And on top of that,
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-03/former-twitter-employee-says-fake-russian-accounts-were-not-taken-seriously
In early 2015, a Twitter employee discovered a vast amount of Twitter accounts with IP addresses in Russia and Ukraine. The worker, Leslie Miley, said most of them were inactive or fake but were not deleted at the time. Miley, who was the company's engineering manager of product safety and security at the time, said efforts to root out spam and manipulation on the platform were slowed down by the company's growth team, which focused on increasing users and revenue.
"Anything we would do that would slow down signups, delete accounts, or remove accounts had to go through the growth team," Miley said. "They were more concerned with growth numbers than fake and compromised accounts."
MAU is the only number that matters. Silicon Valley (the show) looking more and more prescient every day.
Mr. Trump, a regular user of Twitter himself, has called claims that the Russians manipulated the 2016 election via social media “a hoax.”+
“BOOM! DOWN GOES @jebbush,” wrote @DorothieBell, three weeks after Mr. Trump entered the race. The account, claiming to be run by an American “Conservative wife, mother” who wanted to “take this once great country back!!!,” linked to a Breitbart News article about Mr. Trump attacking Mr. Bush for being soft on immigration.
In August, @TamaFlan, claiming to be an American named Tamar Flanagan, tweeted: “#TrumpBecause It’s time for @BarackObama and @HillaryClinton to go quietly into the night #MakeAmericaGreatAgain.”
Other accounts criticized Mr. Bush for being a “RINO” (Republican in name only). One offered a succinct put-down: “@JebBush ewww.”
Then once through the primaries:
As the November 2016 election approached, the Kremlin preference for Mr. Trump became even more pronounced. Pro-Trump tweets—either favoring him or attacking his opponent—outnumbered those for Mrs. Clinton by a 30-to-1 ratio in the two weeks before the election, the Journal analysis found. There were about 236 pro-Trump or anti-Clinton tweets captured in the Journal data during those two weeks compared with seven that were pro-Clinton or anti-Trump.
Much of the Russian social-media disinformation campaign has been linked to the St. Petersburg-based Internet Research Agency, a shadowy, so-called troll farm that spread Russian propaganda across the Internet.
Coal Country is so fucked :
Despite broad consensus about coal's bleak future, a years-long effort to diversify the economy of this hard-hit region away from mining is stumbling, with Obama-era jobs retraining classes undersubscribed and future programs at risk under President Donald Trump’s proposed 2018 budget.
What many experts call false hopes for a coal resurgence have mired economic development efforts here in a catch-22: Coal miners are resisting retraining without ready jobs from new industries, but new companies are unlikely to move here without a trained workforce. The stalled diversification push leaves some of the nation's poorest areas with no clear path to prosperity.
I wonder if I could get paid to be professional troll on Twitter, even if it were Hillary hiring me, I'd elevate the game.

Does SA usually consider these types of things acts of war?
By Fenderputty Go To PostDoes SA usually consider these types of things acts of war?everyone flexes on obvious third party involvement/support/inaction
combine that with the fact that lebanon's already has had people stepping down, its effectively handled unless SA wants to fuck with them more by driving the point home and demanding some additional form of reparations
Saudi Arabia basically made Lebanon's PM resign.
This feels like a prelude to military action by SA and Israel.
And hey, Yemen is going so well for them, why not try their luck against an professional military force in Hezbollah with the backing of Iran?

if you get a pm to resign, you've won.

By DY_nasty Go To Postthat's a hell of a leapThe PM blamed Iran for his resignation. Israel has been running drills on the Lebanese border for months.

Iran and Hezbollah are the point here, not Lebanon.
The writing is on the wall imo. And it isn't like Washington is remotely equipped to do anything about it now. In fact, we might be pushing things toward confrontation because our administration is dumb as fuck.

"your countries support/involvement/inaction regarding x is an act of war" is not strange or unusual. its a huge leap to jump from that to 'any day now'
if shit was getting annexed, it just goes down. ask georgia
I'm not saying annexation or all-out conflict, I'm saying we could possibly see Israel flexing its muscles in Lebanon with airstrikes and limited engagement with Hezbollah. It doesn't feel like the current SA fuckery has even registered in the US.

SA's fukkery doesn't 'register' because its purely wait and see. With everything going on over there, and how internal it is specifically, what exactly could we do other than watch from the sidelines?
Seems like we've been doing more than sitting on the sidelines.

This is called "holy shit we're finally fucked..... start a war to make us look strong and get these Marks to be all 'patriotic'...... Dumb Marks" that Bush JR did a lot better in the past.
This whole scam is to get Iran's oil off the market (by war) again so SA (and OPEC) can do their thing manipulating oil markets and go back to basically printing money...... Israel don't give a fuck cause they just want to nuke Iran to dust anyway for the audacity of existing at this point.
Trump don't care cause somebody out there promised him money and that's all he cares about anyway. Also maybe he could pull a "don't change horses midstream" and look way more competent than he is since idiots..... I mean Marks eat this bullshit up.

then why not just go into iraq in force, reestablish western friendly regime while making everyone happy that isis is ded, and then antagonize iran from there?

By DY_nasty Go To Post?My scenario isn't just us going to war its letting SA and Israel go to war with Iran with us playing backup. I mean shit the Lebanon Prime minister likely resigned because it bought his country time since its hard to say your going to war with a country that has no real leader and not come off like the aggressor...... which also leads to the problem with going back to Iraq. You can't do a third Iraq without a boogey man to hype it up and Saddam is Dead.

So they’re pitching taxes to senate dems. Gotta be a way to just say “we told ya and gave you and opportunity for input”. I don’t believe any of the moderate dems would touch this even though it’s being sold as “putting pressure” on them.

Eh, I'm not willing to give Jared Kushner the benefit of the doubt like DY's doing here. This is the same dude who advised Trump to fire Jim Comey, which turned out to be one of the dumbest things a sitting president has ever done.
He's obviously not machiavellian enough to convince MBS to start a war, the most likely scenario is that he was there to talk business and MBS was able to suss out from Jared (whether wittingly or not) that the Trump administration would be supportive--or at the very least not opposed--to a purge of his political enemies.

people are going on about "this is it" when there've been half a dozen obvious chances to dive headfirst into or greatly inflame a large military action while calling ourselves the good guys
i frankly don't believe kushner is smart enough or important enough to matter anywhere but in the US

Sure. But I do think it's concerning that this nebulous DC "foreign policy consensus" is sort of, kind of, maybe coalescing around a pre-emptive strike against NK. At that point, we might have to look to Trump (jesus) to say no.
And on Kushner, I really don't know if he's actively involved in this SA kerfuffle.
Broadly speaking he's a dumbass through and through, but he's also an easy mark when other countries are looking to peddle favors with the administration. Give him a cushy real estate deal and the quid pro quo is that he puts in a good word with the old bossman. Maybe it works, most likely it won't, but China, or Japan, or SA aren't gonna sweat a little chump change on the off chance they get better terms on a weapons or trade deal.
