It's apparent to many, many people that the Dems ain't shit. I mean, they only lost an election to a guy who didn't even really want to be President and have been getting their clocks cleaned on the state and local level for almost 20 years now.
By KingGondo Go To PostThe article was great actually, because it showed how the terrible, terrible DNC sausage is made.
They didn't find anyone who wanted their policies, but their report didn't reflect that at all. The fact that Third Way has an influence over the DNC says a lot about why they don't understand a fucking thing about the electorate.
Then come up with your own report that's better researched and better argued than theirs. That's how politics work.
What I'm tired of is rhetoric without the necessary work behind them.
I'm not allowed to criticize Third Way or the DNC unless I want to fund or implement a field study of rural Wisconsin voters?
Read the article. They didn't fucking listen to the people they talked to. The trip was a sham intended to give their pre-ordained conclusions credibility with the DNC.
If the DNC doesn't want to get criticized maybe they should stop hiring hacks.

By KingGondo Go To PostTo respond with some substance: the Dems offered nothing that could be summed up as a slogan or as an appeal to emotional decency.
The basic question we're grappling with in this country is whether everyone deserves a basic degree of security from the worst things that life can throw at you. The Republicans say "HELL NO" loudly, and the Dems say "if you go to strongertogether.org and read our 15-point plan that includes job training and tax credits for small business owners you'll see that we are clearly the better option."
They need to stop marketing the wonkish stuff and talk about healthcare, a basic living wage, and retirement security as rights, not as benchmarks to be hopefully reached if we just keep on incrementally progressing for 50 more years.
People are hurting now and they don't. fucking. listen.
FYI ... this is a completely different opinion than "the dems aren't offering anything voters want". Messaging is an issue. So is racial animus. The messaging catch phrase the right developed played right into that animus too. Dems did also run on healthcare pretty openly as well as a minimum wage increase.
IMO dems real issue is breaking through the fox news propoganda being pushed. Which isn't going to be easy considering we'll now have to deal with social media helping to distort messages.
To some extent messaging only gets dems so far. This isn't an easy barrier to break into.
Well... I mean... it's hard not to be on team #demsaintshit... I'm actually considering switching my voting registration to Republican so I can be more effective at primarying Republicans than controlling any shitfaced thing the Dems and their health insurance overlords do anymore.

What you should be doing is pressuring the Berniecrats to do better than just yell and say you’re wrong without ever offering well thought out policy alternatives.

depending on the state you live in, this isn't a bad option.

To be fair to the berniecrats of the party, they have offered policy proposals. They're just unwilling to budge and fail to acknowledge the basic similarity between the two divisions in the democratic party. Like single payer is an option. So is a public option, expansion of subsidies and cost controls. Free college is an option. So is some labor in a trade for tuition. $15 and hour minimum wage is an option. So is $12 with leaving larger increases up to states who can. If you vary from their policy at all, you're cast into the "aint shit" crowd and treated like you're a republican.
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostBerniecrat here.
If you voted for Hillary in the primaries, lol @ u.
I think the majority of black voters in the south might want to have words with you.
Bernie Sanders sucks worse than Hillary. That's a fact. Dude didn't even try to talk to any places where blacks/Latinos live and he's running for the Democratic nomination? Please.
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostLet them. I debate better than Hillary.Bernie is very bad at spelling out social and economic justice when he says "issues of the common American" after mentioning minority issues.
Makes it seem like minorities aren't normal Americans. I voted for Bernie btw.

O you mean that single payer bill that doesn't include any details on pay-fors?
We know what you want Bernie, you've only been yelling about this for decades. Tell us how you're gonna do it.
I'm still lol'ing @ u even if Bernie didn't talk where you live. All you had to do was watch the news, or watch the debates, or go on the Internet and talk with your friends, or just use your common sense to some extent. That's why I don't give the people of Wisconsin or Michigan or whatever any leeway to have any excuses either, least of all Pennsylvania.

This is actually when I fell off the Bernie train during the primaries. Originally I liked him better than Clinton. Once I heard "millions of youth marching on the capital" I started to gloss over.
I don't hate on him eternally. He brings up topics that do push the narrative to the left.

Rising tides lift all boats isn't a new thing in the black community. He should have been smart enough to know that. He specifically went after the WWC voter. In retrospect ... not a bad general tactic but a poor primary tactic.
He basically comes out and gives the most generous healthcare plan the world has ever seen, and can't seem to be bothered to answer the question, "where are you even gonna find all the doctors to provide the services that this plan nominally offers?"
I'm pretty sure it's Bernie's job to convince people about why they should vote for him and do whatever it takes to get their vote. If it means campaigning in the south then you go and campaign there in person if it gives you state during the primaries even if you you don't win it in the general.
If your plan for the south is word of mouth and tv then it's a shitty plan and it showed in the results or are you going to tell me that southern voters are "low information voters"?

Bernie's outreach to black voters included some photo op sessions with Killer Mike at a chicken and waffles and some pictures from the civil rights era. Guy needed to try harder.

As mentioned earlier, minorities have heard the "tides rising all boats" rhetoric literally our entire lives. We know what it means. If you can't be bothered to talk to us, we can't be bothered to vote for you.;
For all of her faults, at least Hillary admitted her and Bill fucked up with their public safety policies int he 90s. I at least respected her for that, unlike Bernie "there's a southern part of the US??" Sanders.

It's more smoke for sure, though.
Naturally, Team Trump scapegoats the Jewish guy.

“Here’s what Manafort’s indictment tells me: Mueller is going to go over every financial dealing of Jared Kushner and the Trump Organization,” said former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg. “Trump is at 33 percent in Gallup. You can’t go any lower. He’s fucked.”

Combining to highly improbable acts into one isn't going to make it more probable.

By s y Go To Post525 a month? JesusLuckily, the tax credits go up as the premiums go up, so I'm only going to pay like $150. (Which is still less expensive than through my work. Health insurance is insane.) If I didn't have vision and dental through my job, I'd be really fucked having to go through the marketplace.

Ah so you qualify for premium subsidies. That’s good to hear.
Somehow no one (everyone) bothered to point out to these geniuses that cutting CSR payments directly leads to government giving out more tax credits on the backend. I wonder why!
