Good move but unfortunately too late. Those measures also feels like a band-aid and are probably too easily circumvented.
With Russia already into its own election campaign, I bet Putin will use this (and things like this) as an excuse to blame the West for its enmity and garner support by appealing to the patriotism of Russians against the "nasty Americans".

Also, the main issue is from bots and Western cutouts (useful idiots and malicious actors like Posobiec, Cernovich, Microchip etc.), not RT/Sputnik by themselves.

I doubt this particular move will tip the scales one way or the other in the Russian election.
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostTwitter is banning Russian propaganda. It'll help us in 2018. I'll take it. We can't undo the mistakes of the past, but anything that helps actually stop the indoctrination machine is a good thing.
On a different note, it looks like the House has adopted a budget.
By Trey Go To PostI doubt this particular move will tip the scales one way or the other in the Russian election.True, but anything that can weaken their feeling of being under attack will make it easier to instill a desire for a more liberal society in Russia, instead of an authoritarian govt. They are not all super happy about the current situation, but they see Putin as a necessary evil to protecting Russia's interests abroad. Once they stop feeling like their interests are actively under attack, things might finally change.
I'm not implying they will be liberal overnight, but that the govt need to give people what they want, and if they don't want a powerful father figure to feel safe anymore, then maybe we'll get meaningful regime reform.
This can be passed with a simple majority in the senate correct? If so I guess this is getting through.
By SleazyC Go To PostThis can be passed with a simple majority in the senate correct? If so I guess this is getting through.
It was already passed in the Senate 51-49 (Rand Paul dissenting). These are just guidelines for tax reform, though. $4T of savings need to be 'found' somehow to meet reconciliation rules.

Two thousand never, most likely.
Man just bad news today. Those healthcare cuts might as well be obamacare repeal. Im so fucked on pricing.

It's going to suck for some segments of the population.

So the moderate darlings won't be on board? How much from Medicare / caid?
By Randolph Freelander Go To PostThis is absolutely monstrous.Almost no words, it's heartbreaking.
By Fenderputty Go To PostSo the moderate darlings won't be on board? How much from Medicare / caid?$1.3 trillion in Obamacare/Medicaid cuts

I suppose McCain won't have any procedural issues here either.
those numbers... just insane what they are willing to do to middle class and poor families. fuck them.
But all those poor people will get off government health care when the corporations get tax cuts and create new jobs. Bootstraps.
Good to see we're back to just completely fucking over the poor without even bothering to hide it behind anything.
By FreezePeach Go To Post$1.3 trillion in Obamacare/Medicaid cuts

Yeah, I can almost guarantee this isn't going to happen. The most likely play would be to put it in as a "future" cut with the deferment likely expiring when they know they won't have control of congress and the white house. That way the corporate sponsors get the cuts now and the dems eventually get the blame when it actually lands while they take credit in the present for planning a way to "pay for it". The deferment will be under the guise of letting the economy growth under the relaxed tax restrictions.
Either way this is going to be a total sh*tstorm and I can't help but feel like a large number of people in political and corporate circles are actually planning to abandon the US as a whole within a 5-10 year time period and need to get their parachutes in order before bailing.
This budget adoption is just a resolution, right? A statement of goals? From what I gather nothing's set in stone outside that which the Republican party really hopes they can get away with. Reconciliation rules are still in play, right?
By RumbleHumble Go To PostReconciliation rules are still in play, right?
Yes, which is why they're fighting about taxing 401K's earlier or even a gas tax.
By Fenderputty Go To PostYesI guess we'll have to hope the tea party crazies decide to sabotage all this. Worse than relying on McCain...

Those medicare cuts and their tax proposals are big issues they'll have to work around. The easiest path would be to sunset their tax break, but even then if it's a significant enough of a break they'll have to reduce spending enough that sunsetting won't increase the debt in 10 years.
Yeah, if anything I think a great deal of what's currently come out about the tax proposal actually makes it harder than ACA repeal. There isn't the same kind of base voter demagoguery associated with it and much of it is much easier to recognize as actually screwing over their own base simply at face value than anything associated with the ACA repeal attempts.
By IAmRilakkumaAMA Go To PostAlso, the main issue is from bots and Western cutouts (useful idiots and malicious actors like Posobiec, Cernovich, Microchip etc.), not RT/Sputnik by themselves.Twitter is doing a lot of volunteer stuff just so they avoid regulations that will make them do the heavy work, like investigating funding sources and such. And of course everything to deflect scrutiny from bot armies.
By Fenderputty Go To PostAll so they can pass a massive tax break on the rich with roughly 25% approval.Public approval ain't paying the bills and/or doling out cushy lobbying jobs.
So, opoid health emergency, but for realsies this time! I'll assume there will be no actual details provided at the signing other than The Wall. Also going to assume there'll be no mention of how a border wall would have no impact on this sort of drug abuse.
I have zero faith in anyone in the Senate to hold strong on health care cuts in a setting not directly attached to a health care bill where the intent is obvious. Too many ways to excuse it here. "Well, you all got a tax cut so you end up ahead!" or similar bullshit.
I'm glad this is here, because I'm having a damn panic attack over not having a reset invite because I couldn't get a discord invite because I'm literally some random loser. How does this place manage to be so chill, even with the larger profile? The casual atmosphere is awesome.

I've got a feeling, even if it did play on national TV, the programming demographic they would be looking for won't be the fox news crowd haha
The feeling I'm getting from Twitter is that Trump's response to the opioid crisis is Just Say No 2.0.
Is there a place where I can see the breakdown of respondents from that Hampton poll in VA? I went to their site but didn't see anything. Maybe I'm missing it?
I look forward to commercials with cooking eggs

By FreezePeach Go To PostIf people stopped getting all hopped up on the juice pills Trump might lose a lot of voters.
This was a huge issue for Ohio during 2016. There's a reason Kasich is being more progressive about solutions. I can't imagine "just say no 2.0" still sit well.

Q3. If the general election for Governor of Virginia were held today, for whom would you vote:Who the fuck is Ralph Nortdam? No wonder it's so low.
Frequency Percent
Ed Gillespie 304 41%
Ralph Nortdam 245 33%
Don’t know/Refused 201 27%
Total 750 100%

Na, it's working. One of my co-workers saw this tweet and now refuses to buy the game.
He's one of those "historical purists." The Third Reich =/= alt-right. He finds the comparison offensive.

Also yeah, there have been a few alt-righters that've gotten pissed by Wolfenstein's marketing. And the internet is the primary place for the alt-right to congregate. It's speaking more truth to power than a few give it credit for.
