wonks, not laypeople, not anybody, would be having this conversation right now, if Northam weren't the candidate.
Northam 2020 the dream.
Northam 2020 the dream.

.
Sure, but that statement makes his calculus obvious. There's no intention of passing something people want. They lost last night badly and it was mostly on the back healthcare and anti trumpism. So their tax plan may include a mandate repeal and does include medicaid and medicare cuts. Maine just voted to expand medicaid by like a 70% margin! They may or may not cut taxes on the middle class in the first years but that scales back to a hike on the middle class with permanent cuts for the rich in the later years. It's like they're willing to hand Dems power as long as they can get those tax breaks.
Paul Ryan deserves the worst day of judgment coming to him. He has yet to feel the despair his forerunner Boehner felt, crying like a little bitch at the altar of the Pope's feet. But in Ryan's case, he'll be so shook he won't even have the capacity to pray.
Morning, sunshines 😊
How long are we going to have to wait for the last VA house races to be recounted?

Probably a while. Not too sure
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostSpeaking of, still in the running for worst take from last night from someone not in Trump's orbit
Yeah he got thoroughly trashed on Twitter last night. Relying on such margins to win a split is a shining example of why gerrymandering blows

Ohhh you gotta be kidding me.
Imagine the amount of rage and emotions he went through last night. Every article today about his sliding poll numbers and his toxicity levels turning off voters has to have him on the edge. I eagerly await the "Leaks" about this.
By Method Go To Post1.7 trillion fucking dollars. the "fiscal conservative" GOP is Pure garbage and liars.
Yeah I saw the CBO increased their projections due to interest payments. I wish this would just be the end of deficit fear mongering but it won't be.
Reagan put the death blows to fiscal conservatism. Hasn't actually existed for a long time. And those that use it as an excuse are full of shit. The amount however little it is spent on actual infrastructure and social services is just drops in the bucket compared to military spending and corporate welfare.

You can’t run on fiscal conservatism in 2018 if you just blew up the deficit biggly just a couple months prior
Anyone can really run on anything cause lol but in factual matters (also lol), not a politician out there that can run on fiscal conservatism unless they plan to take on the Military, Wallstreet and Multinationals.
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostWhat.Trumps pettiness gonna backfire
You can fuck over everyone but don’t fuck with wealthy people because of your petty agendas
I'm laughing so hard at all these greedy fucks who didn't realize the Trump is the kind of asshole who won't just let them carry on with their business. Hello, he's a egomaniacal petty spiteful asshole, they would know more than anyone. Fucking dipshits.

As a resident of Maryland (and having grown up in West Virginia), I don't have much good to say about Virginia, but good going, Virginia!
I like how Fox News is just doubling and tripling down now. Pretty soon Breitbart will just be redundant.
Recount in one of the delegate races resulted in the Republican pulling ahead, more than can be made up most likely. :(
So best we can do now is a 50/50 tie.

Gerrymandering sucks. Thankfully there's a new democratic governor who will fix that in VA in 2020 if Kennedy doesn't fix it first.
Fox News was on at my doctor's office today.
Neil Cavuto had a segment with a psychiatrist talking about how we should be institutionalizing more people, because obviously that's why the Texas church shooting happened. The shooter apparently "escaped" from an institution a few years back.
But obviously it's all empty talk because no Republican would support increased mental health funding, and it also ignores the fact that most mentally ill people are not dangerous.
He ended the segment with something to the effect of "there should be a lot more people in institutions... it's a real danger and it's very scary."
Stigmatizing mental illness and ignoring gun control. Followed by an ad for why SILVER is the investment that can't possibly lose!
Absolutely an alternate reality.
